Eh, it's kind of a camper. But buses, trains and planes are slowly going out of business. They have deep pockets, but so did Montgomery Ward and they're gone.

Y'all did the right thing. TV is dying. People want to see exactly what they're interested in, and that's what RU-vid is for. There will probably be more platforms in the future, but they will still be on the internet. Having someone telling y'all what to do would be obvious and weird. Thanks for all the awesome stuff to watch and now listen to. I'm definitely digging the podcast

Something that always stuck out to me from what a coworker said many years ago is a good example for you two with this - always think about what's best for you because no one else will, especially when it makes you compromise your beliefs. Honestly, "fake it 'til you make it" only stresses and burns you out.

oh man. I've had very similar experiences a few times now, where the companies had this whole character that they wanted me to play. On top of that, they already had the builds designed and a team to build them. It felt super uncomfortable. It really made me lose interest in doing TV.

I think it shows in the final products too! Thankfully it seems like a lot of people like real life stuff more and are coming to RU-vid not only as a place for information and cat videos but for longer form entertainment videos too which is really exciting!

I can totally understand you, being free to do what you like cant be paid in money. I also like to live with a bit less money than possible, but be able to have time for my stuff and do it my way. Also this whole contract thing is crazy and in my eyes nothing for creative and free minds if its so strict and binding. Stay true.

I have a question for you guys. Do you watch or have you watched Mr. Kate on RU-vid? It just made me think of it when you were talking about shows not really doing room makeovers and it's basically like a whole house per episode. I feel like Mr Kates channel is a good blend between a tv show and youtube, because they make it feel sorta like one of those HGTV shows, and they have a whole team working on it, but they are still 100% themselves and it's all their ideas (a husband and wife duo). Just learning what I have about Katelyn from yalls youtube and podcasts I've seen so far, I feel like yall might like that channel if you haven't yet seen it. And while I also can't do a lot of what they do, I definitely take inspiration from some of it for my own home :)

Yeah... Honestly every one we've talked to gives shady vibes! After we've felt those vibes from so many, we're beginning to think maybe it's not shady exactly, it's just manipulative but it's because it's their job to get you to say the right things to give you the best shot at getting the role. But since we would only want a role where we could 100% be ourselves, it's a negative thing for us. So glad you're liking the podcast!!

With RU-vid there is a clearer metric of interest in views, comments, likes and obviously subscriptions. There is also a sense of transparency to all viewers with regards to the values of those metrics. Network TV is a legacy platform that is being succeeded by services like RU-vid where the content is community driven. Likely in part because modern generations tend to lean in favor of the connection they get to feel with their entertainers, the tangible human element that is abundant in channels like yours.

The Trailer Park Boys, and Are You Afraid of the Dark? Didn't think those Canadian classics made it all the way to Texas. For the record Are You Afraid of the Dark was WAY better than Goosebumps. Also this all seems pretty fair use. Is there an appeal process if a video is demonetized?

I didn't know Are you afraid of the dark was from Canada, cool! Yeah it was in Nickelodeon growing up. Trailer Park Boys is definitely a more obscure down here! There is an appeal process but I think if you get denied there might be some sort of punishment... For us we just left it and let it be (we did actually get a copyright claim on this one)
