We present a drive in movie night each year at our school-St. Martin of Tours in St. Louis. This year the theme was Route 66- here is a tribute to that fabled road
i guess this was the last of the good old day's. how times have changed. seems like in just a blink of an eye! wouldn't it be nice to have just one day like it was then.
Here I am, wiping away tears as I type this. I grew up in a small industrial town in New Jersey, with all sorts of factories and tree-lined streets. Now the factories are either warehouses of imported goods or vacant, and many of the trees have been cut down for wider streets.
The song, the pictures. A time that was, perhaps, a bit slower and a whole lot steadier. If you like this as much as I did, do yourself a huge favor and go rent the video CARS. You will love it. May have been the best thing I've seen in the theaters for years. You'll laugh -- and you'll even shed a few tears!
Ask what is the American dream, Route 66 embodies the American dream, it's spirit, hardship, and hope, as well as the people that make it. A good portion of American history lies on that road, such as the first McDonald's or the 66 Drive-in Theater, still in business. It isn't just a road, it is the route that has binded America together.
