You know what I like best about this video... The importance of FAMILY.... You are so blessed to have your children always ready to pitch in... Kinwoven indeed!!!
You need to install a POOL COVER for the Fall and Winter seasons. It will save you a lot of work and time! I like that you kept and enjoy THE TREES! Beautiful home... Congrats!
Actually, Daniel, we put the trash in it for garbage pickup. As you can imagine, the trashmen were not thrilled with this arrangement, so we used to give them a nice tip! We never figured out what the little window was for, either, but it was intriguing. The backyard looks spectacular with the new uplighting of the trees. "Beth" (now "Elizabeth," please) is a junior in college, this year studying in Paris. Her twin Katherine is studying vocal music in New York with an eye to opera. I watch whenever Rebecca puts up a new video for obvious spying reasons, and I am always pleased at how respectful she is of our former house and its former owners.
First off love love love the house and yard. That said I would have liked it if you spent more time talking about how to decorate using existing things. More ideas etc. and let me just say I love when someone from California moves somewhere else and they realize and experience all the joys of seasons and lush green trees! I lived in Southern California for 15 years and now am home in Wisconsin and when my friends come to visit they love how beautiful it is. Yes, that’s right there is life outside of California.
Thank you Sharon for taking the time to leave a comment. YESSSS there is life out of California… or the other popular states outlining the coast of our country. I appreciate your suggestion for more tips of how to use what you have. I thought we did that but it’s good to know it didn’t translate to you in the video. We are always looking for ways to better communicate our message. So… thank you. I will pass along your comment to my team in an effort to be more intentional going forward 🙏🏻
What a stunning home for a stunning woman!!! U are truly and amazing designer... The back and front of your home, looks like a work of art, just beautiful.👌
The “dog house” was more than likely an ice delivery box! Coal was also delivered to homes like that, however that delivery door would have led to the basement.
The DOG HOUSE is BETTER than SOME ONE ROOM RENTAL FOR HUMAN DANG ; SOME DOG'S LIVE AND HAS IT BETTER THAN SOME OF US HUMAN... WHAT A BLESSING WHEN DOG'S ARE TREATED FAR BETTER THAN SOME HUMAN LIFE...
The garden looks like an amazing space to relax and enjoy with friends and family. One of my favorites has to be the tree swing...that looks like a lot of fun for all ages! ❤
Rebecca, your house is beautiful, inside and out! cant wait to see all the transformations that are going to happen, as you make this house, your home...
Rebecca my inspiration ❤ You inspired me to make my home a better place for me and my family. My husband love so much my love and effort that I put in my home and he knows that I got my inspiration from you! LOVE LOVE you and everything you do!
Oh, WELCOME to the Midwest ! We absolutely love living here. People are friendly and the changing season keep you active. You have great kids for helping you and keeping your life active. Please keep showing your home renovations. So inspiring .
I love watching your videos. My husband and I just purchased our 1st home 4 months ago. We don’t have the budget to do a remodel so we have been doing a lot of mostly cosmetic stuff all over the house and watching your videos always inspires me to keep doing my thing. Thank you for being so open and inspiring to those of us who strive to creating beautiful living spaces on a budget. Lots of love to you
Love the tour Rebecca, I can't believe how quickly you are sorting the house out, it's so beautiful already. I recommend you watch Garden Answer ........ Laura will have you designing your flowerbeds and containers as expertly as you do your interiors. Looking forward to seeing your first Christmas in Tulsa xx
You crack me up with thinking that a house that's nearly a hundred years old is old, where I live it would be classed as a new build, I live about 8 miles outside of Bath in the UK and we have buildings from the 1100s, 1500s loads In the 1700s and 1800s up to modern day. And the building in the front garden is possibly for coal delivery and storage, in Bath the houses have similar facilities where coal is dropped through a door in the street and it goes into the cellar of the house.
I know what you mean. I live in shrewsbury and my house was built in the late 1700's but that's still not the oldest house I've lived in. That goes to a little chocolate box cottage i used to live on that was build in the early 1600's, very pretty but absolutely freezing in the winter. Rebecca should come to England, she'd love it.
I’m from Canada which is a vast country and people drives hundreds of miles for mundane things. When I went to Scotland and we commented on how old the buildings were a Scotsman said to me. “In Canada 100 years is old, and in Scotland a 100 miles is very, very far”. North America is certainly young in comparison to Great Britain but man, can we outdo you in the vastness of our land. 👍😉🇨🇦
Isn't it wonderful to have such a talented and kind son who helps his Mom every trip? Love that! Beautiful backyard! Most fascinated by the lighting. Great idea to put solar lights in the planters. You've solved a lighting problem for me very inexpensive and stylishly! Thank you so much!!
Rebecca…I just realized I’ve been watching your videos for probably 6 or 7 years because I can remember those solar lights that one of your subscribers had sent to you and you show cased them on one of your videos. I loved them so much. Now have them at my home in Newfoundland, our winter home in Florida, and our cottage in Newfoundland which is on a river. Everyone that sees them, loves them. I tell them I saw them first in one of your videos. Love watching you! You are such an inspiration. Wishing you much love and happiness in your new home. Cheers
That’s one stunning piece of land you own Rebecca!! Good things happen (eventually) to good ppl! You deserve this and more! I can only dare to imagine what the final look of this property will look once you’re done! It’s beautiful now, and with your magic touches even more, can’t wait to see how heavenly breathtaking you’ll make it. Enjoy it gorgeous lady!! 😘
Hi Rebecca! I love your Tulsa home and I’m so glad you are loving it! ❤️ I think the little pass through area in your front wall with the tiny doors was meant for coal to be delivered back in the day! The Butler would go get buckets full to bring into the house to keep the fire places burning - maybe there were coal burning fireplaces?! I don’t know, sounds good to me! Hopefully Tulsa has a historical society which might have some history on the architect of your home and even the family who originally resided there!
Absolutely beautiful! I really have no words to describe your yards! Your doors, look like fairy doors. Don't just put a "RELAX" sign, but put an "OASIS" sign, as well. Also, good job, Scott!
Such beautiful grounds. You’ve gone and got yourself an estate, I love it! Who says you can’t begin to live your best life ever in the ladder half. ❤️❤️❤️
Omg I've been in denial that Rebeca moved away from California, but I'm so glad Oklahoma is treating her so gloriously! I don't think I've seen the full house yet, only snippets from the gram, and this is my first time seeing it fully...AMAZING!! This house suits her so perrfectly! And the trees and the vibes...ugh breathtaking
I guess you really have a good sleep at night and are so inspired to start the day seeing the beauty of nature that surrounds the house. The previous owner would be happy to see their house now.
Gorgeous yard with so much character like the house. Kudos to Scott for the lighting - pool and garden areas. Glad you are enjoying that pool too although your introduction to it was a bit of a shocker.
Thank you for the garden/outdoor tour. What a wonderful, private back garden you have. Even the front garden is barely overlooked. Those mature trees give such character to the garden and the up-lighting makes that even more clear ;). Although ivy has its charm when you see it growing up a tree, it's a silent tree killer. There are climbers that are not that harmful for trees and walls, but regular ivy suffocates the tree. It also keeps the tree wet. Sand and leaves stick to it and will cause the bark to soften and rot. It might be worth looking into that, as it would be such a shame to lose these great old trees. Wishing you many happy memorable days in your house and garden.
What a dream! Your home is just , unbelievable. I am so happy for you. That back yard is just beautiful. A little work to keep up. But you will have to hire it done. Family in pool. Fun! Good for you and I am here watching. thanks Joyce
OMG your home is EVERYTHING! So much character. I absolutely love all the quaint doors. Scott did an amazing job with light placement 👏. There are always great stories behind these older homes. I hope you able to learn more of the history behind the construction of it, especially the little doors. There's bound to be an awesome story behind them. You've outdone yourself again Rebecca. I'm so happy you found the perfect home to make new memories 💕
The introduction song was appropriately chosen for you! You keep being you, a strong, beautiful and incredible creative woman. I have followed you for a while now and I think you are the absolute best at decorating, especially Christmas decorating. You bring so much inspiration to people not only for your amazing skills but for being a strong independent woman.
At first, I am falling in love with Japanese garden / backyard and now I saw Rebecca have an incredible backyard with genius lighting from Scott. This is a dream house👌
OLD AND OLDER HOUSES ARE JUST MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN MODERN HOUSES, THEY HAVE MORE CHARACTER AND LITTLE VENUES, PROBABLY A LITTLE HOUSE FOR PACKAGES AND DELIVERY. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL HOUSE!!!!!!!
I am so so happy for you. Your home is every bit of amazing as I knew it would be. I am salivating waiting on what you will do for the holidays. I know it will be MAGICAL.
I would think the little "dog House" would be for coal, but coal was usually let down through a door on the side of the house, so it slid right into the basement. That would be a perfect parcel hold for your packages. The little door on the house, would have more than likely been a milk hold, but if it is too high, could it have had steps up to it at one time? I remember getting milk from the milkman when I was a little girl and in the winter the "pogs" (a thick piece of cardboard with the company's name printed on it on top the milk bottle) would pop up off the top of the milk when it froze and expanded. I remember having frozen milk every day. mom would bring it in and let it thaw a little.
I should have watched this video before the one remodeling the upper floor of the pool house, now I know where the refrigerator, coffee pot, etc., are located. I love the grounds of your new home, there is something enchanting about them!
Beautiful house Rebecca - it's full of character with an elegant flow to it. May you have many happy years living there. It looks very beautiful now but once you have refurbished it fully, I do not doubt for a second that it won't look absolutely amazing with your magical designer touch added to it. Thank you for sharing your videos and interior design knowledge with us.
@kay stinebrink lol we moved from SD to Boise ID 11 yrs ago and got used to the snow pretty early on. My husband loves it and I love watching it from inside😂 But we are both happy to be out of CA.
I do so love your gracious home, and the happy life you are living. Making life a party is an awesome talent. I sort of forgot this for a while. Thank you for reminding me!
I am so happy for you Rebecca, your place is beautiful. You have come a long way since I first started watching and I love every minute of it. Nice to see Scott, always enjoyed his sense of humor.
Rebecca, even though the ivy looks so pretty growing up the trees. In time it will end up killing the tree. Talk to someone in a nursery about that .. great video, can't wait for the next one!
@@simonestephenson391 I only wanted her to be aware of what could happen. My husband was in the tree service for 30+ years and he saw this happen often.
So very happy for this chapter of your life Rebecca!! Loving your home projects and can’t wait for more. You should take some wood filler, fill in that BETH,, sand it down, replace with something more personal for you or a large R, paint or nothing.
I would add a plaque, or some wood designs, like you buy for woodwork and cabinets, to put over Beth, if I didn't get a dog and name it Beth. You could also have designs carved into the wood to change it. I don't add family names or intials to things for this reason. When passed along to others it causes decisions like this.
I put a large roman shaped pool in my backyard years ago. I planted all evergreens in my backyard to: 1) Avoid leaves in the pool; 2) Have green trees all year round; 3) Give the birds a place to make their nests in spring as well as have better winter protection. In the front yard I planted a long row of holly bushes. The holly provide red berries for the birds in the winter and they too remain green year round. Between the 6ft fence and evergreens, that are now 25 ft tall, I now have a green privacy wall that surrounds the backyard. Even though I'm just a few blocks outside the city limits the backyard feels like you are in a remote countryside. I don't have the babbling brook, but I do have 3 fountains around the pool (2 smaller fountains flank each side of the steps entering the pool and the large matching fountain is on the side of the pool -all fountains run directly from the pool pump so no extra wiring or water lines were needed. Next I'm adding a backyard fireplace.
What a delightful garden space you have! I really miss the 27 mature trees we had in our garden, of our home of 45 years......my husband passed away early in 2017, and a year later I decided to sell this over size property, as it was only me and my small dog rattling around in it. I live in a 23 square meter studio apartment in a lovely garden setting of a retirement village (though retired I am NOT), and this is both living and studio space! I am still struggling with space planning etc, but I believe one needs to be in a space for a while to find out what really will work for you. But I do miss my three-room studio space I used to have in our home, and of course, I miss those gorgeous trees!
That little space next to driveway gate is a perfect spot for packages to be delivered. Amazon can just tuck your packages in there since you have brick walls and gates all around.
Great backyard with lots of potential to make it look even better, I also think the little deposit is for coal delivery and storage. The lighting in your patio truly creates a magical ambiance, I love it!
My guess on the dog house type structure at the front would be for packages to be delivered perhaps. Love all the lighting and how it makes the garden come alive.
I wouldn’t never leave that backyard. I’m listening to your enthusiasm about your leaves and pine cones but I’ve lived in Michigan in the trees and leaves my whole life with endless raking in fall. To us it’s annoying, I think I need to count my blessings it is beautiful, not sure I can like winter though
I think your backyard and front yard are beautiful. Its a lovely place to relax and enjoy. Your home is beautiful. Best wishes and God bless. Can't wait to see what you do next. I truly enjoy watching you and learning from you.
Enjoyed being shown your back garden. Wow, amazing. Stunning trees, beautiful. The pool looks great. Loved how you zoned out the different areas. Very interesting garden.
Absolutely beautiful!!!!! I would love to know what material of furniture would you recommend for your backyard when you experience all weather (I live in the midwest). I love my backyard, but I'm looking for outdoor furniture that can take a beating. That's the one thing I still need to make my oasis at home.
