The Murano spare works perfectly fine for the Outlander and are usually plentiful at junkyards. It will very slightly rub on the front brake caliper but you should always use a donut/spare on the rear only in any vehicle as the engine weight and majority of braking force is in the front. If you get a front flat replace it with a rear tire and put the spare in on the back.
This actually a huge mistake of Mitsubishi for not adding a spare tire where it should be a standard to all cars for safety reasons..We should not be thinking at this point where we can buy a spare tire etc.or does the spare tire were going to buy is exactly the same hub or lug size etc, in other words, its headache to all buyers not until they found out that it has no spare tire available in this vehicle..Sad to say ,this is a deal breaker, i love this new outlander design, i love everything about this new generation ,it's sad why they didnt include a spare tire, its unbelievable...Btw, those plate mat underneat that you removed is useless now: (
I agree, the spare tire would be nice to have form the factory! However, quite a few brands do the same.. Tesla is the best example for this.. No spare tire and they don't even provide you with any type of sealant and compressor.. At least with Outlander there is a way to get it done.
Hai Thanks for the video... Just need to know if this will Suit my Outlander PHEV 2023. Will the spare tire go below the trunk matt. Awaiting your reply
I'm not sure if I've already commented but this has been great thanks! There's a few people in the internet space just wondering if the whole 3rd row seats can be completely removed? If so would you be able to do a video? Very interested in this :)
Im in awe ofthe outlander. But ill never ever buy a car without aspare tire. 3 months ago i had a flat tire that a sealant could not fix. The spare tire save me
I was able to get an 18" aluminum alloy wheel and a "real" street tire (235/60R18) that is the same size(diameter) from top to bottom for $265. I also purchased a small 2-ton floor jack from Autozone for around $100. This is less than the spare tire kit Mitsubishi sells for over $400. Even with the real spare tire and floor jack, my Outlander still averages 29.4 mpg driving in normal mode. It's sad that Mitsubishi doesn't include a spare. The sales rep where I bought it said it's for the mileage. Really? What a bunch of bull. The Outlander window tag says 32 mpg highway, and 26 mpg city. Long story short, I won't be stranded on the side of the road waiting for Mitubishi assistance, I'll be able to put my spare on and continue on my way. The only thing I was not able to do is put the spare in the tire well in back because there is a bass speaker there from the factory, so it lays behind the 2nd row of seats. If I should ever need the 3rd row, I can just stand the tire up in the back temporarily.
Is 29 mpg you're getting city, highway or combined. City streets or suburban 40mph + roads? I have a 2015 vw passat 1.8liter turbocharged engine and it only does 23 mpg city/suburban roads. 26 city on the outlander sounds great.
@@kris8263 Is that with a torque converter gearbox ? The official figure for the European Passat with the 1.8L TSI engine and DSG Gearbox is just over 40MPG (U.S. Gallons) real world figures across the Passat range seem to be about 80% of official so say 32MPG.
Thank you for sharing this video,i was about to return my 2019 outlander because i was very very dissapointed on how the mitsubishi didn't put the sparetire.
Thank you very much for the great video. I am in Ontario and have bought a new 2023 Outlander "LE" with 28" rim. Does the same Murano spare in video work for it? Thank you.
Hi, we just bought an outlander aspire PHEV, in Melbourne. very impressed with all the features, but very much disappointed on one thing, no tyre pressure monitoring system, for a car without a spare wheel, I believe it’s very crucial to monitor the tyre pressures. In India My brothers Kia Sonet small suv has a tyre pressure monitor in the car system, it has a spare wheel too. A feature so easy to have implemented, got neglected 🤷♂️
i bought one from the junk yard 2006 murano, just put on and it fit just nice. Thanks, i ve seen this comment in other FB groups and gave it a try. I just need to get a jack.
Nice. Thought this solved my lack of spare tire on 2024 Outlander GT. Looked today to find that the space was occupied by the Bose Sub Woofer. Any other creative ideas?
In case the hub is bigger, wheel never damage bolts! There is two types of wheels: Hub Centric or Lug Centric. In case whell center hole is bigger than hub, it is lug centric
People are complaining about no jack. But those little ass frail scissor jacks are dangerous anyway and I never use them. A small floor jack is always preferable.
It does not! I just came back from dealership. So to be able to store the 18 inch spare, people should avoid top model which has Bose sound system, or even better stay with lower model with 18 inch wheels to be compact and slightly better fuel efficiency.
I just booked an outlander in Australia luckily they do have spare tires here. I probably would have walked away if it didn't and gone with a car that comes with a spare tire. It's just unacceptable and lot of brand doing that is not an excuse.
I agree, I just purchased an Outlander here in Australia and would have been really pissed if there was no spare tyre but if it is supplied then a jack should also be supplied!
I'm sorry, I'm confused. Are you saying that also the original tire (which would be the damaged or flat tire) would fit in that compartment? I think I would have appreciated it more If I saw you put the other tire in that compartment. You would not have had to drive the car. The tire you put in the compartment looked like a "donut," which usually is considerably smaller than the factory tire.. Thanks.
Yeah, that's the BOSE subwoofer.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RscBQJYVGlU.html In that case, it's a decision to make.. Maybe worth to relocate the subwoofer.
Hi Guys, I have an SEL that came with 20" inch wheels. Is it okay to use an 18" inch spare typre in case of emergencies and the remaining 3 as 20" inch wheels?
Nice video. Thanks. I have one question about spire tire for outlander 2022 , you said Nissan Murano what year. Or model. Thanks for the answer new subscriber. 👍
Total diameter of the tire is basically the same. The wheel is smaller but the spare tire is much thicker - gives you the same height. Also, the purpose of the spare tire is to basically get you to the closest tire shop or home safely. It's not meant for high speeds, long drives etc. When I drove around to test it, couldn't tell the difference (but that's low speeds, city driving).
Can you make a video on how to replace the interior lights so far I got access to all of them but the two On the back I have the one with panoramic roof and the videos that are here on RU-vid only show the one without it. Thanks!
Why not just have a five-seater with a spare tyre and maybe get more sales, you can get a ES five-seater in Australia (I think the ES is the only version which is a bit hopeless)
To be honest, soooo many people love the fact that it's a 7 seater.. This is actually a big selling point here in Canada, alongside with standard S-AWC.
I have a 2022 outlander it is awesome. I picked up on 3/10/22. I live in Wilmington MA near Boston. Could you let me know where I can get a donut spare. I have the 20 inch wheels.
Thing is people need to understand is that the decision to omit the spare tire wasn’t actually Mitsubishi’s decision but Nissan as this is a Nissan platform from the Rogue since older Outlanders all had a spare tire of some sort. I do agree having a spare tire is something that should have been federally mandated decades ago but I digress. Even though I would prefer a spare, got me the Safety Seal tire repair kit since I have the PHEV version (which cannot pull this trick off) and most mechanics I know have in their trucks this tire repair kit and they all swear by that stuff so gives some piece of mind to at least get to a mechanic or dealer to get a proper repair or replacement tire.
Here are the specs you need to know when you’re looking for an Outlander spare tire: Bolt pattern: 5 x 114.3 mm Hub center: 66.1 mm Tire size: T165 x 90 D-18.
We own a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL Touring package with 20" inch wheels. I am going to pull the 20" wheels and tires off for the winter here in Pennsylvania. Would the 2003 - 2015 Nissan Murano 18" wheel be the correct wheel with the appropriate sized winter tire? Thank you, Dave
@dmtrashman I just left a comment with an 18" wheel and tire size that is the same diameter as the tires on the 20" factory wheels if you're interested. I don't remember the lug spacing on the wheels, but I got the wheel and tire at Discount Tires. They can look up the lug pattern for you.
Deal breaker. They want to save money by not including a spare, how much more money are they going to lose by people not buying the car? It would be a great selling point, especially for people who want to do some off road driving.
How does the outlander compare to quality issues that mitsubishis models had in past. I used to own a brand new 98 eclipse, got rid of it in 5 years as it gave me nothing but trouble. Have stayed away from mitsubishi ever since.
Now the question is, when you do have a flat and you put in your new spare wheel, will the wheel with the flat tire fits into the space under the trunk?
I tried putting my winter wheel/tire in that space today as a spare option, it would not fit, not even close. It would have to me in the cargo area. BTW my winter set up is thinner than the stock setup.
I bought a new spare from a Nissan Rogue from EBay and stow it under the rear cargo floor with no problem. The jack and other items are in a small duffel bag carried aft. I did not test clearances on the front as I will not use it on a front axle. Clearances are OK on the rear. Mr. Mitsubishi - Would you consider producing a number of short service videos for the DIY community, and those who don't have easy access to a Mitsubishi shop? The service videos I'd like to see are engine oil and filter change, CVT fluid and filter change (including cooler filter, pan and gasket), front and rear differential fluid change and transfer case fluid change. Please include part numbers and tools required.
@Mr. Mitsubishi What is the size of the spare tire for 2023 Mitsubishi outlander se s-awc? Thanks. I will be waiting for your reply And where can I buy it?
Ok so the tyre fits in there so they could hv just given us a tyre. Anyways I hv 2 set of alloy wheels but now I know I can probably fit my full size tyre there so fonna try that.. big relief
Will my 2016 outlander spare tire fit my 2022? I forgot to put my spare back when I traded in my 2016 so I do have a spare in my storage. - update 2016 outlander spare tire does fit into the outlander it is a size smaller compared to the Nissan spare tire but it will get you where you need too.
I was driving my wife’s 2022 outlander se got a flat called AAA and said the hole was too big to be fixed so I had it towed to a tire center they didn’t have a tire for it so I told them to put the spare on nope no spare tire I never heard such thing
Why not Mitsubishi make a spare tire for outlander? If i am to recommend outlander, one of the reasons I can’t do it is because there is no spare tire.
I really appreciate the offer. I will most likely be buying the second year model of the PHEV Outlander. Just planning it out for now. Really appreciate your offer and your videos. I will def drop by and see you when the time comes!
I confused about spare tire , regular murano size is 235/6518 spare size is different. All these solutions are just to get to tire shop , driving with with spare might kill your differential. You will hear this humming noise on awd cars . Awd needs all tires same size , even same brand . I made mistake of putting different brand on the front and 2 different on the back , same size . Rear differential recognized the difference on my Murano . Rear diff broke.
The idea of the spare tire is quite simple - it helps you to get to the closest tire shop so you can repair or replace your damaged tire. It wont' damage anything if you driving it for that purpose.
So to the people that said it was a success, I've got a question. I work at a Mitsu dealer. We just bought an 18" spare for a 2003-2015 Murano and tried to bolt it on a 2022 Outlander. Without even mounting the tire once you bolt on the rim the front brake caliper rubbed on the inside of the wheel. Now the 22 we tried has the OEM 20" wheels on it. There's no way this wheel can be used as a spare. Perhaps Canadian Vehicles are different that the ones sold in the States.
Hey guys at Daytona Mitsubishi! :) Thank you for dropping a comment! It's weird.. One thing that comes to mind - maybe it was the wrong size of the tire you somehow ended up getting..? We also tried this on a 22 Outlander with OEM 20" wheels on it. There are some feature and trim level differences between countries but I don't believe in terms of bolt pattern, off set, brake placement Canadian vehicles are different form US.. Either way, I think a good lesson - before trusting it as a spare tire, test it if it actually works! (worked for us, I actually drove the Outlander around on the spare).
So, Daytona Mitsu, you say you test fit the Murano wheel on the front. And Mr. Mitsu test drove a rear installation. Without verifying you both had the same tire sizes, this workaround may only work on the rear. However there must be a solution, with a size that fits both. I wonder if the 21/2022 Rogue spare would be a better option. Anyway, my sincere thank you to the Canadian dealer Salesman Mr. Mitsubishi who continues to try and solve this puzzle. Would there ever be a chance to get the Australian parts ordered for us North American customers ? My Mitsubishi dealer on the west coast of Florida has not been helpful at all. Just not at all serious about offering a solution before I purchase this vehicle.
It will rub slightly on the front caliper. But…Spare tires are meant to be used on the rear. If you get a front flat, change with a rear tire and put the spare in the back. Heavy engine and front braking force should always have a full size tire on fronts.
I just bought a 2015 Canadian Outlander - 7 passenger and was pleased to find that it has a space saver under the car and a jack and wheel wrench inside.
well !!! I was very interested in possibly getting Outlander next year. I really don't like how it doesn't have a spare tire and a jack. That's not a solution at all that we have to purchase a tire and jack for our brand new vehicle. Mitsubishi should cover that. It's sorta a big deal. Where do you put the jack you buy then? on the floor in the back ? Not cool.
Hi Mr. Mitsubishi, I just bought Mitsubishi Outlander 2022 last month here in canada. Unfortunately I got a warning low tire pressure on my dashboard but my tire is good in condition. What i will do to fix that issue on the dashboard? TIA
Hello Mr. Mitsubishi! Can you help me out? I want to fit a spare tire on my Black Edition Outlander which comes with P255/45 R20. I believe the measurements on this video won't be accurate for my case. Can you enlighten me?
It doesn't matter if you have 20" or 18" (or any aftermarket wheels) on your 2022/2023 Outlander. As long as you get the proper spare tire as I outline in video description - you're fine. What matters is to get the right bolt pattern, hub centre etc.
I just experienced over the weekend and discovered no spare. I had a nail in the inside wall of tire. I'm very disappointed in not having spare tire or jack. What can I do to get one? Glad I did not have my grand children on this trip.
It's a tough choice then.. They don't both fit. I made a video on where the subwoofer is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RscBQJYVGlU.html In that case, maybe you can relocate/ upgrade the subwoofer.
Yes they should, check out "MTB Alex" on RU-vid, he has a 22 Outalander GT trim with a Bose system and got the spare to fit. The subwoofer goes inside the wheel just like it does in the Nissan Murano.
This is great! I actually like there is no spare. I use the under storage on my current 20’ passport and removed the spare for extra room. Really interested in getting this outlander
