Violon Tide is Neptune third attack in the manga, after Deep Submerge and Submarine Reflection. And if you think playing instrument to attack is ridiculous, Mercury Aqua Rhapsody is the same.

She's using what she does best to create an attack, its supposed to showcase her personality. Mars used a bow just like she practiced in her civilian life too.
