I first watched Clint in the spaghetti westerns at the drive in around 1969ish, give or take a year, I was only around 11-12 yo. Then Dirty Harry came out when I was in high school and I had a poster of him on my bedroom wall. Through the years I have never been disappointed with any of his movies. He will be sorely missed when he is gone. I pray he realizes that accepting Jesus is the only way to heaven, before it is too late.

People can't compare this movie to Unforgiven . This one is just too good...could be compared to Good,Bad and Ugly. Thats it. Two masterful movies..

Clint was my hero as a gunslinger. He always made western movies, fun to watch. Mum took me to the drive in, when I was a young lad to see this film (loved it) I am turning 57 this year, where has all my years gone.

My favorite two lines, "Dying ain't much of a living, boy" and " You going to pull them pistols or whistle dixie". and when the guy was trying to sale him elixir saying it was good for anything then he spit tabaco on him and said " How about stains".

It's crazy to think that Chief Dan George (The elderly Indian guy) was nearly 80 years old when he appeared in this movie.

You left out perhaps the best line in the movie, in my opinion and that is, “Reckon I’m right popular.“ That gets me every time.

As far as I'm concerned, this was he best movie EVER! Not just the best Clint Eastwood movie but honestly, the best movie in the history of movies. ...even better than star wars. One of the aspects that I loved best was the way they showed the Native American as an honorable and intelligent human being.

Watching a few clips of this film makes you realise how good it really was.

Because of Chief Dan George's age, he would have trouble remembering his lines, so during takes, Clint Eastwood would begin to mouth his lines without realizing it and had to be told to stop because it would ruin the take. In a featurette on the DVD about making this movie, Eastwood says he'd have people drill Dan George on his lines, but when it came time to shoot the scene, he'd say "Chief, just forget about the lines, tell me the story about the man who rode over the hill." And Dan George, who was apparently a natural storyteller, would then tell the story perfectly.

Fun Fact - Clint Eastwood was so Influential that 2 bigtime Jamaican reggae rappers were so inspired by him that they took his names from way back in the late 70s and they still perform to this day. One is called Josey Wales and the other is Clint Eastwood. Do a RU-vid search of Josey Wales reggae or Clint Eastwood reggae if you don't believe me. Peace.

Great grandfather rode with Quantrell and bloodybill, wounded 7 times and lived to 72. He was with them in Lawrence Ks. He quit them as one of them was too extreme. Love Clint for showing the Southern side,somethingh like 56 movies made about the subject and only one ,this one, from the Southern perspective. When the war ended he was an educator, he never displayed the confederate flag, once the war was over,that was it. Except, during the war, he was captured, there were three prisoners, and the Northern officer in charge would not let them use the blankets that were right there to shield themselves from the cold,during a river crossing. This was so unnecessarily cruel that the three agreed one of them must kill him after the war, they drew straws. On his death bed many years later his children and grandchildren were by his bedside and asked "Daddy ,who got the short straw?" Of course, he didn't answer. In Lawrence they killed every man over the age of 15,great grandfather was so tired at the end of the day, he couldn't mount his horse which was very tall,they measured them in so many hands high. Quantrell came down the main street at full gallop and just like in the movies swing him up on his horse never slowing down. He was from Missouri,just like Josey,and settled in Texas,where I have thousands of cousins ,today.

ABSOLUTELY the best western movie - most realistic, post Civil War era, down to the weapons and clothing. EXCELLENT ! (Before someone complains about the Gatling gun, they were originally available late in the Civil War - but never put to much use due to high cost and relegated to artillery units.)
