Just found this channel and definitely agree. It's what I personally do, too, when watching any type to show or movie. If a question mark pops up in my head regarding a specific detail I always have to look it up. My friends are always amazed by all the little random facts I know but honestly it's all just due to the pairing of consuming media and my never ceasing curiosity.
Alexa, I absolutely love your historical tangents, please keep continue to do tat in all future Outlander episode reaction videos.. Learning new things and new aspects of the show is a good thing.
All of her clothes are borrowed from different village women, they probably see it as serving their Laird and are scared to say no, they're probably giving their best dresses to gain favor and mocking Claire behind her back when she wears them
First let me say: Merry meet to merry part to merry meet again. I love your style of reactions and THAT has earned you a Sub, Like and Rang the Bell. In answer to the question, had I traveled back in time in this manner I would repeat the circumstance to get home. But likely I may want to stay.
I had to say that your historical tangent was incredibly interesting & I kinda loved it 😊 Now...as far as your theory on how Claire could successfully return to the 1940's... I think your idea was rather smart. I am someone who follows an earth based spiritually & I often do ritual, & reversing the "spell" like you suggested Claire to do is exactly what would be logical to me. My opinion is based off these first 3 episodes in season 1...(although, fyi, I have watched all 5 seasons of show & read the first 4 books in the series). Thanks for listening to my tangent...lol. 💗
Love the tangents…I go on them all the time myself..it’s where so much of the best leaning is to be found. I used to love reference books pre-internet. But these days with the internet..it’s a whole new ever increasing/expanding level! I get lost for hours at a time… so, please take us along on the tangents, I have leaned some neat stuff already. I’ll never be able to watch someone pull stays tight with out yelling at the tv/screen again. Love it!
The historical tangents are so relatable to me, I rarely watch historical dramas and movies with my friends due to me ranting how inaccurate things are lol
I just found your videos, I love that you react to outlander. I'm already looking forward to the next video. This is perfect for droughtlander (it's what outlander fans call the long time between seasons, someone probably told you already). And I also like the historical rambles, can't wait to learn more through it and be the know it all at some future family gathering 😆
i quite enjoy the rants, my only complaint is that i wish these videos were longer! they go by so very quickly :( also i wouldn’t pick a specific day to go back, i’d just keep trying until i could. you seem to know much more than most about pagan customs and beliefs so you’d have that knowledge to work with. someone like me (or even claire) wouldn’t. it’s understandable that she isn’t taking any time to think about the ins and outs of traveling back. don’t be too hard on her, she doesn’t have all of the same info about this that you do.
That is an excellent point; she might have read about different sorts of things and it would not have occurred to her! She doesn’t need to worry about details like that for spellwork in her everyday life.
@@alexachipman exactly! she’s a wartime nurse, i’m sure there wasn’t much access to the study of this stuff. i’ve actually already read the first book and i’ll confirm it. she’s ignorant. do you study spells and such though? a comment from the first episode (i think) suggested you do…
@@chance757 Yes, I'm Avalonian :) I mostly create them, thus the instant jump to "how can she craft this spell" thought process, since I do it on a regular basis!
Don't worry, you WILL see more of Frank. (No Spoilers). Also, once you are done with the series, and I hope you do them all, you should read the books where you will get all the detail you want around time travel. You can also read the "Outlander Companions" which also detail the ins and outs of time travel, at least from the mind of the author. You will see more detail around the mythology of time travel in the show as well, but not in as much detail as in the books. Hang in there, I don't think you will be disappointed.
If I'm remembering correctly, we don't get the precise mechanism of how Claire is able to time travel until near the end of season 2-- which may be frustrating for you. But there's a little hint about midway in season one that may clarify things for you a bit. Saying any more would be spoilery and that would be very rude of me. 😁 Enjoying your reactions in the historical tangents!
If I were to travel and needed to get back, I wouldn’t travel on either of those days until I would extrapolate as much intel as possible and take the best calculated risk.
I still don't understand why Claire fainted after the nail was pulled. She has performed a LOT of bloody operations during the war. This should be nothing new.
She didn't want the kid to have to tear his ear off, so yeah she pretended to faint as a distraction so Jamie could free him without damaging his ear further.
@@hellscream46 I already knew because I read the books first, but if you go back and watch the scene, it's implied. Claire asks Jamie if he has strong fingers, implying could he pull the nail out with his hands. Jamie understands the subtext and goes to do so, and Claire just provides a distraction at the right moment.
