Loved this. We live in Minetto and the river is in our backyard (literally). We enjoy seeing all the boats, yachts, and kayaks go by. Thanks for sharing your view of the canal system and river. And yes…the tons of spiders are definitely a part of life on the river.
Spiders are extremely common in the upper Midwest for some reason, and yes, on the docks. We bring our houseboat to the beaches and zero issues. Once we dock for the week on Sunday…spider heaven. Don’t stay at a slip with a cover, twice as bad. They drop from the covers frame.
Fun…kayakers! I hope your travels on the Great Lakes were smooth, uneventful and fun…growing up very close to Lake Michigan I know how quickly they can change! Wow, those beet bowls looked yummy! Safe and happy travels!
Thanks for sharing the highs and the lows - I especially appreciate Jen's honesty about anxiety. I think from a mental health perspective that honesty is inspirational for those with these types of struggles. I developed a totally irrational fear of flying later in life. It's something I doubt will ever change but having a healthy perspective on it is important. And Jen's courage in the face of those anxieties is remarkable.
“The bugs…it’s like the wind has become physical.” I think I will remember that line the rest of my life. It’s like when my cousin Joey said “the temperature is perfect you don’t feel anything.”
Now for the big water again. Great lakes are sometimes a surprise but you shouldn't have a problem with serious planning. Canals are truly an experience and one you will always remember. Head for Chicago and hope for the best. Enjoy
I know when anxiety is an issue that it's impossible to tell you not to worry, but try to relax a bit if you can because you are doing GREAT!! You are completely rocking it.
The first (but not only) time I tried to start my engine in gear I about had a panic attack! It only took me about 10 seconds to figure out what the problem was, but those ten seconds were pretty intense.
Hi Scho and Jo, I've been out of the "loop" for awhile. My little Lady passed away and I have been feeling quite low. I followed your progress and seeing Olie always gives me joy. In reality, where are you now on your adventure? Aloha!
Birdsong is a pretty cool place if your a Patsy Cline fan. Her crash site is there. Loretta Lynn's ranch is there too. Birdsong has an old pearl farm there and a museum.
Had '68 Buick Skylark convertible in college. Not as nice as you think, but was in south Florida! Sometimes had to go out of park and back in, sometimes more than once and forcefully. Anytime in anything that doesn't start 1st thing I check. It's normally not that easy, but save a lot of bad words when it does.
Always look forward to your videos and having the opportunity of traveling the great loop with you! As for your 🕷 spider problems, a peppermint oil spray may be helpful. It repels spiders, bugs, roaches, and vermin. You can find it on Amazon and won't be harmful for Ollie. I am planning the loop in 2 years and would love to see a video on how you create and edit your videos.
A double like for Olie. P.S. Did the same thing when we did the sea trial on our tug. Couldn't get it started....We scrapped the trial until able to contact the owner who told us to make sure we were in neutral... DOH!
for the beautiful and now fresh cleaned baby, she looks like she earned an extra treat and belly rub. my chuawaw / terry faces away and gives me the look back stink eye.
Jenn, greetings from Carolina Beach! You should read a book called "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. It is a life-changer if you can work through it and practice his teachings. Keep up the videos! As a merchant mariner I always find it fascinating to watch this kind of content.
Jen... With the level of your anxiety how is it that you travel to foreign countries and navigated cultures effortlessly? Is it just and only boat related? No judgement...just 🤔 wondering?
