AFFILIATE LINK DISCLOSURE: Friends, making a quality Loloho video is kind of like making sausage - only slightly more violent. It's a ridiculous amount of work that typically involves high dollar camera drops, blue-screen-of-death computer crashes, and at least one angry shotgun wielding old man shouting, “Hey! Get the hell outta here!” Once the final video is posted, rewards here on RU-vid are few and far between (unless you are a masochist who enjoys being verbally abused by anonymous trolls). One saving grace is our affiliate links. JUST CLICKING THESE LINKS HELPS TO SUPPORT OUR LITTLE SHOW. Think of this clicking as like tipping - except that it doesn't cost you anything extra! If you eventually make a purchase via one of our affiliate links, we will receive a few pennies (and Sean typically invests these pennies in duct tape and video gear). Again, it doesn't cost you anything to click these links, and it's a great help to us. As always, safe travels, happy camping, and THANK YOU!

HEY YOU TWO!!!!! ... This is a long overdue thank you .... we picked up our 2022 Rockwood Mini Lite 2109s last year in Ohio, driving from Idaho, then drove up thru Michigan and across the states on I-94 till we got to Theodore Roosevelt National Park .... we stayed there 5 days and entered the Park twice a day and saw something different everyday ... thank you for the info and what a blast we had ... Thank you again and maybe we'll see you this fall in the Tetons ... Larry and Cathy

I live by the north unit of the park. I grew up on the west coast but have lived here for about 20 years. I miss my family and the smell of the ocean, but there is something majestic about watching a badlands sunrise and sunset every day. I hope you had a good time :)

We passed it by the first year., with just a stop at the welcome center. Have seen several reviews that suggest we made a poor decision, but not sure we will be near in the foreseeable future. Maybe we will just have to make an effort as part of a future Canadian trip. Across from the East, down into ND, over to the East side of Glacier and off to finish in CA. Maybe the reverse is a better plan. Have to give that trip a long think through. Thanks for the video. Thanks for the contribution you have made. Best wishes for a good recovery of your pup.

Thank you, Sean and Christy, for your videos. We were newbies in January 2020, did a six week trip Feb-mid-March 2020, then 2 weeks in the fall and then this year, we left at the end of May for 10+ weeks. We didn’t make it to Alaska because the Canadian border was still closed, but we DID have the “trip of a lifetime”. TRNP was one of our stops and it was great seeing the hikes we took on your video (it was MUCH HOTTER when we were there the third week of July of this year. Saw so many animals! Thanks so much for your hints, travel tips, and sense of humor. We hope to see you on the road!

This was our 1st western national park. We were amazed by the scenery. Went to the restroom one morning and had to wait 15 minutes on a male bison to move away from the trailer. He was grazing 15 to 20 feet from our 18 ft trailer. Wife was inside taking photos. We stayed in south unit but also spent a whole day visiting the north unit. North unit is worth the drive.

In and around Death Valley N.P. especially just outside the park on the Nevada side, they have a couple of herds of wild horses. Also some wild horses near where burning man is held in NV. Great video!

Went there on our honeymoon trip to Seattle in 2002 and made a return stop there a couple of years back on the way up to Glacier (also both on the way to Seattle.) You are correct, it's a nice park. Would be nice if they put in a dump in the south park. However they do have a "dump sink" in the south restroom where I drained my gray into a 5 gal bucket and carried it up there to dump it. And the generator time is 10-10 (it was in the 90's when we were last there.)

I believe the Nokota horse is a mix of Spanish horses brought from the southern USA and local native American horses (a ranch near Medora bought 60 mares that were confiscated from Sitting Bull's herd and bred with the Spanish horses). Some of them have a beautiful bluish or purplish tint to them.

I call it a "hidden gem". We probably wouldn't have gone there if our son wasn't working as a Park Ranger there 3 summers ago. But we're so glad we did. It' really not on the way to anything...except maybe Glacier depending on where you're coming from (we're from PA). Worth the trip out of your way for sure. We went back a second time, the following summer. Camped at a little place closest to the South entrance. We found the hiking better in the North section. Great review, thanks.

I have to admit I wasn't all that aware of Theodore Roosevelt NP. If I had been, I'm sure I would have added it to our itinerary when we visited Mesa Verde, Capital Reef, Salt Lake City, Crater's of the Moon, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Bozeman, MT, Cody, WY, Little Big horn NB, the Black Hills and Devil's Tower. I'm sure we could have added another NP to our list of places to see. :) Now it had been added to another trip out west.

Glad you enjoyed your stay in our great State of North Dakota. Medora is a tourist town with some great attractions. The top two things are the Pitchfork Steak Fondue, and the Medora Musical. There are other animals you may encounter on your drive through the scenic loop in TRNP. We go almost every year and see bison, wild horses, prairie dogs, deer, pronghorn, elk, fox, coyote, and many species of birds. There are plenty of walking/hiking trails; you can rent a bike or go horseback riding; stay at the Medora Campground and go for a hike by the nearby stream and hills. There are so many things to do if you are an active person; so many different attractions available to see and lots of entertainment; plenty of unique shops; homemade ice cream is awesome; and for those who are more laid back, lots of scenery. We usually stay at the Medora Campground which is larger and more peaceful.

We camped there August of 2019. The main camp was full so we went about 4 miles out of town to a state park that had horse corrals. Very quiet there and a beautiful view of the cliffs above the river. Found a spot the next day for our tent at the first park after the south main gate. Not as quiet only because a couple would leave their generator running while they were out visiting the park, all day! Highly recommend Teddy’s park! What a beautiful neck of the USA!

We love Theodore Roosevelt National Park. We live in ND. I've seen more bison (pronounced bizon) in Theodore Roosevelt then we did in Yellowstone. There's a large petrified forest near by that's worth hiking to. The North Unit has features that the South unit doesn't have. Camping in the park can be quite exciting when a heard of bison walk through your campsite. We've had that happen twice, once during rutting season, in a tent. Don't forget about the Medora Musical. Great family western show. Even our son who doesn't like country music enjoyed the show.

We love Theadore National Park. Been there twice. The campground in Medora (Medora Campground) had full hookups - that is where we stayed. The Medora musical was fun to see. As for National Parks with wild horses, Assateague National Park in Maryland has wild ponies roaming about (also in the State Park). They swim to Chincoteague Island in Virginia during the pony roundup every year. Great video!

We were there Nov 2019. Drove from Portland OR to Green Bay for a wedding. Saw the park and stopped in. Weather was cool..in the mid 50’s , no snow, sunny. Besides a single photographer chasing the wild horses and the single park ranger at the desk, we were the only ones in the park. Saw all the mentioned critters and both whitetail and mule deer bucks, antelope too. Beautiful park. I’m sure it’s busier in the summer, but I think a late Sept to mid Oct visit would be a great time. Good time to see the Blackhills as well.

I grew up in North Dakota the west is truly a amazing place. My Family is deeply rooted there and house hold name. My grandfather lived and ran the peaceful valley ranch trail rides for a number of years. If you eat at the Cowboy Cafe you will see his picture with his brothers who were highly successful Bronc riders more importantly eat there great food. Medora Musical is a must for any traveler. Dickinson has very small but nice dinosaur museum with replicas of bones that were unearthed from hell’s creek which is the dig site in the badlands. Finally you showed it nobody does storm fronts like NoDak. Thanks for showcasing my state park and great job showing it to the world.

We were there for a few days the summer of 2018. Medora was pretty much shut down because we were after the peak season but that just meant we had the park even more to ourselves. The prairie dogs were adorable, the wild horses were amazing, and we saw a bison on its back rolling in the dirt kicking up those spindly little legs with wild abandon. It struck me as the perfect park to camp at if you have a few days, a good book and some time for day hikes. It was also pretty interesting to see initials carved in the cabin from Teddy Roosevelt and crew, and it made him a bit more human to know he spent time there while grieving.

Another great video. We spent a week there last summer. We saw dozens of wild turkey in the North Section jumping several feet into to air eating berries on bushes. The North Section was pristine with almost no visitors. We stayed in the campground in the South Section. One night our neighbors, after attending the Medora dinner show, had a buffalo walk in front of their car. Buffalo was unhurt. Car was wrecked. Good thing it was towed behind their RV or their vacation would have been over.

We were there about a year ago. We made a wrong turn and ended up at the rest area you are speaking of. To our surprise, there was a heard of bison coming into the rest area. It was amazing and we got some great shots. There were probably 30 to 40 bison. Later, we went into the park and were way back in one of the off shot roads when a hear of bison came over a hill, cross the road, went into a ditch area, then proceeded up the hill. And we had it all to our selves! We did stay one night in a primitive campground west of Medora, $6.00 a night, and it was so peaceful, quiet, and dark. Loved it and would highly recommend it for a night or two. Thanks for sharing your expierence.
