A duality equity between the elites who drive the great trends in history and the men who are caught up in it. I've been call out these people, nobody answered. They're cowards.

I never understood why our Vietnam Veterans were treated so poorly...I was a volunteer USO girl at the Philadelphia NAVAL Hospital and for 5 years saw and heard first-hand accounts from our brave wounded warriors...I was always very outspoken on their rights and how I thought they should have been treated etc..when I participated in a "beauty " contest the questions most asked were about fashion or beauty..mine, however, was about what did I think of President Johnsons performance of the Vietnam War!!! I was only 16 at the time but I said that first, the late President Kennedy would have definitely handled it much better like he did with the Cuban/Missile Crisis, 2nd, he should leave politics in the White House and have the military generals and experts make the important decisions to aid the soldiers...there was a big hush over the audience and then a very loud applause , and most likely the men who stood up were either Veterans or fathers etc of the fighting me, and of course, some boos too!! Needless to say, I lost but was never sorry I spoke up. My Dad and his oldest brother were heroes of WWII , both in Europe at the same time...my brother and my fiancée were in Vietnam at the same time period also during the Tiet Offensive...fortunately they both came home but very different and effected deeply after returning home...I'm helping my brother write a book about his time there...we held the biggest welcome home party for him and I had a special cake baked for him in the shape of a huge a airplane with "SHORT 0 DAYS " on it...he cried when he saw that!!! Always give thanks and love to our servicemen and women who protected our country and way of life!!! GOD BLESS 🇺🇸

@@katherineleonowski7289 Thank you for your post! My oldest brother served in the war as a Marine, I served our country in the Army but never served in any declared war. Each and every time I come across a Vietnam War veteran, I first thank them for their service, and secondly, I shake their hand and say to them, "Welcome Home"....as they were never given a parade and properly welcomed home by a grateful nation for doing what they were asked to do.

21 Oct 2021 I have said this before and I am reiterating it once again for the record and posterity : All who risked their life and limbs in fighting a war / just cause to protect the innocent, the weak, the oppressed, the victimised, the exploited - they are bona fide heroes / heroines. You can't even begin to place a quantitative value of appreciation on that! Gracias!

Did you receive my re-transmitted / repeated messages on "Vietnam War Story" ("R & R") with my e-addrss? Or did they not get through? Wonderful narrative in your posting above, truly. Writing a book on your brother's Vietnam War along with the comprehensive account of your late hubby's family odyssey from concentration camp to the Land of the Free! We are involved in a much greater war today here in the good old’ US of A.

The war didnt do that. The liberal population's ignorance did that. Fact: The domino theory was accurate. The ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand stayed free of Communism because of the U.S. commitment to Vietnam. The Indonesians threw the Soviets out in 1966 because of America’s commitment in Vietnam. Without that commitment, Communism would have swept all the way to the Malacca Straits that is south of Singapore and of great strategic importance to the free world. If you ask people who live in these countries about the war in Vietnam, they have a different opinion from the American news media. The Vietnam War was the turning point for Communism.

@@sillygoose2508 VOAG is about the way the Vets were treated. The writing team absolutely promise to make sure a percentage of any money generated by the show gets to the VVA (IF it ever finds a champion to put it out to the public) we have limited say over whoever puts it on... but that must be part of any deal. Granted, yes, the first amendment protects our freedom of speech, and people can feel however they want about the war, and if they're ignorant enough to believe that the people fighting in Vietnam were the ones guilty of causing the war in Vietnam, they sadly have the right to tell the veterans that however misguided and ignorant they may be. But when it crosses over to spitting on and throwing anything at the veterans who were lucky enough to return home alive they should have been locked up, charged, and convicted of felony assault. If I spit in a cop's face I'm going to prison, and it shouldn't have been any different for anyone who did such to any of our veterans returning home from Vietnam. If anything they should have received an even stiffer punishment for assaulting a returning veteran, they already went through more than enough hell without having it continue when they returned home.

@@NgocNguyen-no3oy Exactly, sometimes it feels like they don't even know there were people being butchered 'over there' in fact even today iof you ask how many people were killed in Vietnam most will respond: 58,000... unbelievable, just too cruel. Okay, the soldiers were not treated like heroes as much as they were expecting when they went back home and many are seriously fucked because of what they saw and did, many of them were vicious beyond belief, torture, rapes, desruction, and the killing for no reason except killing but the most insane unbelievable serial murder was the carpet bombing of whole villages, people who had commited no crimes, who had nothing to defend themselves and could not understand what was happening, the other invaders were never so cruel, I watched a lot of documentaries about those wars but I cannot take it anymore, the heroin of Vang Pao in Laos, the agent orange birth defects, Pol Pot, the Diem brothers, My Ly, Project Phoenix, etc... the horror never stopped and now, no one remembers the Vietnamese? The real victims? You have good reason to be angry, tell everyone you know that they should be angry too and all of us not in the US join with you, you are not alone anymore. Peace to you and to your people, you deserve it.

Vietnam and America are now friends and trading partners, also natural allies against Communist China. Remember the past but don't live in the past. I bet you didn't expect to come back and fight the VA for only 70% PTSD when you've suffered 100%of the memories of this horror for a life time! They Lie...We Suffer!

I so agree with what you say, I am in awe listening to what these brave men have been through and ashamed for how they were treated when the returned to the USA

Oh, the Govt KNOWS. War is ALL about the Almighty Dollar Bill. Periodt. It's not about "liberating ppl", it's not about a ppl's "Freedom", it's not about "Helping" the less fortunate. No. It's all about the few folks who feel "High & Mighty" & feel "Entitled" to have total Control of the Globe. So they create Wars. Distractions & a way to make money. Unfortunately. It's Sad. But I have the utmost Respect for those Soldiers who DO have the best of intents, & DO put Their Lives on the line. Their Sacrifice is GREAT. I take care of Vets, as their in-home caregiver. I absolutely LOVE listening to their stories and memories. They are so special! One vet I care for says he was with the 25th Infantry Division B Company 65th Engineer (Combat), Mine Sweeps & Boobie Traps in Cambodia, 1970. He was 19 years old then. His memory is failing him some, as he has 1st stages of Alzheimer's, but He remembers his Sgt Spanky! His Sgt would come to his Hooch saying, "Come on Mason, Let's go get us some medals today!", & he came home with 3 Bronze Stars, All with Army Accommodations & All with Valor Under Fire! A True American Hero! Whether America was meant to fight in that war or not, whether the POLITICIANS served the needs of GREED over Country, this Soldier Saved Lives out there! Ours annnd Vietnamese! As he was walking point one day, 200 to 300 yards out in front, a Gook walked outta the jungle saying "Chu Hoy! Chu Hoy!" with his AK over his head! My guy didn't know what "Chu Hoy" meant!, but it meant "Surrender"! The gook wanted to surrender! My guy could've died or been injured that day, but he wasn't. God's Grace was overshadowing him and the Vietnamese soldier too, bc my guy could've shot & wounded or killed him too! Instead, my guy was able to hand over a Vietnamese fighter, who said he had been out there Eight Years & only fired his weapon ONE TIME. Meaning, He Never wanted to be there in the 1st place. He was handed over to my guys Sargent & treated better than his Own army had ever treated him. My guy received a Medal of Bravery for this🤍 My guy always says, "I can honestly say I've never killed anyone! I just shot in the same direction as everyone else!" This is HIS way of dealing & coping. Much Love & Respect

It’s no wonder all of these brave men didn’t go to Canada. Our leadership was disgusting then, and it’s deplorable now. This Country is so Corrupt that it makes me want to cry. You might be right about us. Plus the “war” had divided the country and it wasn’t like our past conflicts. Not a lot of victories to celebrate. Just a lot of “why are we here” questions. And over the years, I’ve wondered that same thing, why?

There were many who were killed during their last week of required time!, some the last day! Most in secure places made it back but you could always hear the artillery going out!..

“Hero’s?” A “hero” is just a coward who slips into training when the s*** hits the fan.

Totally unnecessary is 100% right. Vietnamese guerrillas resisted the Japanese occupation in Ww-2; they then fought & beat the French occupiers for 10 years, then out of fear that SE asia would turn red, the US replaced the French failed effort. We sent Advisors during the JFk years, but he had his doubts as the S Viet gov could not be trusted. Lbj was pressured to escalate the war. After the Tet offensive, Lbj knew the war could not be won, but did not have the guts to get out. Instead, he chose not run again. Nixon took his time, and wanted to save face, even though he knew it was a hopeless cause. Everyone was passing the buck, from the field generals, the chiefs of staff, and president. Sad!

Ever hear of SEATO? I think that speaks volumes for our involvement.
