@@hound9313 To tell you something personal. I recently watched Josey Wales with my father (in his 70s). He always talked about the scene w/ Ten Bears. Specifically, "I am Ten Bears" with that resonate voice. Recently, I went to visit my parents and it was on TV. We watched it, and when that scene came on, we both looked @ each other and smiled... nodding our heads, like "damn, that is a great cinematic moment" - I think the fact that we have some Native American blood in our line makes it somewhat more poignant. Regardless, a great flick

He ad-libbed most of his lines, making them up as he went along. His unique form of what I affectionately refer to as "Saucy Philosophy" was exactly as you saw. He did all of the same things in life as he did in the movies he starred in. He was a character actor through and through. But he was also one helluva nice guy.

Uh...huh...was that in between the times, the tribes weren't killing each other? I went to the Ute / Comanche Peace Treaty signing that finally happened in 1977. So let's not pretend the Native Americans weren't at war with, and killing, each other whenever they could.

@1stockdale159
@1stockdale159 8 месяцев назад
:) By all means please explain “he deserves OUR RESPECT.” There were several different tribes fighting and killing each other before the new settlers moved here; besides, archaeologists have discovered that Indians weren’t the first in North America. Yes, Dan George was a great actor, but nobody deserves respect unless they first do something to deserve it and live an upright life. I like Dan as an actor, but I don't have to respect him. Lying Biden & his regime don't deserve our respect, but I pray for them, and hope they repent; Biden is destroying America. Every civilization has some ugly things in their past, even the all the tribes before us. Africa had and still does have slavery; even in America, some rich black plantation owners owned slaves. In Africa they had cannibalism. The Bible says, for all have sinned and fall short. Thank Jesus Christ for dying for our sins, the just for the unjust, to bring us to God. Hope you have a Merry Christmas.

That would be the writers. His 'rants' though, seemed intentional. As if to say or show that native's 'whining' was pointless. Like the guy said in Thunderheart: "They're a conquered people". There's dynamic here where Dan' character does go on about his people, but Cint's character seems to roll his eyes at it as if to say: "We can't go back or change what happened, so let's cut the BS and try to live with each other, in peace.

@@AlexMkd1984 Stolen from the Spanish? Here's my take on things: The Shoshone, looked to the French THEN helped Lewis and Clark to 'get an edge' on a HUGE swarm of horseback warrior Nomads who swarmed from across the Canadian Border a few decades before. This 'swarm' outnumbered every other group of Indians and either pushed them to the fringes or stomped all over them. They called themselves The 'Lakota'. They also forced the Crow out of their places of power so the Crow moved and pushed another weaker group out of the area who were known as 'Commanches'. The Commanches moved to Texas and...well, Texas used to be home for the Apache but they got run out and they relocated to Arizona and New Mexico. And how did the Apaches and Commanches make their living? It ain't just from 'hunting and gathering' , it's from 'pillaging' weaker people you can 'roll over'. IF they're stronger than you, you avoid them; if they're as strong as you...you 'dealt' with 'em. If they were weaker, well...you can guess.
