Hi. Apologies for the late response. I have only just come across your channel. The Troopy fit-out is impressive. Clearly well thought through and carefully designed. Fit n Finish appears to be excellent. Having recently sold my new Troopy, because of weight limitations, I would be interested to know if you have weighed yours. I found I was nudging, and sometimes over, the 3300 kg GVM. Regards
Hi, we are really happy with the fitout and it’s working well for us. We haven’t actually weighed it fully loaded but we have had a GVM upgrade done to 3900kg.
Hey guys Have gone back to look at your gear bag I love it Would you be able to tell me the dimensions of your fire pit as I would like to to something similar I just bought a darchie one from bcf 450 by 450 it seems way to heavy and big was going to go back and swap for the smaller one it’s 310 by 310 Thanks for the videos
Cheers mate. We went with a Duoetto MK2 , electric heater with 10 litre storage. Hasn’t had a lot of use but has been good so far. That digital display unit was an extra so we can set/adjust the water temp on that.
best setup ive ever seen! Great ideas, i hope i can make mine similar to yours but i do also have my own ideas. im only 16 but im so excited to get my own troopy one day and travel around australia!
Thanks for watching! We have a more recent video of the Troopy fitout 12 months on if you’re interested. We appreciate your comments…don’t lose sight of your goal!
Excellent build, awesome setup on the Troopy, I myself got a 76 with the same Sandy Toupe colour, question 270 awning what brand was it again? Thanks so much.
@@jeritoyo76 Dingo do the fabrication work and BDM Leather & Canvas do the canvas, they are both in Rockingham. Shout out if you want contact details 👍
Fantastic build. I could copy almost everything. Some questions, can you teach the fridge through the window from outside? How much of your food do you cook indoors vs outdoors. We have an overland pickup today, and about to get a troopy for long trip. But today we cook everything outdoors and we like that. But…
Hi, Yes we can access the fridge through the side window but never do. We have a console fridge between the front seats now so tend to keep a few cold cans in there which is easier than the big fridge. Like you, we prefer to cook outside so cooking inside rarely happens. Having said that, we do use the travel buddy oven if it's rough outside and have heated soup up using induction cooktop but anything major is done outside. Good to have options though.. Cheers for watching .
Could you tell us what electrical system you're using? Inverter, battery size etc.... Great setup. I love the wood storage cupboards etc. Really well thought of. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
Cheers John, the electrical system is Enerdrive. 200ah lithium battery, 2000w inverter, 40a dc2dc charger and 40a 3 way AC charger. There’s a 200w redarc solar panel on the roof and a 200w solar blanket that we carry but haven’t needed to use yet.
This is a great video! I am just now building out my Troopy. I would love to know where you get the Air, Water, and Solar input panel on the outside. That would be a great addition
Wow!! Very nice build! Here in the US, we obviously don't get the new 70 series trucks and since the 300 came out, we don't get the Land Cruiser at all. I looked at importing a older troopy, but with all of our highways here the old inline motors just can't get the job done. Thanks for sharing the build.
Great video and fantastic Troopy build. I just bought one and am looking to build it out. The slat bed is awesome and all the storage is really, really well done. What size wheels/tires does your Troopy have and what front bar are you using?
Yasss! I was hoping you guys were going to show the awning! We have the same one, I wish we got ours powder coated aswell though! I’m planing that our next video will be a full review of this piece of art, nice video guys. Have subscribed
Cheers guys. We were just going to show inside the troopy but decided to show the awning cos it’s so damn good 💪🏼. The black powder coating works well with the sandy colour so stoked we did that.
Cheers Julian, it’s made by Patrol Australia. Not sure if we showed it in the vid but it has another part that folds out to double the size. www.patrolaustralia.com.au/collections/toyota-75-76-78-series/products/toyota-75-78-series-troopy-deluxe-barn-door-tables?variant=42751176179899
I like the external water and air ports, Ive been thinking of something like that on my camper to keep hose connections our of the car. Can I ask what the ports are?
Hey mate, the panel came from Thorburns Fabrication. It has 4 blank ports that you can use for whatever you like. We have used 3 of the 4. Water inlet goes to our underbody water tank. Anderson Plug for solar blanket and ARB air compressor outlet which means we can inflate without having to open up the back of the car. Check out the Insta page for @highcountry.4wd they make a similar panel that has a hinged door that covers the ports.
Fantastic setup and fit out surfaces appear to be easy clean. Toilet solution? Have new troopy on order due here (Sydney) Feb 2023 looking to do solo trip (recently divorced).
Cheers mate, we have a thetford porta potti we can set up in the shower cube if need be. It lives in the large storage box under that lift up lid on the passenger side. I bet you’re counting down the days til next Feb 🤙🏼
Thanks for fast response. Not in a hurry expect to start solo lap/s end 2023 or 2024. Thought these may assist you - cleanwaste.com/ used it tent camping for a few years with Hilux - works well. Recommended to me by a friend - www.cmca.net.au/
What a great build. Looking at getting Troopy and just absorbing as many ideas to see what would work (or not) for us. Your build looks close to perfection. So many great ideas and Perth fabricators I hadn't heard of. Thankyou for posting this and have fun on your travels!
Hi Mark! Thanks for watching and thanks for reaching out. We love the fitout, it works perfectly for us. The height of the bench seat is 500mm without the cushion. We had the bench seat built the same height as the fridge.
@EscapingCrowds i have couple of pictures to help but can't workout how to send them ,now my son tells me not possible to send in this forum. Is pics of your fitout and i was after measurements. Do you have email or messenger
Hey guys just stumbled across your channel while researching troopys Might be a personal question just wondering how you guys find living out of the troopy How do you find getting in and out of the bed We are in our early 50s reasonably fit My wife was thinking a caravan where as I hate towing I have wanted a troopy for along time and I think I’ve finally convinced her Also just the places you can go without the bother of a van , we have always been a minimalist type campers Our plan to start with will be just short trips a couple of months a year I think a troopy would be perfect Love your build and keen to see more of your travels
Hi mate! Thanks for checking out our channel. We got the Troopy for the exact same reasons you’ve mentioned. We love the idea of being able to get to places and camp that you just can’t access when towing. We are of a similar age and haven’t found anything about the Troopy an issue. It’s the rooftop conversion that has made it a liveable vehicle which we love. We are outside most of the time but the roof conversion has made it liveable inside when needing to escape the weather. Getting in and out of the bed is easy. We also have an Instagram page (@escaping_crowds) which you can check out and DM if that’s easier. Cheers Paul and Tan
