I love this series, it actually encourages me to get a bike that needs working on…. I was thinking of getting a Ducati Monster 620ie for €1000, it hasn't been wrecked, I don't have any motorcycle repair experience, but I've watched a bunch of RU-vid videos and read as many articles about the Monster 620 and it seems to be a pretty easy bike to work on... And you can easily modify it into a cafe racer, which is my goal...

Yoshimura Stain Magic works wonders on rusty headers with just a scotchbrite scrubbing pad and a normal cloth.

Bro, look in to a thread repair file. You can probably save the threads on that stem. A thread repair file will have several different thread pitches on it and I've saved a lot of stems, axles, etc with that $12 tool.

11:50 min , its very common for radiators to only be popped on like that on one side and to have one or two bolts somewhere else on the sides. makes it easier to take them off without dropping them by accident. idk if thats an actual reason but i found it works really well for me most of the time

Looks like a fun project. Btw, the lower piston ring is called oil control ring. Not just oil ring 😉 it manages how much oil is left behind on the cylinder walls on the down stroke.

and 13:54 It surprises me that you found Honda cutting corners. its definitely a different economic climate these days as compared to when Honda's bikes were carbureted and air-cooled, because the exhausts used to be double and triple layered, specifically to prevent the pipes from being pinched shut if anything ever hit underneath the bike. On air-cooled models, the double or triple piping would start not far from where they connected to the head's exhaust flange, as the pipes were fully exposed in the front. check past the point where the exhaust is no longer behind the radiator. There may be thicker piping there, around that first bend, and along the length up to the O2 sensor. maybe. hopefully. wow, that's crazy if not.

One way to lift a bike is to use a aluminum ladder. Open the ladder over the bike then attach Ratchet straps to the bike and the ladder. Use the Ratchet straps to lift the front or the back of the bike. Works great. I have done it this way for years.

The oil locked cylinders are why I cringe when watching riders just allow their bikes to lie on their side after a crash.

A dial bore gauge, holder for gauge, and a couple v stands will give you a way to measure for deviation. And there is a spec in the book that you can use to tell if it's with tolerance or not.

Bro i had the exact same damage on my 08 600 RR. I had to do the bearings of the steering and the stamp of the triple clamp was bend. All with a new used fork its getting a bike again!

The front wheel needs to be x-rayed if you want to be sure that it has no cracks, there's a risk of it flying apart otherwise.

I believe you need a 24mm peg for the headstand, if it's the same as the 2014 model I had. The 24mm was a little bit too tight to go in smoothly, so I fettled it a bit with an angle grinder, and it was perfect.

The straighter then gxxr riders convinced the sub.

You may want to inspect the chain and sprockets for damage. An impacts energy can travel through the drivetrain.

Those look like Oetiker clamps which are not single use. Get a Oetiker clamp pliers and you'd be good to go in the future.

I wouldn't recommend measuring straightness that way, your surface you measure on might not be level and I would recommend using a precission meter to check if it is actually straight

I am just wondering WHY don't you use your motorcycle working table. It's exactly what it's supposed to be used for. If you're not finding it convenient enough, no shame, buy a decent one. Then if you want to make this kind of jobs, you'll need proper tools and proper method. Tools includes boxes and shelves, method starts by all dismantling before starting to purchase anything... A few tricks : straightening fork legs makes no sense. Get them extended as much as you can, cut the bended part with angle grinder. To assess the straintess of a part, make it roll on a decent flat surface...any bent becomes obvious. Have fun rebuilding this bike...we have fun watching you !

It appeared that the fuel used to clean the exhaust issue was simply poured onto the ground. I'm pretty sure that is not environmentally acceptable.

The nut you needed to undo in the forks was right there infront of you (looked like the tool you had was the wrong one tbh), BPF are really easy to work on, once the internal nut is off you slide the whole cartridge out as one, no need to take the top cap off of it.
