#Outlander is based on a set of novels by Diana Gabaldon and yet another example of #Scotland used as a historic location for #Hollywood networks. #Wales still has nothing like this! Why not?

Wales has a multitude of stories, legends, characters and novels about historical conflict, just like Outlander. So Why does it never get the historical Hollywood treatment?

So glad you make these videos! Always touching on questions I've been asking! I hope we have some shows on Netflix or something one day

Tidy. I've decided to make a proper go of the channel. It's hard as they don't get many views - Wales being Wales and all! So whenever I get the thoughts of viewers it's validating. Particularly when occasionally someone takes the time to state their appreciation for its existence, well that's a huge thing. So, diolch. Nick.

I personally would love to see Sarah Woodbury's After Cilmeri series turned into a series.

Great video mate. Like you said there’s no chance of it happening now with the rise for independence but I can’t believe there’s never been any film about Owain glyndwr. But then again, there has been 2 Robert the Bruce films in the last couple of years.

Shwmae Nick, Another very interesting video - diolch! I think Wales suffers in English cultural movie storytelling simply becuase most of the Welsh cultural stories do not belong there (because they are not culturally English) and because the stories that do belong there (becuase they are not culturally English) and becuase the stories that do seem to belong were appropriated a long time ago (e.g. King Arthur) and became 'British' (or tragically even 'English') stories. Scots and Irish culture don't suffer much from this anymore becuase they have been linguistically (and culturally?) Anglicised to a greater extent in recent years. Whereas Welsh culture is actually growing stronger and stronger with a new confidence in the language and nationhood developing along with it. What do you think? We should make Welsh language films to tell Welsh stories and if theyare good enough (e.g. Hedd Wyn) then they will be watched - all over the world. Surely money is the only barrier from stopping this. Talent is abundant.

As I know that you're open to constructive criticism, I found it interesting how you used the terms like the 'British nation' and the 'UK' to mean the same thing. Is there a British nation? I'd say 'No'. There are cultural ties bewteen the nations of Britain but there is no nation of Britain. So I would ask everyone to use the term UK, GB and Britain more carefully. But will we ever see the 'British' portray Wales in a good light? It doesn't fit with the British narrative does it? You may be right to say Hollywood (or why not Bollywood, France or even China?) are a better bet?

@@woganjones2012 maaate - only just seen this! I always struggle with wih nouns/adjectives to use tbh. I do believe there is a British nation if im honest, and I'm sympathetic to that persective which is why I dislike some of Yes Cymru's tone on that topic. I don't believe that Northern Ireland is part of it though. It's just one of many examples of the inappropriate and inadequate terms we have to describe these islands and what an absurd situation it is.

I get so upset about the media ignoring Wales, especially the BBC who seem to create countless programs and documentaries about events in English and Scottish medieval history they have done 1 about Wales. Iv contacted them lots of times, and they always point out all those wars of the roses programs as Wales' lot.
