Our unexpected surprise 

I want to take just a second here to talk about a man's "strong face". When they were accepting that award, that was Granger's strong face. Amber wears her heart on her sleeve and is open and vulnerable and cries when she needs to cry....and that is amazing and there is no apology ever necessary for that....but Granger's face. I know that face because it's my face when I want nothing more than to just break down and let the weight of the world off of my shoulders. He doesn't speak except to say thank you at the end, he plays with his ring to distract himself, he crosses his arms to protect and hold himself together...but the deep swallows to keep the sob away and the glaze of tears over his eyes that he won't allow to fall betray him. It's the same thing I do, and I'm sure many men like me do to keep it together. I cry and hurt in private...usually in the woods or on the water when nobody else is around. I break when I'm alone so that my family and friends know that I'm strong and have it under control. There's probably a song you could write about that lol....but buddy know this....I know the face of a father and husband that is trying to "be strong". You're doing an amazing job taking care of your family and trying to make the best and move forward from the most tragic of situations. God bless you my friend.

Please never feel the need to apologize for loving River so deeply and missing him that you cry or are sad, there is no need to apologize.

A brave face can be the hardest thing to put on some days. Today we lost our amazing grandma. My grandma prayed diligently for years during my darkest times. Her persistence wasn't in vain. I praise God for her. For her love and generosity. She never gave up on any of her children. I watch the Smith's every episode and can't thank you enough for sharing your walk with us. It is a light on a dark day to see you be honored for the strength you show. I love you and will continue to pray for you.
