Very nice. I've used most of the show Klien tools and they do their jobs nicely. I'd add in a Netscout Linkrunner 2000 and some sort of certification tool for installs. The companies I've been working with lately are really starting to want traceability of installed cables. Nice video guys!

Very informative video which shows what's out there on the market to make installing cabling easier and at least you have told us the names of these products too and it goes to show that we do not need to spend a fortune to get the job done. Thanks very much for an informative video.

That MERAY for the drop ceiling is GENIUS!! That can literally cut a job time down so much, or even turn a 2 person job into one.. I use to put electrical tape in the area to help the cable not get stuck and get tore up, which didn't work all the time..

Southwire was founded in my hometown. Their tools division is relatively new (5ish years or so). My co-worker and I know one of the top designers for their low voltage tools and got to "beta test" their top-end $80 punch down tool. We each have a prototype of what eventually became the final end product after we told them what few flaws we noticed. It is the best PDT I have ever used, and a lot of their other low voltage stuff (wire mappers, toners, etc) is top notch as well. However, I have heard some electricians complain about their meters.

Pretty good I like the Magnepull. I have been Networking a long time own a Fluke Optiview XG and a Fluke One Touch ATG2. Got tired of using my really expensive gear for just wiremapping & wire testing so looked around and found the Oyafa series testers I use the model NF-8601S. Its a really fast wire mapper with wire length--open-short-and distance to fault/TDR/POE tester with wire position. It will pull a DHCP and ping and trace rt. Its inexpensive and have used it for about 3 years and have beat the shit out of it too and it keeps working. I recommend it. I use it more than any of my Fluke gear. The other thing that's an absolute must is using Beldens 1697B Cat5 cut down tool & pick. If your still untwisting cat 5/6 wires to connector them your about 10 years behind. Belden pick is easy & fast and the wire is straight. Buy multiples of this little tool you will use it all day.

We had a guys cutting shielded cat6 cable runs in a factory for the Unifi Video heads. Used our Cable testing tool to find the distance of the breaks. Worth every penny as it tells you the distance of breaks, shorts, misswires. Break was 127m along the run, very difficult to find as the cable was up 40m in the steel beams in a full factory. Eventually we went into the building at 9pm worked till 4am to fix the cable while all the staff where at home. Bam next morning the owner called me. They caught the guy who had been stealing. Looks like he was cutting the cable to disable the camera!

@markalmada9662 5 лет назад
Man oh man, how many times we come across this issue. Previous company has multiple switches comms cabinets located all over the place no labels no diagram. Its always worth the effort to remove all dead wood by tracing a d labeling. A tool like the network mapper tester makes this job so much easier. We colour coordinate the cable at the end to make it visually simple in future. For a big effort upfront it pays dividends over the life of the systems if you support them. Good luck. Buy the Klein network tester the guys have in the video. Worth every penny

Are you guys still using the Scout 2 and the distance meter, or have you switched to the Scout 3 that has distance built in? I have the 2 and I was considering the 3 (and willing to accept the inaccuracy most of these things have) until you showed off that distance meter with the ability to select the wire type. I often find that I'm working with 20 year old CCA Cat5 on one day and then I'm running my own Cat6 23AWG riser cable the next day, and those are bound to give wildly different distance results...

@@oaguilarm I have one and while it does some things nicely I'll concur that it has tons of bugs. I haven't gone through the firmware update process so I don't know which of those problems have been fixed yet. I mostly bought it when it seemed like the least expensive "distance to fault" tester, but now the Klein Scout Pro 3 does that, and I might upgrade my Pro 2 to that and eliminate both tools. The Pockethernet has tons of features that aren't on the Klein tools, and I'll keep it in my car, but the Klein tools are so fast and easy to use.

Remember that alot of cheapish devices can't send the same distance as the unifi pro broadcasts. for example when planning a mesh wireless coverage. WAP sends a signal 400m but Droid smartphone can only send 120m. (Example) wifiman app from unifi really helps with planning. Also check onsite physical layout and impediments such as steel beams in the line of sight. Just an example. Check spec of WAP then check what the client uses to connect. Distance from each AP and obsticles onsite are important. Take an AP onsite test coverage. I have a customer with racked storage filling the warehouse. We found after a survey they needed an AP for each row of racked shelving as they are full floor to ceiling with pallets of dense cardboard. Impenetrable for the AP in the next row killing the mesh signal. More AP's required due too the physical obsticles. If mounting on steel beams put wood behind the AP to mount it helps with reflection between the steel beams.

I’m sorry but buying cheap tools because you may drop them off a ladder or lose them is not sound advice for professionals. Also as a side note professional grade tools can typically be dropped off ladders and survive. My best advice for you is to buy a real label maker like a Brother industrial model as in will pay for itself it labor/tape savings on the first job. Batch print serialized labels for the first time and your life will be forever changed. The Magnapull is a fantastic tool, cheers for that tip.
