Skating in DC as a kid it was impossible not to hear stories about this dude. Hes a local legend and his positivity and talent is on another level. Also love that he's teaching his girls how to rip and getting the shine he deserves. DMV represent! 🙌🏽✨
Here in Philly most of the legendary graffiti writers are cracked out meth heads or doped up off some pill.. the skaters are all loving hardworking dads now that hav no time for skating
I started skating in the hood in 93 quit in 00 and thugged it for 11 years. I started again in 2011 and haven’t stopped since. I’m clean and out the streets and doing good! I have three kids and this man inspires me so much! His story is dope! He the type of skater I love!
Go-Go on Thrasher. Amazing. Darren used to try to teach me tricks at Courthouse in DC. Just because he saw me struggling. Always been a real dude. A DC legend forever
probably shouldnt have tried to knock out his boss stevie williams.. probably why no one ever heard of him. punching the boss is a strong red flag in any business
The best dude. It’s easy to be bitter especially after the DGK stuff. Darren Harper is the real deal living legend putting on for his fam and his kids! Respect 1000%
Story I caught was Stevie trying to hold this man back from eating/gaining more $$ Stevie wants to be the ONLY rags to riches story in skateboarding he wants to be the only known solid ghetto success story. Stevie fed him, not really…
Dude as a Dad who enjoys skating with my daughter, this gets me right in the feels. Fills my heart with Good vibes. Your an awesome dad, much love from Oxnard California!
Much love and respect to this fine young man!!! It’s been a pleasure meeting him, playing music with him, watching the father he is!!!! Really proud of the man he is!!!
Tbh I never knew about Darren Harper. Honestly this is probably the best out there Thrasher has done. He seems like such an amazing human being & inspiring af. Definitely gonna look up his video parts now. Awesome skater
bra i just almost had a heart attack i had no clue DARREN HARPER WAS IN RARE ESSENCE GET THE FUCK OUTTA HERE ive been seeing this dude my whole life at Gogo's at freedom and never noticed this is the same guy i think my parents booked them for events before. WOOOOOOW this is amazing
Lmao grew up listening to them from my dad and seeing them at go-go’s too. Trust me never put 2 and 2 together either. Mind fucking blown. Legend in 2 forms.
Man i remember skating a bank in a skatepark with this guy in Conway Arkansas like 10 to 15 years ago. Darren is so good. One of the best sessions i ever had was that day both of us trying to stomp nollie backside flips on that bank. DGk was filming us. It was sick. Much love to Darren.....
Never met Darren but I feel so proud for him. Growing up watching his skate parts to seeing him become a great father and hardworking entrepreneur. Nothing but best wishes for him.
Genuinely happy to hear they squashed it and are friends. Sometimes drama is just way more entertaining but that's childish, it's all about progression and growth. Darren's positivity is magnetic
This was dope, Thrasher. Thanks. Coming from the era when Darren got on and was popping with Famous Stars and Straps, its nice to see where he is at a decade+ later.
DMV for life baby. go go, mambo, finest tree lowkey, baddest bittys and the chillliest people you will ever meet, dc heads are different we live around the true thugs of the world but we still manage to have some real ass people in the diamond. stop the gun violence though, to many my homies been dropping...... darrren the triple troiple OG bless up homie. shout out daniel kim, zacky, micky, james anderson, bobby, shaun (Rip) and lil homie willy (rip) you still got me fuck up homie love yall forever!!!
That ending had me in joyful tears, I was so hype for her to land that kick flip and her reaction aftr landng just beautiful moment w/dad life long memory
Darren was always a really nice guy and great role model when me and my boys were skating Pulaski all the time. We were the ones drinking all the time and getting into trouble. He kept things super positive and tried to steer people away from that stuff.
Used to watch his Get Familiar part and any other footage i could find of this dude so much as a kid growing up skating in 2006. Always thought he had the rawest style. fucking legend
If you’ve been to Freedom Plaza there was a good 90% chance he’d be high popping on the ledges. I’m happy to see him back. One of the immediate reasons I actually wanted to skate.
I remember skating freedom plaza 1994 he used to ask to borrow my skateboard he was a really polite young kid I was a kid at the time too I was like 18...I am happy to see he's doing good
