One one of our previous adventures we managed to break the UHF Antenna on the Triton, so in this video we swap out the old, broken antenna and carry out a brand new GME UHF Antenna Install.
Not only does this video show you how easy it is to swap out an old UHF antenna with a new antenna, you will also find out why we chose to go down the path of this GME Antenna.
0.00 - Intro.
0.12 - Why we need a new UHF Antenna.
0.50 - What Antenna are we fitting and why?
1.58 - Removing the old Antenna Base.
2.54 - Fitting the new antenna and cable.

I've been procrastinating soo long on replacing my broken aerial, your video (particularly the feeding of cables into the cab) has helped and given me confidence to have a crack on my RnR, cheers and ✨appreciate ya for this 🍻

Was your box oricom? So Gme arial works with other brands as long as the antenna plug fits to the box?

I hope you picked up those cable ties you chucked on the ground!

I certainly did. I finished the job and then picked up and disposed of all the rubbish, cable ties included all at one time, saves time doing it all at once rather than tripping back and forth constantly.

This video demonstrates the following : a) People just copy and paste b) Mass marketing works on zombies quite well c) Not many folk can research and think for themselves. Here we have a guy replacing a broken aerial with a fibreglass aerial. It's just going to shatter. It's a bad location for an antenna. It's also next to an RF noisy LED light bar. No one has taken the time to tell this fellow that there is a better way altogether.

Ade Larson, firstly thanks for taking the time to not only watch our video but to also comment. There is no copy and paste here, no zombies being marketed to and without video such as this one how are people supposed to do their own research? As for the location of the aerial, where do you suggest is a better placement? The old aerial broke due to old age, it had been on this vehicle for over 2 1/2 years and it was an old second hand aerial at that, value for money in my eyes. As for the LED lightbar, there is zero radio interference, the light bar is a quality light bar, buy quality and you won’t have a problem with interference, buy cheap rip off imitations and you are sure to run into trouble.

@@EveryRoadAdventures If you have a roof gutter or roof rack then I suggest a wire whip on a spring mounted to a fold down base. It'll never break. A fibreglass whip will smash and break. Check this out and order it from your local CB radio shop : zcg.com.au/product/ground-independent-uhf-stainless-steel-whip-420-520mhz-specify-15mhz-2-1dbi-1-1m/ You can drive in car park's, drive-through's, under scrub and trees and it won't break. It will flex 90 degrees. It'll out perform anything else if you mount it clear of any obstructions. It's better built and it's 100% aussie made.

Thanks for your input Ade, I understand what you are talking about however that setup is not always practical. I do a lot of kilometers both day and night and I am happy with my choice.
