These "tarps" should be on the inside, not the outside. And I know you think you're saving a lot of money, but you could purchase something more efficient and way better looking...going to look like hell! You need a complete overhaul of that porch area ...looks junky.
Hanging it on the outside means not seen when rolled up, and whether a porch is “junky” or simply well used and functional for the family is in the eye of the beholder. I will be hanging mine on the outside, and curtains on the inside.
