POLL: Should I DELETE this video? Yes ✅ or no ⛔ I missed something in Amazon's policies: they have added an exception and will print low content books without an ISBN (but won't do expanded distribution printing for them). To clarify, I would personally still avoid spending time creating books to publish without an ISBN, because Amazon also only lets you use the preview feature & look-inside feature for books with an ISBN. This has been shown to have a big impact on conversions, and conversions are a big factor in ranking & getting sales, putting you at a disadvantage against the other low content books that do have these features/do have an ISBN. I'd much rather focus on medium content books as I said, which come with the ISBN. That way I am not at a disadvantage. However, I DID make a mistake and so I am genuinely wondering: should I delete the video? Yes ✅ or no ⛔
NO , definitely not don't delete the video And really thanks for this video and giving actual insights on these side hustles which other creators don't
There is a solution even better, create a brand or at least, show Amazon that you made the enquiry, this brand need to have a logo and a name and use it on your front or back cover and you will have the right to use Content plus for your low content book without ISBN and content plus have more impact than preview. 😎
@@christophecoat1914 Haha are you suggesting joining the Amazon Brand Registry? If so that is a very creative idea, I didn't know that registering your brand unlocks those features, but I think to join it, you do need a pending trademark (or a fully filed trademark)
If a side hustle is super easy to get into, and requires little in the way of creative input, money, or physical effort, it will very soon become oversaturated. If you have money, or creativity, or are simply willing to work hard, you should be able to find a side hustle that works for you.
I've learned over the years that you *must* add value to make money. If it's something that anyone can do easily, then everyone will do it and it won't be profitable. At best, it's going to be a lottery, with a handful of people doing well while thousands waste their time. You must add value, do something that not anyone can do, some special skill or knowledge that you have, or something.
"No one plans to fail, but many fail to plan" 🙏 - Amazing advice left by a viewer in the comments, sharing why they have succeeded in their online business, whereas others have failed 🙏
@@WholesaleTed exactly my point. it takes about 2k minimum to launch 1 product. ( I SPENT 5k back in 2018 and my first launch failed ) it’ll take 3 to 5 try’s to have a successful product. Which means risking $10k+ and that process takes about 2+ years so…..
Can you please more what you mean when you say it takes $2,000 to launch one product - what sort of product? An ebook? A FBA product? A dropshipped product? A POD product? If you mean POD, I honestly sincerely disagree. I have a video showcasing a case study where I started a POD store for free, and grew it from $0 to $4k+/week in less than 6 months. And again, it was free, and took less than 6 months: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M9ZOiqxuMsg.html What enabled me to have fast, free success was my products filled a gap in the market. A lot of people try to brute-force their way to success/sales but in my experience, creating products customers want/need is the key to fast, easy success.
Sarah another awesome video. I wouldn't want to see videos about rain because we get enough rain in Scotland without having to watch videos about them. Thanks 👍 for sharing these outdated businesses/side hustles so we can avoid them. Love 🥰 the video and love ❤ Sarah.
Great info here. What separates the innovators from the 'copycats' is the time and effort put into the content they release. Times are changing, and people need to learn to think outside the box and adapt to the new changes. In reality, people need to stop copying or 'ripping off' stock videos for monetization and create their own or use AI. A lot of hate towards AI, but no one truly knows how much work it takes to create high-quality content involving AI (I'm not talking about the lazy people who use AI, don't review it, and just post as is.. which is NOT the way to go). I'm getting more into AI filmmaking, which does take me hours to write out a script, think of ideas on what scenes I want, AND THEN it takes more time to generate the content I need, AND THEN a bunch of other work involved like upscaling, video editing, and revision. Thank you, Sarah. I always learn a thing or two by watching your videos and expanding on the ideas you touch on.
Spot on about the AI aspect. Funny enough we used it at my job to make some designs for custom socks with the idea of putting those out and seeing what people like the best. If people are buying say more designs with the landscape pixel art then we know now to find an artist who can collaborate with us. I do think early on as in right now we might get a ton of lazy AI work until we all realize how difficult it will actually be to create something with it. It does some work well now without effort like Photoshop's generative AI tool when you want to say extend a picture since you increased the aspect ratio or just want to remove something from the image. It's more a time saver.
AI deserves the hate it gets. It's built on an entire business model that depends on undermining the entire point of intellectual property, and betrays the people who made it all possible.
This is a good reason to monitor what kids are watching on RU-vid. Also, some creators try to get away with not classifying their videos as "kids" when they clearly are for kids.
The RPM thing unfortunately really incentivizes people to push the boundaries of what is kids and what isn't kids content. I've seen lots of content do this. And I should clarify, in saying they are incentivized, that is in no way justified, haha! It's not justified at all!
Well…I tried selling selling expensive AIM-(MLM) powdered beetroot, wheatgrass and carrot juice to people in the most unhealthy province in Canada in 2004 😂😂
Sarah, you are a legend. I was about to waste a lot of time doing kid videos, albeit I was going to do it easy way, but it wasn't for my health! You are just like a treasure trove of information. Thanks so much for sharing, and thank God I took the time to watch this video, which being so time poor I was a little reluctant.
You can still make journal books but you have to put more effort into them. I have a book published on KDP which wasn't long enough as just the text content, so there's a lined page for every page with text. Doubled the pages by giving readers some space to write their own thoughts.
Great video sharing side hustles you should stay away from. I've tried etsy and t-shirt designs. At the end of the day investing in the stock market has been the best for me. You're not going to get super wealthy overnight. But over time it adds up and well within a few years you can easily be making a few thousand or more depending on how much money you continue to invest. I went from $0 per month in dividends to almost $100 a month in 15 months time, plus I still have all the money I invested. If I need it for an emergency I can liquidate it and withdraw pretty quickly.
Thank you for this, I started on red bubble following your advice with my niche, which did quite well, until the changes to red bubbles policies, you are correct. It’s not worth bothering with unless you’re in the top tier, which by the way, they won’t tell you how to get into or who is.
Really, a much needed video from someone who is in this industry thanks for giving us such insights on these Outdated Side hustles and saving our precious time. I will always be grateful to you ❤ You earned a subscriber ❤
I appreciate the detailed breakdown of these outdated side hustles. Staying updated with platform policies is crucial to avoid wasting time and effort.
Great insights! It's so important to stay updated on what side hustles and online business ideas are still viable. I've seen too many people get stuck in outdated methods and waste valuable time and resources. Thanks for sharing this valuable info!
Do Rain videos need voice-over too...!!! I heard some youtubers say that either you show your face or do voice over, or else wont get paid. Will you please enlighten me on that! Thank you Sarah. Thanks for all the information.
I have had a red bubble account for over a year. A few sales but not much. Started with Etsy. Again just a few sales and nothing much. RU-vid seems to rate my RU-vid as eligible for monetisation with Adsense but I have no idea what that entails. I definitely don’t have much time available for side hustles which makes it harder.
If you don't have much time, then pick one and stick with it, is my best advice! It takes time to succeed. If you want to give it another shot with POD, the key is finding gaps in the market. I have a video about that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M9ZOiqxuMsg.html As I share in that video, it took months for the store to gain momentum. If I had tried for just 1 month, I would have been disappointed, but I knew momentum takes time, and that time investment paid off.
thanks for sharing this great information, i both watch and upload some business related videos, so I appreciate content creators like yourself posting these kinds of videos
MY NICH IS GONNA BE SOMETHING DIFFERENT,I'M NOT INTERESTED IN THIS VIDEOS,THE ONLY REASON THAT I SEE YOUR VIDEOS IS BECAUSE OF YOU,I LOVE TO SEE YOU!!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️👁️👁️👁️
I did KDP in 2021 and it's not a side hustle, it's a center stage main character hustle. It look so long to get a hang of it and it never took off. It was more beer money than anything.
Sarah, I'm curious on your take on something... When we say that 65% of businesses fail, how much of that do you think was because: A - It was just a bad business model / product / service B - It was a good business model, but was just mismanaged / not implemented properly C - The person just gave up too soon ?
That is a pretty broad statistic, it is a USA statistic and it also includes offline businesses with big overheads! So my intro was definitely a little simplified upon reflection!
For Canada, about 50% of new businesses close after 1 year, and about 90% after 5 years. However this stat includes all reasons, such as failing business, bankruptcy, retirement or moving on to something else.
What does not having an ISBN have to do with selling low content books? People don't care if there is an ISBN or not it has not stopped people from buying blank books at all. I have lots and they all still show up in search. Not sure what not having an ISBN has to do with making money selling low content books on Amazon.
@@WholesaleTed Oh you are talking about on the external sellers? Does not impact Amazon sales and most low content are not eligible for external sales anway. Still don't understand how it impacts Amazon sales. I have lots of them without ISBN it's nothing new been around a long time.
Amazon gives you the ISBN then Amazon owns the book. Get your own ISBN . Plus you can unpublish a title but you can never remove it from their platform. Just found this out when trying to remove books we had on Amazon. BEWARE!
I have thought about doing a few videos on how to break into cars without damaging. I should add it was part of my job and signed an agreement not to share the information.
I have a question. Please answer me. I’m an architect and ı want to sell posters on etsy. I'm looking for a niche for a bestselling poster that would have some relevant with architecture. What could it be?
There are so many avenues for people who want to get started selling t-shirts, stickers, mugs online. Where do you suggest for someone like me (just getting started) who wants to create sell products mainly on autopilot with self-created (original) designs? Thank you in advance.
Great question! I guess my question to you is, what is your definition of autopilot? Are you OK with doing customer service, or do you want that taken care of for you? You give up a lot of profits & control if you aren't willing to do any customer service, but in-exchange money you make is absolutely on autopilot. But if you're willing to do some customer service, it can be done very quickly. I find a $2k/week store takes around 0-30 minutes per day to manage (more like 0-15 minutes per day, but during holidays you get more emails).
In the past side hustle mean work, these are how could you do least possible work and earn unfair money, and I feel left out because I could make these.
I love all of your videos, but for some reason I can't get any sales. Starting to feel defeated. I'm mainly on Shopify and trying to get my Etsy store together...had some bumps in the road. It's a lot to not be making anything.
Hi Sarah, I love your videos. Can you please do a video on faceless channel how to do it or is it not worth it? Or if you have a course on it. Thank you
What is a 'realistic' amount to get for ambient music? For example if you create a video of seals swimming and in the background have ocean music AND a song from the singer Seal is that a) creative enough to still be monetized and b) if monetized make about 2k a month. 2K a day is unlikely.
I disagree tbh, I think both of these remain excellent fulfillment strategies that with the right planning can be great choices for launching & selling a product. But the goldrush of being able to sell basically anything (particularly with FBA) is over. It used to be that simple products had an under supply on Amazon relative to demand, so there was a big goldrush 5-10 years to fill that gap - and now it has been filled.
@@WholesaleTed When Amazon sees that a product is successful, they will make their own version and undercut the seller, leaving them to start over with new research into new products. This is how the Amazon Basics gets info.
It's a good thing we can no longer make money from children's stories. It should have been forbidden from the outset to use "children" to make money. When you know how much looking at a screen for too long can harm them... But anyway, great video, thanks!
If you don't have an ISBN then it can't be sold as a print book - but it can be sold as a digital book. ISBNs used to be included, but no longer aren't. Your book may not have an ISBN, or it may have been released when ISBNs were still given out, and have one included.
@@WholesaleTed Wow I didn't know they were no included for free.. I published a paperback and hardback in February and they will still free then. $S125 is a lot for an ISBN.
Hey, I created 2 quizzes and uploaded them to tiktok yesterday, set the privacy to everyone but over night got zero views on both. Am I doing something wrong? Have you got a video of properly setting up tiktok? I think I've done it wrong
For Amazon ISBN for low content books I'm not sure it's from their own will but more an homogenization of an international rule. See I'm French and when I've learned if you use the free ISBN from Amazon you cannot sell elsewhere but some government give it for free, I had a look in France and they stated that ISBN is only for real book like novels, technical books, learning books but low content such as sudoku, planners, notebooks, color books… cannot, which make sense, why a library would like to orders a low content book for their readers?!!!
Yes! Sorry, I made a clarification in the comments. Low Content books have a clause on Amazon that do allow them to be individually printed, but not widely printed. However, it's still IMHO an outdated side hustle because without an ISBN, you are not eligible for two important features: >>> You can't do a preview and a look-inside of your book. These are features Amazon only offers to books with an ISBN. They have been shown to greatly improve conversions, which is an important ranking factor in ranking highly for keywords. I would still therefore never personally choose to publish low content books, because you'd be at a disadvantage compared to other low content books that got to have an ISBN, unless you're willing to pay for it individually yourself 🙏
I'm glad the AI kids videos money-making strategy is dying. I know there are a lot of real people writing safe stories, but I'm always wary of animated videos and kids videos because of the creepy grooming audio that's out there. On a separate note, I sure hope the majority of people making videos for children are actually considering how their stories affect kids and don't just take for granted whatever the AI generates. Kids learn values from stories and they shape who they become as adults. All that said, this video was super helpful or me! It's great to know about side hustles that are becoming less profitable and won't be worth my time!
Hey Man , really nice video ! I was wondering if I could help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and also make a highly engaging Thumbnail and also help you with the overall youtube strategy and growth ! Pls let me know what do you think ?
You can use printify to connect to ebay and she does cover that; setting up ebay store is what you're asking for? That could be good content for Sarah, but I'm still working my way through her videos so there may already be on out there 🤷🏽♂️
Ahhhh yes, I see your channel. If I were you, and being monetized with adsense was my goal, I would only continue if I was recording my own sound effects, and having my own non-static visuals!
AI videos suck, period. Nothing says "I didn't check, I don't care about you" than a video that was obviously generated, not written. And God forbid, a video entirely composed of B-roll that looks close enough to the "creator," but is actually off enough to grate the nerves. Then there are mispronounced surname or noun pronunciation when the world is getting used as a verb. I don't want my kids watching crap that actually degrades their language.
Yes, RedBubble lets you do exactly that. Other Print On Demand marketplaces that pay out royalties in a similar way are Zazzle, CafePress & Amazon Merch.
As I said, anything that isn't aimed at kids has a much higher RPM if that is your goal. You have millions of interests/cultures/hobbies/passions that adults are interested in. Excluding kids content from your niche list doesn't really exclude many niches at all!
If you can get an ISBN in Canada then that is great! I didn't see anything on Amazon about that, but if it is an exception for Canadians then I recommend getting your ISBN if you want to publish a blank book 🌞
I did a little research, and it looks like in Canada that the government might issue ISBNs for free which might be why Amazon allows all books from Canadian authors to have an ISBN 🌞
@@WholesaleTed Thank you Sarah that really helps but is this for blank books only or could it also be for fiction and nonfiction books. Do we need a ISBN for fiction and nonfiction books.
@@WholesaleTed Oh actually I redesigned the thumbnail of this video for you so thought of tagging you there, you already changed the thumbnail so you know the importance of it !! Btw great video the last side hustle is what my bro was talking about the other day haha!!!
Most those thumbnails are from people making money off of telling people how to maje money... Like she said none of these work anymoree, but they're still making videos and getting millions of views on them
I do wonder how Ms. Rachel makes money from her YT channel. It seems like its more partnerships and merch (which seems she shouldn't have given childrens channel policies....)
Ms Rachel will be a millionaire many, many times over, lol! Her videos get unfathomable amounts of views. She has had 264 million views in the past 28 days. With a RPM of 40 cents, that is over $100,000 just in adsense income. And that is a decline in views for her. She often has 400+ million views. The key to make a lot of money with kids videos is scale. The question is, can your videos compete at the scale/results required view wise to make even a half decent income. That usually requires your videos be so insanely good, they go super wide (Ms Rachel) or you have a very fast, easy way to quickly pump out videos (such as toy channels). Unfortunately, kids ai story videos fit into neither. Compared to other kids story videos, the animations/visuals are nowhere near as good, so they can't compete on quality. And they are still pretty slow to make, so they can't be pumped out fast in quantity to make up for it.
You still can! It's totally up to you, but I'd recommend doing the math before you do. How many views do you expect to get per video? How long will it take you to make them? If you have a way to make kids videos quickly, you can offset the low RPM by putting out lots of videos quickly. But if making a video takes you any longer than 1-2 hours, then the maths may not add up for what you're hoping to earn! 🙏
I'm not quite sure the question sorry, but I've had others ask if they are demonetized. And the answer is I've seen no policy changes that have demonetized quiz videos and so any rumors that you can't monetize them as far as I'm aware are false. A lot of misinformation runs rampant online about what content is & isn't eligible for monetization.
@@WholesaleTed Thanks for the answer. I was mostly curious if the trend is still alive for new accounts, and whether people still watch, like, and follow them. Just to add to the conversation and share some information, I believe the Quizmaster account that started the quiz trend is a well-known and respected quiz maker in the community, having been around for more than 10 years. I can't verify if it's the same "Quizmaster," but it would make sense if it were.
I still get quizzes promoted to me in my feed, and they get hundreds of thousands to millions of views! You know, I was one of the very first group of RU-vidrs to make videos on ecommerce. When I first started making videos sharing my ecommerce tips, basically no content for it existed on RU-vid. Now look at how many RU-vidrs make content in the niche. Just because 1 person starts it, doesn't mean that only they can have success in it, or it is tied to them. They might have been the first to be inspired to make it, but they are just the spark. If I was thinking of entering a content niche, I wouldn't get too hung up on it tbh!
Lol no, that's definitely not my goal because if so, I destroy myself in this video at 9:14 lol! Instead, this video is just about, well, how things change. Times change, policies change, and all of these ideas used to work great in a different time, but now due to changing circumstances either no longer do, or need a new strategy to be effective/not get banned and it's good to know when things have changed 🌞
