I e seen calabacitas in Walmart years back but they stopped selling them up here in North Dakota. I used to buy them to make a middle eastern dish from where my husband is from made from small similar squash called kusa, they would hollow them out and stuff with meat and rice and stew them, sooooo good! I tried growing them myself but I need a bigger garden because those plants are huge and you need a lot of small sized ones to get a good enough amount for the dish.

Love the pot with the broken handle reminds me of my abuela! She had a couple of pots that she always cooked with that were missing handles. They were her favorite she said they were seasoned and that’s were all the flavor comes from. She would not let us replace them for her. Great video really brought back childhood memories.

My mother makes a plate called calabazitas con pollo with the drummettes, wing portions and corn.

I also do the calabasitas the same but i add tomatoes.

Erin you should talk to an attorney in Mexico regarding the land. Mexicos laws are different. When your father in law passed away your mother in law and children are heirs. Not just the mother. My husband is from Jalisco. When his mom passed he thought everything belonged to his dad. Come to find out they all are. They didn’t have to wait until dad’s passing. Have your husband talk to an attorney as all situations are different.

Churros are the best. Just don’t eat them everyday. They’re hella-good. Nice to see everyone doing well. A huge hello from San Diego. Thanks for sharrring and catch you on the next one.

I’m a fairly new subscriber and I love your content! There’s nothing like Mexico ❤️🇲🇽 That poor little fur baby needs a home 🥺🐶💔…is there someone there in the rancho that can adopt him? It’s so sad how he just looks in on the families that have their fur babies and he doesn’t have a loving home💔😢…it breaks my heart. I’m such an animal advocate and if I see or find a stray dog/cat/animal the first thing I do is make sure they’re fed and also give them some water. Afterwards I foster them and look for a family that will adopt them. This is coming from a person with 9 rescued dogs that I’ve kept myself but have rescued more that have been adopted. Can you please find a little place for that poor puppy at your place? Or if anyone can take good care of him? Everybody there looks so compassionate and nice I’m sure you can find someone if you guys can’t adopt him yourself. All fur babies should have a home 😢…I always think about what if I was a dog or a cat? How would I like to be treated? Of course it’ll always be with love and kindness, if we all did that life would be so different. Try to put yourself in their place and think about how you would like to be treated if you were a dog/cat etc? I pray you find it in your heart to adopt him or foster him while you find him a home and when you see a stray animal please feed them, you never know when was the last time they ate…many times they starve to death and that’s why they’re so emaciated 😢💔 it’s heartbreaking to see, especially in Mexico. Whenever I go to Mexico I carry large bags of dog food with disposable plates and bowls and also gallons of water so that we can feed and give water to the stray dogs and cats we see on the streets 🥺 and they are so so grateful. I wish I could save them all. Sorry this comment is so long but I just had to speak up and be a voice for the voiceless.

All the food looked so delicious! We built a home in Mexico in Ensenada. I hope that you both be sure to put the house on land that is in your name. When my father in law passed the land went to the oldest son and not the wife? I think that is common in Mexico and I’m sure you would want to leave the house to all the kids, so just look into that before building. It wasn’t too difficult. It took one year for our house which was a 3 bedroom/4 bathroom house. We sold it In 2020 and now live full time in California but we travel to Spain often where my family is from. So Mexico and Spain are our favorite places to enjoy since we have family in both countries. In Spain we eat churros and porras (like a thicker churro), but without sugar. We eat them for breakfast with hot chocolate 😊

That poblano chile soup is a dish from Durango , they call it “chile verde “ I know a Lady from Durango and she’s a great cook, she also adds some sour cream.
