I especially like that you talked about "sizing" at the beginning. You answered all my unasked questions about the hood & its adjustments. I do wish you'd used actual temperatures instead of the generic word "cold" QUESTION: Are the zippers YKK COIL zippers or do the zippers have the conventional TEETH? Thanks for the review. I just got mine. However, it’s worth noting in capturing value and warmth that OV advertises 155g of DownLT but won’t say how much of that is down. All they would tell me is that it’s more than 50% (I’m assuming by weight). They use a 80% LoftTek synthetic 20% 800 fill down in some of their sleeping bags. So if say 55% / 80g is down, that’s in Ghost Whisperer territory for just the down content. Other points of comparison would be the Patagonia Down Sweater which has 150g 800 fill down (all down) and feels MUCH loftier than this jacket.

Hey! Great insights into this. I did not have the exact specs on both of the jackets. But do have the Patagonia one as well. Definitely feel the loft on that one! I did a comparision video between them as well as the GW, and some other down jackets. Just my 2 cents on having used them over time. I appreciate your helpful note! Hope the NovaPro treats you well. It has 850 fill, which is great, but doesn’t it depend on how many ounces of fill?

Yes, and yes. More is Warmer. This has more than most in this category.

Just be careful with your comparison of fill weight in this jacket. They advertise 155g of DownLT but won’t say how much of that is down. All they would tell me is that it’s more than 50% (I’m assuming by weight). They use a 80% LoftTek synthetic 20% 800 fill down in some of their sleeping bags. So if say 55% / 80g is down, that’s in Ghost Whisperer territory for just the down content. Other points of comparison would be the Patagonia Down Sweater which has 150g 800 fill (all down) and feels MUCH loftier than this jacket.

another great video, thanks Sean. I also saw your video review of Patagonia Storm Shift pants. As you are out in Colorado and I'm guessing do some resort skiing, would you think that the Storm Shift pants and NovaPro down jacket, would be a good set up for resort skiing? I'm sure the pants would be fine, but do you think OK for the NovaPro? Or would you go with a more shell type top outer layer? Thanks, Russell

Hello Russell! Thanks for the very nice note! I do not do resort skiing (I am addicted to backcountry! LOL) but I do not see any reason you can not use the NovaPro in resort skiing situations. Especially with the waterproofed down and pit zips. It such a great and versatile hoodie. Let us know if you wind up going with it and what you think. Take care!

Pit zips are weird, don’t know who is actually doing cardio in their down jackets. But since no one else does put zips on down jackets I guess it’s a good niche for them.

Skinning uphill. I find it annoying to stop, take the puffy off, and stuff it in the pack, if the wind picks up then the reverse happens. This feature is a winner

Personally, I love pit zips. Even when not being active in a jacket, it is nice to have an ability to regulate the warmth of the garment. I feel like it provides a wider range of temperatures for use.

@@hanwagu9967 okay bud. No need for the Starbucks backhand 😂. I live in MT and in the mountains at least 5x a week, thank you. Sitka has an interesting take on a down hybrid with synthetic, but it’s a bit bulky. But for real stationary warmth that doesn’t kill me when I do cardio I go with a wool insulator, like the ones from Duckworth.
