We make our final preparations for the start of the critical 2031 season. Have we improved the team enough to have a winning record, which we might need to keep our job?
Damn!! That sucks that the development program for Ortega dropped from on track to unsuccessful in just one day!! Does seem tough to get success from those but thought with one day to go it was pretty well set. Can’t wait to see him in the lineup but think it are wise to hold him back a while longer. I’m really confident that this is going to be a good season. Impressed with the squad you’ve put together and think there’s every chance you’ll succeed on most of the owners goals this time. Never sure what is actually needed to achieve the Fan Interest goal as you’ve already improved it so much but think a winning season will see it move closer towards the 60’s and hopefully that’s enough to secure that one🤞🏼Good luck 🍀
Thank you. It would definitely be great if we could get fan interest to 60+ by this time next season… hopefully winning some games will help! It’s a bummer that Ortega did not improve, he is a critical player for our future!
I’m very excited for this team, and am very optimistic for a big bounce back year!! Is, I know it doesn’t help anything but it IS a little sad to see Ben Giddens projected as the best hitter in baseball for the upcoming year - he was so close to being an Oakland A back in that Pennyman draft.
Very nice, team is looking good for this season! I do want to say though that I am not a fan of those EXFB relievers with sub-average HRA, I think they are a risk that you dont necessarily need to take (although the risk is admittedly a small one with them on minor league deals. I just dont think they are have a great chance of panning out for you.) Small question: If Ortega is to make his debut this season, would starting him off in LF take a bit of strain off of him and allow him to ease into the majors better or is that something the game doesnt factor in? Looking forward to seeing how this season goes!
Thank you. I'm looking forward to it also! I agree the flyball pitchers who struggle to keep the ball in the park are not optimal... hopefully I won't need them, but if we have some injuries and aren't able to make a trade for significant help, at least there are some inexpensive bodies we can throw at the problem who might not be complete disasters! It's a good question on Ortega. My sense is that CF is a more demanding defensive position than LF, so over time he might be a little less fatigued if we played him in LF, but I'd just be guessing if I tried to estimate the potential impact on him as he adjusts to MLB. Hopefully he'll be ready soon, regardless of where we end up playing him!
