I bought the Ranger after seeing your review on it. We are also considering an upgrade to the Alpha. I wish they had the shell in tan though. Black seems like it would be hot in summer. Gray is better but tan would match the tent.
@@OverlandAZ I just completed the Rubicon with my freespirit. It's boxy but I like it. I'd love to do the Rubicon with one of those fangled hard-shell ones now.
Hi Josh, love your setup. I have a 2020 JLU Rubi and finished installing my Gobi Rack Stealth and got my Alpha II RTT. Did you mount it directly to the Gobi Rack mesh panels or the cross bar?
Hey thanks! I have mine mounted to the crossbars. My Gobi rack is an older model so the crossbars are welded in place and I mount my brackets right to them.
The GFC looks nice and the lightweight is a huge bonus. Most of these larger tents will weigh a bit more and be taller. But they also allow you to sleep more people and for more bedding inside. It’s definitely a trade off both ways that you need to assess your priorities for.
Still very happy with it! Have had it in all weather conditions except heavy rain (lol Arizona). As soon as I get a night in some heavy rain I’ll do a full review 👍
Have a link or contact to rent? Thinking about buying the new for a tent trailer build but have never slept in a rtt. We have a gobi on our 4runner, so it should mount up pretty easy for a rental/test run...
