Nice! Decals looked a bit tricky. Did you put anything over the decals to protect the whole thing? I'm thinking of applying the decals on the black paint, then spraying acrylic lacquer over the lot after its all dried, like a day later.

I just bought some paint for mine, I also have the same 90 cowling. I did not buy primer and I noticed you use a spray can for the primer coat, does the lacquer car paint bond well with that or should I order some car primer? Obviously yours turned out well so this might be a stupid question..

Yes the automotive paint will work with a spray can primer, I used the rustoleum 2in1 fillable and sandable primer. Worked great its pretty close to a primer from a spray gun.

Sick nice job! What kind of paint gun did you use? How many coats of paint and clear and how long did you wait between coats?

I used a devilbiss gti paint gun,I did 2-3 coats of paint,& 3 coats of clear. I waited 20-30 min between coats.

I used 3M Buffer Pad & Buffing Compound, Really good stuff for Buffing out clear coat.

There are 2 plastic covers you have to remove - another pair of bolts you have to get out underneath.

Yes with 1500/2000 grit to buff

@@HookinFever so I am using colorrite spray cans. You think the clearcoat they sell can be wet sanded? It's pretty weak stuff

@@keonos1 I wouldnt recommend sanding spray can clear, You might burn thru quick, You can try the 2k clearcoat in a can,thats similar to automotive clear

@@bradportier5096 Yup I saw those aswell, Never ordered because i thought they were really expensive for decals, lol Im pretty sure if you go to a local screen printing shop, they could probably get them done for you, for a fraction.

FALSE HEADLINE!!! Even though you did an outstanding transformation, you mislead people into thinking this can be done in 12 mins which is impossible. I’m not going to waste my time breaking the process, but everyone who owns a boat and do this type of work knows this can’t be done in 12 mins. If that’s the case, why did speed up the video? The old decals was too easy to peel off, it takes more than 12 mins, to sand, let alone priming, the wait time to let it dry, before spray painting the black paint and letting it dry, then polishing it, and putting on new decals. I get it, your headline will prompt people to click on your video.

Way to paint all the neighbors stuff at the same time. It was windy ya damn dummy
