In 2022 my wife and I set out on a tandem bicycle to ride across the United States. Beginning in Astoria, Oregon we had no idea if we could make it but 96 days later, we ended up in Washington DC. We chose to go it alone with no support and stayed in campgrounds, fairgrounds, churches, hostels, city parks, Airbnb's, motels, hotels and people's homes. The first half of our trip followed that TransAmerica trail and the last half was the Eastern express for a total of 4,200 miles. We met so many amazing people and was extended kindness in more ways than we could have imagined. To say the least, we live in a great country!
