When my grandsons were in grade school they walked about three blocks and within those three blocks there were "Four homes with "Safe Hse stickers in the window" which meant that there is somebody home in that house and if anybody bothers you, you can run to one of those homes!!! The boys knew this and always felt safe walking to school!!! That's North Dakota!!
@shawneenhammer4241
@shawneenhammer4241 2 года назад
He had a sign in our window and we went by the rules of those signs on the way to and from school the schools actually even went there and checked up on the people and made sure that they were on the up and up to have the signs and the cops made regular visits to the people with the signs and their Windows to make sure they were a safe haven. Yeah definitely different times. We lived in Williston and used to sled with our toboggans from the top of the house up by the chimney all the way down into the yard because the drifts were always up and over the house and usually stayed up on one side for the most part of the winter. 🌬️💨🌨️🌪️❄️🥶✌️❤️🌏

If you somehow end up in NoDak, please don’t ask why it’s so cold. We simply tell you, “it’s North Dakota”.. We assume you’re from Georgia or somewhere like that.

This last winter was my first in North Dakota. I came from California. It was brutal. Especially if your working in the oil field. The basics I recommend to keep you from freezing are…. Under armour 4.0 tops and bottoms. Short sleeve cotton t shirt over your base layer, sweaters over your base layer bottoms , a sweater over your t shirt, jeans over your sweats , a work shirt over your sweater , insulated bibs over your jeans , insulated coat over your work shirt , insulated mucks or baffins for boots. Do not wear steel toes your feet will freeze. And an insulated ski mask or balaclava. Don’t forget cotton liner gloves and insulated gloves. You wear that to vowel out there and you’ll be good. Always pack an extra pair of clothes and socks when working in the oilfield lol

I can't imagine someone coming from a warm climate like California to North Dakota to work in a oil field. You are a hard worker. I lived here all my life. I could not do it.

I'm coming to minot in January to work in the oilfield. I'm from Mississippi where our winters are in the 50s and summers are in the 100s. I've been working offshore in deepwater where it's even warmer. Good information to know on what to wear. I ever actually seen "real" snow before 😂
@gvinnydog5500.
@gvinnydog5500. Год назад
@@Thaggard_is300 I don't mean this to be rude, but you are in for an experience if you have never been in a climate below zero. It is horrible. Make sure you have a cloth face mask, warm gloves, and boots. Buy some of those heat warmers for hands. Your feet and hands get cold faster, and head too.

Cotton? Why not polyester or wool? I’m from Cali too & cotton is favored by Californians because it’s breathable. I would want to preserve my body heat as much as possible. Cotton isn’t the way to go. 🥶

You can't play snowballs in ND. The snow is too cold to clump together. Fun fact: In ND, because snow is a non sticky powder, it moves easily in the wind. So you may wakeup with 2 meters of snow on one side of your house and no snow on the other. Crazy!
@Electrobuzz17

Hello to people in Minot North Dakota. I am born and raised in Central Texas and have never experienced the kind of weather you live with. I am amazed at how resilient you must be. We had that cold snap down here couple years ago and it crippled our whole state. Since then I've been curious about living in your weather and how you live. I saw Minot on a map and been studying it online. God Bless you people and don't forget what incredible Americans you are. Thank you and God Bless.

To answer your question, on any given day, right before a cold front, the jet stream can buckle up twords the north and send heat up. We can be just as hot as Texas, or sometimes hotter. It could be 105 for 5 days, then drop to 65 after the cold front moves through. Our heat usually lasts starting in June to September. Hottest it has ever been is anywhere from 120 , lowest is 60 below. Last week, in January, the low was 24 below. Today in February, it got to 35.
