@Oskar and Dan you must visit Bolivia the city of SANTA CRUZ from Bolivia......., an amazing new city so modern and a lot of green places ,it looks like it were a part of Brazil, But its a city of Bolivian, we hope to see you there.
18:03 Guarani it's one of the official languages of Paraguay alongside the Spanish It's an indigenous language spoken mostly by non indigenous people also the real name of the language is avañeʼẽ meaning "people's language"
Hi oscar and Dan, well there is a small mistake at the beginning, actually, Paraguay has access to two important rivers Parana and Paraguay river and they are our way out to the ocean, They are so important that Paraguay has developed the third largest fleet of barges in the world only behind China and USA. Best regards,
"They are so important that Paraguay has developed the third largest fleet of barges in the world only behind China and USA", yes and they are full of Argentinian soya that are triangulated for non paying taxes in the country of origin. Miissss Paraguaaaay ♪♪♪
There’s no official “Apple store” in Paraguay so this retail store sell the products in whatever price they find convenient. Also, the taxes for electronic in Paraguay are crazy because of the location that is land locked. To be honest the prices are not bad at all compared to Asuncion!
There are no taxes for electronics in Ciudad del Este is you are a foreigner. And yes, prices can vary wildly depending on the store and season and when the cargo ships arrive. Now due to the supply chain worldwide crisis the price of iPhones in ciudad del este is quite high but during “normal” times, they were equiparable to the prices in US Apple stores. I bought my iPhone XS there for the same price I would have paid in the USA
Paraguay is beau-ti-full! I'm from Belgium and I went on an exchange to Paraguay in 2018-2019 and lived there for 10 months. Met my boyfriend there, a Paraguayan ofcourse, and his family is so warming. Paraguayan people are the best! they take you into their family like you are their own child! I just fell in love with the country and the people, literally. I have also been to Itaipu and it's massive. I understand the feeling you are talking about. You feel like you are so little. Ciudad de Este is an amazing city where literally everything is possible. As I like to describe myself: soy Belga de sangre, pero Paraguaya de corazón. And oh, about the Iguaçu Falls, they make you silent. You will just stand there and watch them and not be able to say something. They are so impressive! Nice video you guys! I will definitely watch more video's of you
i remember a Belgian girl came here in Asuncion for high school exchange program in my school, that was in early 2000's, she was a little shy haha. cheers.
@@gwolf6442 haha I can imagine. It's not very easy going to a country you don't know and where you don't understand a word of the language. But it's worth every second :) I would do it again if I could.
Ok so I live in Paraguay and have lived here for 10 years now. Did y'all know that in the Chaco (with is the Northern/Western half of Paraguay) there are mennonite (explaining what mennonites is waaaay to long ahaha) colonies, also known as the German speaking colonies? Oh! and Paraguay has a lot of "Achievements " in history. For example, we had the first train in all of South America 😌!... that's pretty cool, even though we dont have trains anymore lmao. We were also once considered themost advanced country in South America (that was at the beginning)... aaaaandddd our "Independence day" is actually 2 days because it happened over two days (through midnight). I have seen and visited many other countrys and I have to say that Paraguay is definetly the most interesting country I know (trust me, I'm not biased) BUT THANK YOU GUYS FOR VISITING OUR BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY 🤩! ¡Vive Paraguay!
Paraguay was the only country to grant the Mennonites refugee status when the Soviet were trying to hunt them down after WW2. We Mennonites owe Paraguay a huge debt of gratitude. May God bless this beautiful nation.
Paraguay has plenty of historic sites to visit from colonial times. There are multiple ruins that were once Jesuit settlements and were later abandoned and took over by the jungle. Also its capital city is at the shore of Paraguay River and tributary of Parana River, one of the biggest rivers in the World.
I absolutely love it when i see people visiting paraguay it makes me happy to see that people actually know paraguay because i feel like paraguay is a really poor and unknown country but its still a beautiful place and i just really appreciate visitors 😁😁
Hi from Paraguay! 🇵🇾 1. Stores open very early in CDE and close at around 4pm 2. Wish you could have tried some Paraguayan food, I literally LOVE our food. You missed out on chipa, mbeju, sopa paraguaya, chipaguasu, etc. 3. Tereré is really an "aquired taste", we make every foreigner try it but you have to get used to it and then you'll like it. We love it in the hot days, it's refreshing 4. There are some really beautiful places in Paraguay 5. Paraguay was actually very developed before the "Triple Alianza" war. But imagine going to war against three countries. And then a war against Bolivia. It sadly devastated Paraguay. There was even a war where children had to fight because there were no men left, Batalla de Acosta Ñu 6. Paraguayans are very welcoming and friendly people Hope you visit again! 😊
This video makes me feel like home 🥺 Missing the people and the terere✨ I’m a Japanese Paraguayan that’s living in Japan right now. I will be near Tokyo until February. If you guys have plans of coming here maybe we can see around Tokyo together!
@@luzmaria1485 Thank you for sharing your dream with me☺️ Being Mangaka it’s a difficult job. A lot of mangaka started drawing since young and debuted by repeatedly posting to publishers. So I think it’s about practice and learn from the criticism🤔 It’s difficult to send your manga since you are overseas but maybe you can learn by reeding another artist books, things like story composition , easy-to-understand frame division, character’s setting etc. And ask your friends to read your manga so they can share what they think. I know a Paraguayan that has graduated as an animator here. I know it’s another job but I hope it inspire you to pursue your dreams✨
Hey guys! I’m from Brazil, I live in the same state as Foz do Iguaçú, and yes, electronics are super overpriced here! The US$ 799 iPhone 13 is sold here in Brazil for 7599 Brazilian Reais, which is about 1300 dollars with the current exchange rates. It’s kind of insane. Paraguay used to be a no-brainer for me and my family when purchasing expensive items. Today since the Real has suffered big devaluation against the dollar, the advantages are not as big as before (when we could basically pay for a weekend trip to Foz do Iguaçu in a nice hotel just with the savings from choosing to buy things in Paraguay instead of Brazil), but they still exist.
Another issue is that bargaining is common in small shops so you end up paying lees than the price you are given first. However in larger stores like cellshop, mega electronicos or nissei prices are significantly lower than argentina and Brasil.
I can’t believe I just stumbled upon this video - I’m from Paraguay and lived in Sweden for a couple of years. I believe there are soooo many beautiful places in Paraguay, they’re just a bit harder to access without a car. I’ll continue following your journey from now on!
Interesting, fun video. I live in sweden but I’m half Paraguayan. I usually go to Asunción when I visit. But in Paraguay you have for example the jesuit ruins that are a part of Unesco world heritage. I love vacationing in asuncion, it hits different when theres less tourists.
You only have like 5 or 6 places to visit... It's kind of embarrassing for us for not being able to be some decent at least in order to increase the tourism
You guys, love the video, i am actually living in Ciudad del Este for almost 5 years, originally from Asuncion, and FYI about stores, they always close early due the open up at down, like 6 am and close around 2 pm or a little later because thats the time Brazilian buyers arrive, why? i really dont know hahaha but its the way it has always been, i was working at Itaipu Museum up to a few months ago, so i know a little about tourism here, if you need some help or pointers just le me know, Keep up the great work!!
Hi guys! For your question at 8:16 about pricing and savings... Well, you can sum up that by understanding that here in Paraguay there are not OFFICIAL stores from many international brands e.g. Apple. For instance, most of the prices youll see, are just arbitrary prices set by the very own sellers. And yes, prices of the very same items from Brazil are even higher, for that reason, is a great deal for many brazilians to come by and buy staff not only in C.D.E, but from all over Paraguay like P.J.C, Asuncion, Encarnacion, etc. Nice video and thnx to come by!
I lived in Paraguay for almost three years when I was a Peace Corps volunteer there. I loved the episode but you guys really need to visit more of the country. Cuidad de Este is not representational of Paraguay at all; think Tijuana and Mexico. Terere is an acquired taste to be sure but you get hooked on it literally after a few drinks. I love your channel!
Hey Guys!! Im from Foz do Iguaçu, and I used to live the past 2 years in NY, so I know the real prices, and yes things are a little overpriced in PY and A LOT in Brazil. In Brazil mainly because of the taxes for imported products, its HUGE and also the currency devaluation, our economy is going down everyday. In PY that also happens, but in smaller proportions because their economy runs around the dollar currency. I hope you guys went to do a little city tour also in Ciudad del Este, because the city is huge and has a lot of culture, Paraguai is actually a very friendly country and I love telling everybody how beautiful it is! I know covid made you see a little less than expected, but hopefully you'll have the chance to see more the country has to offer one day! xx
Gracias por visitar nuestro humilde país. No somos de primer mundo pero les recibimos con mucha humildad ya que eso nos caracteriza a nosotros. Sería genial también que tenga subtitulo el video ya que solo algunos sabemos inglés.
thank you guys so much for coming to Paraguay, specially to my hometown. I’ve never seen it portrayed in such an aesthetic way lol, hope you guys had best time ❤️
I loved the face of enjoyment when you tasted the tereré. Believe me guys, the weather in Paraguay is terribly hot! That's why we go with our guampa and termo with tereré everywhere. I hope you guys enjoyed that little trip around Ciudad del Este. Greetings from Asunción.
Heyy Guys! I’m from brazil and literally live near Iguassú Falls so i can explain some of your questions. First o all, most of the malls you saw didn't close because of Covid, some have been closed for years because of the unstable structure of the building. second, being Brazilian I can say that it is very worthwhile to cross the border and buy in Paraguay. in comparison, an iPhone 13 pro max 128gb costs US$1630 in Brazil, in Paraguay it costs US$1500. it may not seem like much, but it's like R$1000 reais of difference. My favourite mall in PY is Nissei Mall and Cell Shop Mall, they are the biggest and the best, you should have visited :( ! Hope your trip through Brasil was great! xoxo
Thanks so much for the info Pedro!🙏 We did go to Nissei (we think lol) but nothing seemed open there😟 We had an amazing time in Brazil, more vids to come!✨
@@karaiwonder Yes! in Apple official site the price is higher but here in Brazil we have so many stores that we can find Apple products at a much lower price. Like Best Buy in the US
Hey guys! Just to let you know, most of the malls you showed saying "it was devasted by covid" well, it was difficult but actually, these stores open very early in the morning, normally 7am some of them at 5am. So as the shift is 8 hours per day in Paraguay they close around 3pm, a few of them at 4pm. I wish we could have met and guide you around.
6:19 That's exactly where I work, that CHINA building is our office from Mondays - Fridays. lol nice to see y'all enjoyed... Could've wished to see u guys and say Hi !!
Hi. I'm from Asunción, and in Ciudad del Este businesses usually open really early in the morning and they close at around 2 pm, because of the one hour time-zone difference with Brazil.
You're lucky you went to Ciudad del Este instead of Asunción. But anyways, Ciudad del Este is like the shopping for Paraguay and Asunción is just the place we must go for paperwork. The actual cultural stuff is found in the rural areas of Paraguay. Probably you won't come back but for anyone planning to visit Paraguay for the first time, please don't stay on Asunción that place sucks. You can come to Encarnación instead, or you can go to a trip to Paso Patria which is an awesome place too.
Downtown in ciudad del este, as chaotic as it is during daytime, is deas during night. You should spend the afternoon around lago de la República and then head to the bars nearby
I live in Brasília and the culture of buying in Paraguai is so strong that we have a market big enough to be called a shopping mall called ''Feira do Paraguai'' ''Market from Paraguai'' Edit: Yes here in Brasil due to taxes some people go to Paraguai or even to the US buy phones, for example the New iPhone 13 Pro Max in Brasil costs R$15.500 (for an idea i paid R$16.000 for my CAR) about $2.800 dollars, in the US the phone costs like $1.100 $1.600 the highest
Algumas pessoas aqui no Paraná quase todas as cidades tem excursão de ônibus para o Paraguai e São Paulo são viagem de bati e volta só pra fazer compra ja em São Paulo e mais para roupas
The chinese things in Paraguay are actually from Taiwan. It's complicated, they both claim that they're China because the former chinese governor was deposed in a coup on the mainland and he went to the island of Formosa, also known as Taiwan, , the last loyal place, and the place stayed loyal until now.
I loved seeing how they visited my country I am from Asunción and I loved seeing how they showed things in my country and told everything with the truth I love you guys, sorry for my English
This is the thing, i live in Uruguay. Technology stuff prices all over Latin America are hyper overpriced. But.. this is the rule: Paraguay is the most cheap and the other country that is the cheapest is Chile. In Brasil all tech stuff have double the price of Chile and maybe Paraguay, But The Mega expensive countries of all Latin America are Uruguay and Argentina. Here the price of any tech item is the triple. That's the rule guys.
Hola buenísimo vídeo, la yerba del tereré que te hizo probar es muy fuerte, hay de los que son con menta que tienen un sabor más agradable y suave, sobre todo refrescante. 😊
Asunción was literally the "Mother of Cities" 🤔 First ever city to be founded in South America and has been the capital of the "Río de la Plata" Conquest before the Province was divided due to a petition by governor Hernandarias, He introduced an initiative to split the Río de la Plata district in two: the Province of Buenos Aires and the Province of Paraguay,. And then, Buenos Aires became more important due to its easy access to the sea.
The passport bit had me cracking up, same with the Christmas in October! I used to work with a bunch of teachers from the Philippines when I lived in Thailand and they started celebrating Christmas in SEPTEMBER :-o
The price you see are in (real, brasilian currency). And Ciudad del Este commerce area is only open until 3pm. And the dam is the biggest hydroelectric in thr world .wish you had Paraguayan to shoe you around.
The problem in Paraguay is that Itaipu' Dam would have sufficient power for Brazil and PY. But because the paraguayans sell a lot of electricity to other countries....we (en PY) remain very often without power!!!!A great shame!!
The story telling of the country was wrong guys! Asunción was one of ther pioneers cities in America and was founded even before to Buenos Aires. Another thing, before the contruction of Itaipú dam, a beautiful falls called "As 7 quedas" was there and was very samefull to Yguazú falls. Regards!
Everything is overpriced in Brazil, so there's your response HAHAHAHA My mom went there last year and the flights + everything she got + the airbnb + food + tourism in Foz do igraçu still were cheaper than just buying all the stuff in Belo Horizonte (where we live)
@@danilotavares6105 não precisa concordar nem discordar. São fatos. As coisas que ela comprou + o gasto saíram mais barato que comprar aqui. Não tem que discutir nada. Foi isso que aconteceu. É chato ter que explicar o básico.

I sure did not expect to see a huge shopping mall in the middle of Paraguay. Give me shopping and I’m happy. I can’t wait to see the next video, looks like fun!❤️👍✈️
Unfortunately, many communities and families were displaced and torn apart by the construction of Itaipu Dam. The 17 Waterfall complex that was partially demolished with dynamite now sits below the surface of the water in the reservoir created by Itaipu Dam. The 17 Waterfall complex was called “Sete Quedas” or Seven Falls named after the seven largest waterfalls in the complex. There was vibrant tourism with various rope bridges crossing the falls. This waterfall was larger than Iguazu Falls and with a much greater flow rate. Many lost jobs and income related to the tourism lost from the Seven Falls destruction. Imagine Niagara Falls being destroyed. No one would stand for it. Truly a tragedy.
The reason prices are so high in Brazil are the (mainly import) taxes. Around half of the price you pay for imported goods (like an Apple Watch for example) is just taxes... Also, thanks for the perfect timing of this video. I'm actually going to Foz do Iguaçu and Paraguay in the beginning of January (country #38 for me) and I'm super hyped about it :)
@@OskarandDan Thank you!! Would you mind telling me where you found that driver to cross the border into Paraguay) and back into Brazil)? I'm still not sure how I want to cross that bridge :P
