Scripture is clear that we are all born in sin and alienated from God. If we ignore the depth of our sin, we forfeit the power of restoration and forgiveness. In Exodus 4, after Moses ignored God’s command of circumcision, God threatened his life. Hershael York explains why today, God no longer requires circumcision or sacrifice. In Jesus, we have a Savior who bore God’s wrath for our sin, and at the cross, Jesus fulfilled God’s covenant on our behalf. Although by nature we cannot and will not keep this ourselves, by trusting in Christ, we are transformed and presented blameless before a holy and righteous God.
