That's really great you guys came and helped our people but you all know that Myanmar needs to change a lot of things at the same time and all our people are struggling of this kind of lifestyles like you guys do. So, don't make some noises in your comments box. You are very welcome!
I left Rangoon for DC, some 30 years ago. The house I grew up in was a few hundred metres south of your apartment. Back then, there were no structures taller than a three or four stories in the entire city. I've never gone back to Rangoon, so I enjoyed seeing my hometown again in your video. Thanks very much. Cheers!
Hello guys!! I am from India. That is a nice apartment that you both have there. I will be in Yangon from June 2015 to teach in an international school. I like traveling a lot and meeting different people. I stumbled upon your video while I was checking out different places to live in Yangon. Hopefully I will get to meet you both in Yangon. You guys seem cool!! :) thank you
Kedarnath Kedar you want to go international this is a horrible thing you talking a bout trust me i born in myanmar the teachers are not nice to childrens you know like the teacher hurts the childrens when i was a five the teacher hurt me that's why i'm in america belive me
If you rent regular apartment with same facility without lift, price is between $400-$500. Rent in Yangon is like highway robbery since real estate price went through the roof. Same as New York, it is crazy.
Jordan Christie because Myanmar opened its borders to trade and foreign companies have moved in. Therefore there is little housing and it is very expensive.
Bro. Phuket right Of couse lah The place she renting is in the centre of yangon Most expensive place in myanmar for rent I bet u can't find a property in centre of bangkok with that price U are comparing 2 different locations Property is all about location bro
@@heinminaung5073 Sure you can. In fact you can find more variety with greater range of prices in Bangkok compared to other places in Thailand such as Chiang Mai.
Keith Pak because Myanmar opened its borders to trade and all the foreign countries have flooded in. Therefore there are few housing options and it made the market sky rocket.
thx for sharing ur expriences...may i have the details of the charges for the apartment for 1month and any other charges if i want to stay 1 month...many thanks from australia.. do u have fly screens on each window to avoid flies n mosquitoes pls?
Hi, the cost for the apartment was $1,100 a month. They do not rent monthly in Myanmar. You have to pay the entire year, up front, in cash. We did not have fly screens. However, we were on the 11th floor so mosquitos were not an issue.
I’m curious why a western couple would go to Burma ? I guess I should check More of your content to see if you told us why... I can understand why a boy would want to live there but...
ADV Taiwan The heart of why we went there was to share Jesus and His saving power! My husband did medical missions and we both taught at a school. It was not easy but it was very worth it.
That's so fun! So, is rent the same amount?! :) We paid $1,100. And does the power ever go out on the elevator? Half way through the year we moved the mattress to the living room so we didn't hand to hear all the honking. And about every Saturday morning our power would go out. Ha! How long have you lived there? And what do you do in Yangon?
@Yeminn Htoon Which way lol. I am Burmese who love the diversity and actually proud of Myanmar’s ethnic diversities. That’s why I am trying the best to give it what I think is best. There are no saint unless one achieve the nirvana. Every country has its up and down and good and bad. I think it suits you to live in US with such a mindset. 🤣 Since US is such a paradise 🤣 It’s your own choice to interpret things and do as you like.
Thanks so much for this video !!! 😁 I love to travel the world via RU-vid ...I’ve 2 or 3 questions please !! : Is it very dangerous!?! How do they take to Americans ? Could I come and get a job and place as a carpenter fairly easily ? .....i read in the comments “$1,100 a month” ....there’s no way in the world that’s American money is it !?!?! 😱
The biggest danger there is traffic :) So no, it isn’t very dangerous. They are very kind to Americans. We came in with a work visa and taught. So I don’t know anything about going in as a carpenter. And yes, the $1,100 is American dollars. Things are very expensive there right now.
Labor is SO cheap in Asia that you would not work for the wages typically paid. Similarly, most of the Asian countries will not allow a foreigner to come and take a job a local could fill. Edit - and yes, that rent in USD is absolutely ABSURD for an Asian country aside from Japan, Taiwan or Korea.!
It's high because Myanmar opened up their country to foreign trade. So big countries like China have moved in to build business and there isn't enough housing.
She lives in Myanmar and sums up as Asia in general by saying ridiculous things such as "there's no dishwasher in ASIA" ... WHAT??? Of course there's and even in Myanmar back then. I've stayed in 3 different hostels where usually you won't find dishwashers no matter which part or the world you are , and yet, two of them had dishwashers, and was 2014 as well! 🤦🏼
This is looting... And crazy, you can get a quadruple amenities at this cost in top Indian cities..such a poor country and owner of such place has no respect for people
