In this video I demonstrate the steps to take in order to re-attach a outboard cowling (cover) seal. For mercury and others they are glued on, and the glue fails after 10+ years.
In case someone cares, from 3m vhb "The amount of pressure required to achieve what is typically known as wet-out or acceptable contact. Typically, this is achieved by the application of greater than 15 psi at the tape bond line." I use a lot and have heard people curse the stuff because they don't understand that it needs 15psi pressure to activate bond. That will last several decade if kept dry and gasket is clean and siliconed with regular maintenance. Great video's. You are very methodical and precious.
Why is ther a space between the ends of the rubber gasket after you finished reinstalling? love the idea of the double stick tape, not sue it's gonna hold up as well as glue though.
