Burg means castle. A lot of cities were build arount casles and have -burg in their name. Or a -hafen for a harbour, or a -rode for large woodcutting areas.

A Schloss is a castle that is build for representation in later centuries when the defend with thick walls become stupid because of the development of canons. im from dinkelsbühl, ive seen real snakes about 20 times in my 40 year life, we dont have any problems with snakes what so ever.
