A 10 year difference between someone 40 and 50 doesn't produce much of a difference. You can't use a comparison like that in this case. There is a far larger difference between someone 14 and 24 than there is someone 25 and 50. Also, you can still have plenty of things in common despite age differences. You're caught up on the differences that you're neglecting the plethora of basic things you can have in common with someone.

I think it honestly depends on how old the person is and their maturity level. I am 22 turning 23 soon and I have a hard time finding friends who are in my age range, let alone get along with it, connecting with them because I don’t enjoy doing what most young people like doing. Let’s not forget that theirs many age gap couples across generations/the world. (your parents might also have an age gap and you don’t know). My parents are almost 12 years apart but they never met each other until much much later in life. I was 10 at the time when they both got introduced. grooming does happen even if you’re an adult but we don’t know them personally to be able to identify that.

My Grandmother was 16 when she married my Grandfather who was 39. An arranged marriage. He was a friend and co-worker of my great Grandfather. Big age differences were common in the old days. It worked out. We were a very close knit happy family to this day.

That's a ton of assumptions. There are many age-gap relationships in the gay community and most are healthy and not exploitative. There are some studies that suggest people are actually happier in age-gap relationships. And the most common reason for breaking up is society's disapproval of age-gap relationships and the social pressure that comea along with it, rather than issues in the relationship itself.
