And to think when Anita released here first album it was panned by critics. They actually said she can't sing. She quit music. The album went nowhere. She went back to work as a paralegal but, a couple nights a week she would sing at a local bar on open mic nights. A producer heard her and spent months trying to convince her to try a singing career again. She resisted cause she didn't want to go through the hurt and disappointment again. He finally did convince her and her first single went straight to the top. The rest is history. I'm so thankful that he believed in her ability and persisted. She is one my all time favorite performers. Love her. Oh, and they also rereleased that first album and it too went very high on the album charts. That album has some of my favorite Anita Baker songs.
