WELCOME HOME, THANK YOU, GOD BLESS YOU ALL 🙏🏼

I was in the Marine Corp Reserve from 10 Jan. 1973 still 9, Nov. 1979 never saw action at any time. I admire these Wonderfull men and woman that have come before me, I was 20 when I enlisted I love my country even today inspire of its faults and indecision. Because my friends I wish to honor those that died before I was born, I honor those that died so that I could have a free land to live in, I honor those no mater what country or color they are because they gave their lives & sacrificed life and limb so that we all could have the freedoms and life style of today. Thank you for all you did for me & others!

Every time I watch a video like this I’m filled with admiration but nobody talks about the POW’s and missing in action , this is also part of the Vietnam War !

All respect to the men and the women who went and did their duty, whether or not they agreed with the dishonest politicians who sent them there. It's amazing to hear all of them say they would do it again if they had to.

My Field Training Officer for the police dept I worked for was a Vietnam Vet, door gunner on a helicopter. One of the best officers I ever worked with. You guys are great. I loved working with vets. Thank you for all that you did.

these stories are SO POWERFUL AND HUMBLING....just Amazing. Whenever I see a Vietnam Vet I always tell them I thank you for your service and honor you....and they always have a seat to talk about what it was like.....the bravery and courage of these men, to just be drafted into this war is just mind-boggling. Amazing.

I was born in 1963 of course way to young to dear Evan in Vietnam. Being a young child I do remember young men in my neighborhood in Louis Missouri leaving and everyone going to their houses hugging them and wishing telling them they are proud of them and to be careful and come home safe. Looking back amongst all the protest going on in America I am proud of my neighborhood for loving and supporting those few young men we knew it was a blue collar area full of veterans of previous wars. No one of us would have even thought or have ever thought of protesting our troops! That being said when I turned 18 I went to enlist in 1982, but was declined for an eye issue I was born with I tried everything from approval from eye doctors getting letters from high school coaches saying I was more than able to be a soldier but was reheated all 3 attempts. So I got into the carpenters union which I am still in and love what I do. I showed up for work on my first job an hour early and stood by my truck waiting and watching all the journeyman pull up and park. When the time came to get assigned to a crew a well built blue eyed foreman walked into the groups of crews and said I want that leg on my crew, I had no idea what he meant by leg lol. He walked straight up to me looked me in the eyes and said my name is TJ and you belong to me, I had my new tool belt on with all the tools I was told to bring and he said let’s go nothing happens when your standing still! That man became my leader, best friend, taught me the reason for everything we did and pushed me hard never giving me any slack. I was soon the hardest apprentice in the company. He said he was going to make a man that everyone would want so I would never have to worry about having a job. I was taught to be a person of honor from my dad but no one had ever reached me like TJ. We became inseparable TJ had no family left in his life so I became his son in a sense. I was a 6’ tall strong weight lifter and was fearless. It was tradition to hang around and drink some beers on Friday after work, we all stood around the trailer and shot the shit for a couple hours. One Friday one of the other foreman approached me who for some reason did not like me, it happens in life and that’s just life. I never disrespected anyone that’s just how I was raised. Being an Uber city kid I was not afraid to fight if I was disrespected, the foreman walked up to me and spit beer on me and before I could respond he was on the ground and TJ said this is my trooper and no one will touch him and if anyone does I will take their breath from them! I had never seen a person stand up for what is right and fair like TJ. I have to tell you though, when everyone left the asshole foreman was waiting to talk to TJ and I told TJ this is my problem and I need to deal with it, he hit me on the back and said do not lose lol true TJ fashion. I didn’t lose and took care of the asshole. I never had another problem from that man. AFter years of friendship and showing up whenever he called and just needed to talk. TJ was in the 173 Airborne Division and was very proud of its history. The best friend I ever had! The best man I ever knew. TJ became ill of Cancer in 1990 from agent orange I would go visit him with my young son and watched him pitch wiffle ball to my son before he dwindled down to a piece of the stature he used to be. I carried him to this resting place in 1992 at Jefferson Barracks national cemetery and said my goodbyes. I think about him everyday and miss him dearly. I have never met a person of his qualities since. God bless all of you who served I am proud to have spent time with one of your best. You are all hero’s to me. WOW. I wasn't born during Vietnam but way after. I'm blown away by the character of the generation back then, they had true American grit, well the ones that didn't protest in the streets.

To protest the war is not the same thing as protesting your neighbor who was just awarded the MOH...posthumously. RIP Rex. Love you, man. Semper Fi.

As a vet . . . I can comprehend her statements . . . although not every in that theater, I've trained for that 'endrun,' if that became my 'mission.' As that grand phrase went - 'If it's up to be, it is up to me !' I've become blessed . . . to share my story, if I gain the confidense, wherewithall !

I would like to say thank you to all the people that did their jobs in Vietnam my father was in the Vietnam War from 1971-1972 he was in the Army he signed up in July of 1970 and finally got to retire in August of 2010 I was born at Fort Rucker Alabama in June of 1986 but I have lived in Roswell New Mexico since July of 1988 but I have spent my whole life around people in the Army and other branches of the military and I learned that it does not matter what branch of military you or your loved ones are in because they are all like family

Being Det 7, 37 ARRS . . . felt I was shortchanged . . . guarding missle fields of the Strategic Air Command. In time, those responsibilities were transfered, and ARRS mission came directly under SAC command. However, our mission was nothing more than a glorified taxi drivers . . . for SAC. In my 4 years at Minot AFB, we had one rescue mission - T-33 flameout on takeoff, and no, the pilot did not survive !

I saw the last guy had a LYNYRD SKYNYRD shirt - I missed Vietnam by about 5 years - I enlisted in the Army and went to Fort Jackson South Carolina in September 1975 - I was 18 years old . I went to the same high school as the band members of LYNYRD SKYNYRD - Robert E. Lee HS in Jacksonville, Florida in 1972 - about 9 years after they went there . I have a lot of respect for all those who served honorably in Vietnam - I wish there weren't so many who were dishonorable that it gave the rest a bad name - Maybe if the top brass would have enforced good behavior and punished the bad ones - it could have turned out better My prayers are with you guys to find peace in the Lord Jesus Christ .

1971 I was 14 and living on Camp Pendleton my father was in the Marines never realized while living on the base and seeing Young Marines that some of them would lose their lives and to this day I have wondered what happened to some of them

I'm glad that Marine got his purple heart because it does matter . What you did over in Vietnam does matter Marine and you should get recognition .. 58,220 individuals gave their lives over there so we should be celebrating all those who came back. And make sure all those Marines and soldiers know how grateful we are for them . We can't undo the damage and pain that our military experienced when they came home to people calling them baby killers and spitting on them ... How horrible that must have been for our guys to experience that. That should have never happen , any American who disrespects a veteran is a scumbag in my opinion .. that's somebody who has their priorities messed up . But God bless all the Marines , Army , Air force , navy all our bada$$ military members who walked towards the bullets instead of running away from them. Truly truly honorable and appreciated

It was the most interesting time to whomever was there The war just like any war, killing and dying I saw some body peed in the pan ,that's true Some kids scared the S... so he peed in the pan, some got drunk and peed on the street in front of everybody and some got high and lost his pan drug were plentiful and cheap, real cheap five dollars couple guys can get high for whole day I was there when I was in high school ,I was there when I was in VN airforce flew helicopter ,for four years Thank you, you guys did a wonderful job for my country

How some people tend to treat veterans... Now that I feel nothing but pity for them poor foolish people that cannot appreciate the cost of their freedom

Udo Fischer-Much respect and admiration for any and all Pararescuemen out there! I went through SOMTC @ Ft Bragg with them when I was going through for the Army, and they are some of the best PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support) specialists out there. They also have to be up to par with any other SOF unit they may be attached to, US Army SOF, US Navy SOF ect, so on top of knowing medicine, and being in top physical shape,they have to be-like Army SOF medics, tactically proficient as well.

At the end of each episode, it says that the Vietnam era was August 5, 1964 through May 7, 1975. However, officially the government classifies any military who were in Vietnam from November 1, 1955 are considered veterans of Vietnam. One of many "small" errors in this series.

I have lived in VietNam since 1992 amd there must few cultures as forgiving as the Vietnamese are towards Americans and Australians. If you visit VN few of your memories exist - although there are still some traffic light sunshades, l have witnessed two iterations (generations) of buildings. Do visit VietNam, it will not disappoint - such as the Dragon at Da Nang.

People think that all helicopters sound the same. They obviously have never been in or flown a Huey. The sound is unmistakeable.

The smell to me reminded me of rotten wood in a cow pasture!

As an Antiwar protestor in 1965 I NEVER could understand why so many people in America...who pride themselves in their freedom and independence...felt they had the right to tell others what kind of government they should have!!!
