I have been watching your videos for some time now. I am totally impressed with your family's work ethics. Every day can't be peaches and cream. You take the good and the bad and hope to wind up somewhere in the middle. If I may offer some encouragement I think I speak for a lot of people who enjoy watching your clips. Please don't be discouraged. Thank you so much for sharing your business with all of us.
I've owned my business for nearly twenty yrs and let me tell you I've to work twice as hard but I wouldn't have it any other way . Thank you God . Amen
Hi Emerald, just wanted to let you know that I truly appreciate you sharing with us you and your beautiful famalie's hard work and determination to be self sufficient and provide a much needed service to our economy. No matter what negative comments some idiots may write , there are people like me who really know and understand what you are doing and fully support you. I will at some point share my story with you. For now, I send my best regards and pray for your continued success!
love your channel. This video reminded me of an incident, several years ago a friend of mine bought a new saw, took it to his landing and promptly backed over it with a JD 550. nothing salvageable.
I wouldn’t know anything about owning a business or even running a business, but I am a hell of a worker, when given the opportunity, but lady I haven’t been on your channel long, but from what I see and hear from you,, you are marvelous! The way you explain the business and all, you are incredible business owner, God bless you, your family, business constituents, and Bless all of your RU-vid followers.
I've watched your channel for a while now and have just kept my mouth shut. I wonder how many of your viewers know how hard the work that you do is. It's good to see people following the American dream and profiting from the fruits of their labor. It's truly refreshing to see self reliant people who are not afraid to work. God bless and keep up the hard work. We're on your side.
I live in Mainesburg, which is in Tioga County. I'm curious where in Pennsylvania your log yard is. I enjoy watching you young ladies work that mill with cheerful attitudes. Blessings.
@@isaackvasager9957 not sure why either of you has to make this about gender or insinuate what a person should or shouldn’t wear. It really has nothing to do with it. Seems like you two have some hang ups. I wish you both all the best with them.
The trolls are always going to try to bring you down, no matter what you do. It's the only way they feel validated in their own insignificant and unfulfilled lives. Ignore them and keep doing what you're doing.
I'm getting my mill this summer . I have been watching a bunch of videos . I must say I have learned so much from you lady's . I'm a,grandpa and I know that yours is so proud of you all . Keep up the good work your building faith in mom and pop business again .
Hang in there gang! All of us that are self employed know exactly where you are coming from.. IT IS BETTER TO TRY AND FAIL THAN TO NEVER TRY AT ALL.👍😁 That is how we learn to be stronger. Well done all.😁
I enjoyed this post. I hope you all stay safe. I never had my saw run over but I saw several die that death during my days as a tree feller and firewood producer.
You are absolutely amazing!!! While other girls are out shopping on Amazon for the latest shoe you are helping your family make a living and putting actual food on the table. The world needs a whole lot more of people like you and your family in it. You all are absolutely beautiful people ❤️❤️🥰
Hi a good Business will all ways allow for repairs and maintenance i.e., in you're case say $1 per board sold and $10 per load of firewood sold put that money aside and before you now it this will relieve the stress of keeping the gear running .Cheers !!! You are all doing an awesome job and you're family are working really well together this is an inspiration to many people !!!
So pleased to see a family business working together. The 9 to 5 crowd are what society has become but your family is doing what built this country. Your dad is awesome and has passed those genes down to each of you.
Good to see the ear protection. Please consider the risks of long loose hair around equipment; flying chips while not wearing eye protection; moving heavy boards without steel-toed shoes; exposed skin around all the rough lumber, logs and other equipment. An injury could set you back a lot more than a broken blade. Protect yourself, please, and stay safe!
Your hard working family should be an inspiration to anyone. I grew up in a family owned architectural mill work business, and 75 year later it's still going under the management of my daughters. I'm as proud a dad of them as a dad could ever possibly be, and I'm sure their grand dad and great grand dad would be just as proud of them. To keep a business operating long term it takes young minds with new ideas. After college and entering our business, and 40 years later, I was tired, so I handed it off to my daughters. Their young minds and new ideas, and the hard work they did earning their rights to manage our business, they're taking it to a higher level. We have a Shaker sign over the door going into our millwork shop...Hands To Work, Hearts To God. Successful yes, and we know all the hardships you're experiencing. My dad had a saying...when things get rough, stick your chin out a little further and keep working. I see you doing that, and I see a lot of my family in your family. You're going to be ok.
In regards to the chainsaw: When out in the woods, I never lay my tools down on the ground. I lean them up against a tree. This way I can see them from a distance and it reduces the risk of running over them or forgetting about them.
So funny and random I came across this! I'm a amateur paleontologist and have collected fish fossils right across Lycoming Creek Rd and on Powys corner and up at Cogan House exit. I was planning on stopping at the sawmill this fall to buy lumber for building projects on my 350 year old house (CT). Never made it back but will probably in the spring!
We’ve been at this milling game for a while and although we’re part timers we still saw thousands of board feet per year. Other than the board drag back, our mill is almost identical to yours and we’ve seen about everything there is to see as far as things that go wrong. If you have any questions ask. Great videos btw.
Your whole family is the best. Mom and dad you did a wonderful job. If only more family could be like yours. It's a pleasure to watch your films. Makes me look back at my youth. I worked at a saw mill when i was younger.i'm 80 now.good job.mr.Bill
love your videos. Keep them coming. I dont think it was a pity party. I grew up on a farm and know all too well the challenges faced with equipment breakdowns.
wow, you boys and girls are really working your asses off for your family business. I've lots of respect for that! Keep up the great work and greets from Germany!
I'm pleased to know that you own a Bell's firewood processor. I live just 35 minutes from where they are manufactured in Perth, Ontario. I'm glad they were helpful in rectifying your machine repair.
I grew up on a small dairy farm. This is very similar to what daily life is like. You get up with a plan, stuff breaks, things happen. You deal with them, adjust your plan and keep moving forward. Many will refer to the lessons of hard work but that's not the greatest lesson. What you learn is flexibility, resilience and the determination to keep pushing forward. It seems like you're following the same path.
I didn't see the first video. I think it's good you show the reality of owning your own business. I own a small construction business. Everyone thinks I make a fortune. I constantly get comments about how much money I have. They don't see the reality at all. They can't comprehend how much it takes to stay in business. Keep it up.
I think showing the good AND the bad gives a more realistic view of what it is like to have your business. I also agree having a debarker is a money/time saver. Thanks for the video.
I'm in a similar boat here in Oregon. Just me my dad and uncle. Logging for other landowner's etc and managing our forest. It's a tough struggle no matter what. Glad I found your channel. Keep up the good work. And never quit!
Some people won't understand that what you and your family do isn't done in 8 hour days, it's 15-18 hour days rain or shine. In the heat of summer or the bitter cold of winter, that's the dedication that it takes to do what your family is doing.
Set backs are inevitably a part of any business ,you always overcome them by moving forward and not being negative. Your whole family is an inspiration ✨️ to accomplish a common goal and purpose, thank you for becoming my favorite videos to watch, keep up the great work!!😊
It's a good idea to keep extra solenoids on hand. Especially for the woodmizer. There are at least three of them on the mill that are identical and any one going out will leave the machine inoperable. Took me going down twice to realize I needed a spare on hand. Only takes 5 minutes to change any one out and your back in business.
so cute..words cant describe what you do and how your entire familiy inspire us......i have a bandsaw mill working with my brother in Corrientes Argentina ....
I have worked as a millwright in a couple of sawmills. Regardless of whether it's a small band mill like this or large multi million dollar sawmills, it's hard work and things go south all the time. Keep grinding away and keep your heads up. Good luck.
Adversity breeds success. Learn from your mistakes, keep spare parts on hand and treat your equipment right and you will do fine. Y’all are a great American success story
Keep pulling your boots on every morning and getting things done. We fellow business owners understand what you go through with equipment, weather etc. Keep the videos coming .
It’s usually the ones with nothing to lose that yell the loudest and judge the hardest. Keep up the good work. You’ve got a great channel that tells it like it is.👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
When i was a young kid i would run off to the saw mill. It was a john deere tractor with a belt that spun the roundsaw. Mom would look for me but she knew i was in good hands. Pap pap would cut fence posts and enough fire wood for the winter. It was hard work. But the smell of sawdust kept me coming back for more. I am 68 now and i close my eyes real tite and see the saw spin.❤❤❤❤
If you guys could bottle pride, hard work, ethics and spirit you would me billionaires, as a parent my heart would explode with pride watching you work together.
it is amazing to me what you have instilled in your children. i have lived my life trying to be the best that i can be. looking at what you have accomplished in a family owned business is nothing less than beyond anything i can comprehend and i manage more than a 100 men in a construction firm and only wish i could compare your daughters to my work force. i will only tip my hat to say you are a blessed man. keep doing you because at the end of the day you have it all. i wish nothing but the best moving forward
You have nothing to apologize for. I love Pa. and i love your videos . Im jealous of your independence and its so nice to see hard working people who are not glued to there cell phones. keep the videos coming. thank you
I ran over one of my chainsaws with a dumptruck. Lol. I feel your dad's pain... young lady, you and your family are doing something truly amazing. I'm in awe, every time I watch one of your videos with you and your siblings running a milling operation. You're family is an inspiration! Don't ever forget that
"M": Your wonderfully unscripted videos are valuable lessons in many ways. I particularly love your dry humor and sharp wit. You are very intelligent! It is good to see and begin to understand a bit about how you all interact with each other when coping with various internal attitudinal episodes which are familiar to all loving families. Your aggerate strength of perseverance and work ethic is gratifyingly endearing which makes your next video, even more, anticipated...so much so that I am sure we all wish your videos would be one hour long... However, indeed! We also understand the editing processing requirements would be just too great a burden. Thank you for so generously sharing your outstandingly beautiful family with us!!!
Fantastic coverage for your honest assessment of the darkest aspects of running a family logging business when unforeseen chainsaw circumstances occur or the most important primary machine breaks down it’s difficult to comprehend or recognise how theLT40 valued reliability will decreased through breakdowns and it’s always encouraging to see and hear how to overcome setbacks and unavoidable delays through a process of prognosis of trail and error repairing or offical channels for assistance and the serious enormity of down time productivity on your profit line however glaring reality of expenditure overheads is a constant companion you don’t want sadly incurred through unfortunate chainsaw accident or machinery faults that can a exasperating emotional awareness on your self worth credibility however I was encourage by the resourcefulness of your father and grandfather to overcome all obstacles and problems were put to the past and thankfully your family endured through it all and happily productivity continue very efficiently congratulations 🎉
We've been watching unit guys now for quite some time and I'm very impressed with your whole family how they work together as a team.. And very impressed. Keep up the good work will keep watching.
If it was easy everyone would do it. I have not had a weekend off in a year, trying to get my own business going. Getting thru the tough times is what makes or breaks you. Keep up the great work!
Keep up to great content, music suited well. Some people might get delusions of grandeur watching videos that do not show the good and the bad. Let them live in their bubble. Your videos are real! Yes stuff goes wrong. Find a fix and work around it, that is life. Thank you from someone who cannot get into the forest any more. You carry me there.
Safety tip for the peavy/cant hook. Push don't pull About the Husky, I have a 371 love it. Their customer service is awesome, so much so in 2009 I used 1 to clear a field in Iraq (for to open up our field of vision). I dropped a date tree on it, Husky sent me a new one no questions asked.
If showing the honest reality of your family’s work is comparable to a pity party in someone’s eyes they might should come and experience how things work first hand. I’m pretty sure they would have a different opinion. Keep up the great job with videoing and sharing the journey.
Its the nature of the business which are responsible for the struggle. You depend on many pieces of mechanical equipment, which is built for the job, but still rely on small pieces such as bearings and electronics which wear out or fail under such harsh conditions. Its also true that the more they are used, or the busier you are, the more often they will tend to break down. I know these things never happen at a good time, such is life... You all be very proud of your small family owned business, and never let circumstances erode your confidence or wear you down.
I know I may be repeating what others have said, but I can't help it because you and your family are just flat-out Awesome! Running any small business is extremely demanding let alone a physically demanding work like a Lumber Yard! Later on in life you will look back at this time and know you stand head and shoulders above your piers.
I stumbled into your channel because I doing some searches for a hitch crane on a pickup truck. My grandfather is from Ironwood Michigan and he absolutely loved anything to do with logging, hunting and Finish culture. So I was fascinated with the activities you guys were doing. I don't know if you said in any of your videos, but if you're not proud of your family I'm proud for you. you guys are bunch of tough*"'::"&. Healthy family; good job!
My grandfather was from Painsdale, south of Houghton. He was a copper miner. My grandmother brought my dad to Chicago when he was 13, so that’s where we were raised. But my heart belongs to the U.P.
Yes equipment breaks and you lose out on positive work time but you still have family that help each other repair things. A great video that shows what can go wrong and what is done to correct it.Thank you for your honest attitudes in your videos.Hope your whole family has a great week
I have a mobile saw mill and have started to work on milling my own flooring for a house my wife and I want to build. We are gonna use black walnut for the flooring in out house. It is such a fun and rewarding thing to do to mill our own lumber.
Ha, I've seen many saws get mangled in the woods. The worse was one was pinched in a tree while felling, the tree hopped off the stump and the saw went under the tree, the total weight of the tree was standing on it. As the tree fell it spun and completely demolished the saw. The saw shop said they could not even salvage a screw from the carcass.
Enjoyed your video. I own an LT40 and mill by myself. It's slow. Especially the logs that are 30"+ at the small end. At 1:07 get on the other side of the PV and push. You are way stronger pushing than pulling.
You girls are pretty amazing. Your family is hard working. I know there are ups and downs but I don't think I'm going out on a limb here in saying that I'm sure whatever comes your way in life you will make it out on top. You give a very articulate commentary on the videos. When I was your age I was a hard worker as well but I don't think I had the brains or the business smarts you have. I was more like an ant. Wind me up, show me exactly what needs to be done... And then I go all day till it's finished. I appreciate that all of you are trying to grasp every aspect and ins and outs of the whole business and process. There are not many kids out there that show this type of reflection and foresight in what they do. I really think you could write a book some day about the whole experience. Peace
Anybody who says you are having a "pity party" has absolutely NO idea of work and what it takes to actually run a business. Good for you in your perseverance. I have a lot of pine trees on my land and am thinking about getting a small sawmill.
You young ladies and in fact as a family are fantastic, i could rule the world with people like you guys, so keep up the great representation of young people, i am British and work offshore Oil and Gas and am in Iraq right now and will use your Videos in our training facility to inspire young people here in Iraq that with hard work anything is possible, thank you once again.
Applaud you for all the work in running a business. It takes a lot of determination and perseverance. Thanks for sharing all the good the bad and the ugly.
Don't pay any attention whatsoever to negative comments. Especially if they blame you for posting about your "pity party." There is a German word, schadenfreude, that means pleasure derived by someone from another person's misfortune. Internet trolls that like to post negative comments love shadenfreude. Keep up the good work and know that normal people love your videos and what you and your family are doing.
You have a beautiful family boss man & boss lady, pat yourselves on the back, you've done a wonderful job with your children. You can't ask for anything more than to be associated with ethical, loyal & loving people, be it your own or otherwise. Good luck to your future ventures. 🎵😎🎵
Pay no attention to the keyboard critics .....most people your age today have no clue how to tie their shoes let alone run a business like yours .....keep up the good work there are alot of people that enjoy your videos. Would like to see the critics put in a half a day that you put in .
Looks like youv'e got youselve's a nice little set-up there to me.Stick with it and you will make it work, and watching your video work is something you are not afraid of.well done
I am very impressed by the entire families work ethic and desire to do what is necessary to get the job done. Bravo to all of you, keep up the good work!!! You don't see this much desire and effort put into working anymore, especially the ladies..
I appreciate your transparency. No need for concern to those who don't realize what hard work is but think typing a stupid and hurtful comment is okay. Thank You. for the video.
There's always good times and bad. I've seen saws run over worse than that and put them back together. It's been a rough few days around here to. My brother had a heart attack Thursday but he's doing better now. That's just it we don't know what's gonna happen from day to day. Just gotta do the best we can. Y'all take care and have a blessed week and I'll see you on your next vidja.
