Your brick-laying technique is awesome. You didn't cheap out on cement and everything was so precise and we'll made. I can see you take pride in your work
Cool ideas! I actually experience an Asian charcoal strove for life without the others optional energy cooking tools. Today, this new creative outdoors strove has made me happy for the maker😊👍

Red bricks, cement, trowel, spirit level, mallet hammer and gloves. The black squares are probably cast iron doors to open and close the stove. Only watched 3 mins in but that's about all I seen so far.
I'm excited and confused. I was always taught to keep all cement away from fire and heat as it literally explodes from how cement is made as the cement reaches basically a boiling point internally. Did you actually make Mortar, which is cement mixed with the appropriate building sand? or use a premixed mortar? or did you use straight cement? Because straight cement exposed to heat from a fire can and will explode in small pieces. For those looking for ingredients please know to use Mortar and not regular cement to hold the bricks together. There are many premixed mortars at home repair shops or there are many traditional ways of DIY where cement is mixed with certain types of sand, normally coarse sand/builders sand, to create Mortar. The DIY method allow you to really adjust the thickness of the product you are working with as you become more skilled at the trade of slathering it between the bricks vs making a retaining wall of large rocks. Never use straight unmixed cement as cement will break. Please read - High temperatures also affect the compressive strength of concrete. Above 212º F (thee temp of water boiling), the cement paste begins to dehydrate (loses chemically combined water of hydration), which gradually weakens the paste and paste-aggregate bond. The behavior of concrete at high temperatures is influenced by several factors, including the rate of temperature rise and the aggregate type and stability. Abrupt temperature changes can cause cracking and spalling due to thermal shock, and aggregate expansion can also produce distress within the concrete. Above 212 F and concrete can loose so much water it will crack and peel away. Higher then that can actually make those chips fly off to release the pressure of the water coming out. Always use the proper mortar for projects that will be around heat. Fireplaces to grills and so on.
He used fire bricks and insulation. Not sure why youtube commentors always need to slag on someone who obviously has done a thing before and knows what they are doing.

Just a note: cement and mortar are not the same. This is fine for a small project in a warm climate but if you live somewhere with constant freeze/thaw cycles or where there will be significant settling, your going to get cracked bricks instead of cracked joints and I'd rather fix joints than bricks. Nice work though.
@@Obyvvatel S mortar is the most universal for brick work and exactly: it’s a little weaker than the brick so it gives before the brick. Mortar has cement in it but there’s other stuff that weakens it and makes it easier to work and cures slower giving you more time.
While watching the vid, I was wondering, for those kind of woven build with red brick, and cement, is not a super type of cement used in the build ? then your comment pop up. lol Maybe it is close to your note, be aware I am no expert Maybe called mortar, dont know. As you said, I respect the project, its cute, and can make few tasty pots and cook some meat😊
