@@CarlosRamirez-ns7qw so far is going pretty good but I have encountered a few problems, let me explain the Outlaw is working perfectly, the problem is my Audessy room correction & auto calibration. I do not have the perfect room, my leaving room is small but is open to the front entrance and sliding glass doors and also the bedroom door faces the front of my setup making more challenging to get the best sound, after many trial & error I ended up doing a factory reset of my Marantz AVR sr5009 plugged the outlaw back in and this time I didn't run the auto calibration I left it plain I just set up my distance manually and speakers sizes, cut off points to 80Htz immediately I noticed and increase in db and the sounds is much better, still need some more tweaking but all and all the Outlaw is awesome.
separate amps do more than just add volume. Internal amps from AVR cannot compare to the output of a separate dedicated amp.Even if they are rated the same. AVRs power drop tremendously the more speakers you add. Separate amps run at max with all channels driven. Separate amps adds fullness and detail to speakers not just volume plus it takes the stress off of your AVR which makes it last longer and allows the receiver to do just the sound and picture processing,
Hello, I ordered the Outlaw 5000 I have the Denon x5200w and I’m bi-amping my front speakers so should I use 4 channels of the Outlaw for the front speakers and the other channel for the center? How would you connect these? Thanks!
According to Audioholics review, you should use the SL & L inputs for your surrounds. This is due to the position of the transformer inside the amp which causes an elevated noise floor on those two channels (more hiss).
If I add this amplifier to the/a Denon receiver, BUT left the Atmos and rear the rest of a 11.2 or 9.2 on the Denon, do they still work, after you use the pre-amp out section for L,C, R, SL, SR outs??
great review of the outlaw 5,000. i have this amp powering my s-150 lcr speakers..they are 4 ohm.systems sounds great..something else you did not mention is that it takes the load off your reciever because outlaw is powering the main channels..so if your just using your reciever for just back and atmos channels, your going to have plenty of power.
Another really great video.. of a product that I have NO interest in... But.... You still make it enjoyable to hear of what it can do, features, insight of build quality and performance.... Great blend of info.... 👍🏻
Hi Techno Dad, i was wondering if i was going to need an external amp, because im creating a new setup with the denon 4400h with full klipsch speaker and i was wondering if the receiver will move all the klipsch speakers well with out an external amp. Im going for a 7.1.2 atmos confg. Plz help. I have a medium room and i dont really need it to be loud just clear and able to create the full inmerse atmosphere. PS. Sorry for my english my main language is Spanish. Still love ur vidz.
Christian P.R. If you’re going with Klipsch you don’t need an external amp because Klipschs are rated at 98db. Check Chana’s video about sensitivity of speakers
@@TechnoDad I hear ya. You got a sweet set up. But there's a group of us out there that have av Processors too and love separates. These mono blocks are intriguing especially at their price point.
Great review specifically for someone who's just getting into amp for first time. It would be great if you can also let us know if this amp provided any other sonic benefit other than louder volume.
Hi! I can tell you this now, there's a lot more dynamic punch with this amplifier. Also, with speakers that have less sensitivity, it's a noticeable difference over the AVR.
I see you were using a Furman Elite 15 PFi. Any problems running both on that unit? I just bought a Furman Elite 20 PFi, ( I am installing a dedicated 20 amp outlet,) the Furman will be serviced by a Pangea AC 9 SE MKII power cord. I will be using an Anthem MRX 1140, Outlaw 5000X, 2 OSD SMP1000DSP sub amps, a Samsung QN49Q80T display, an Oppo 203, a Panasonic UB 9000, a Sony UBP-X800M2, a Zappiti Pro 4K, an Oppo BDP-83, and an Nvidia Shield TV Pro. Hopefully the Furman will be up to the task.
Hi! I currently have a Parasound A51, Parasound A52+, Marantz SR7015, Oppo 203, DirecTV box, Xbox Series X, PS5, and a 65" LG OLED. No issues. I used to have more connected as well but removed a few items.
Outlaw builds awesome stuff. They have other very affordable, very powerful amps. I just ordered the Denon X3400H to be paired with my Parasound HCA1205A. What do you think of the X3400H?
Hi TD This Outlaw amp is very similar to my Emotiva A-5175 specs, I set my amp up with FCL & rear surrounds with the top centre speakers hooked to the SR5012. I got bored with that setup so I have Biamped the RP-260 with it 125 watts to H/F & 125 watts to L/F also running the centre off it too & hooked the surround L & R & top centres to the SR5012. It states 175 watts into 2 channels at 8 ohms and 125 watts all 5 channels driven so running the 4 channels into the front speakers must be at least 250 watts per L & R and certainly makes them respond well and really enjoying it like that. What ya think of that TD?
What's up Brett?! So you're bi-amping your mains with the 5175. You should be hearing a big difference with that amount of power going into each speaker. Coincidentally, the A-5175 is the amp I requested from Emotiva to review, but they have not sent it out yet. I'm not interested in hearing the Outlaw Model 7140. 7 channels at 140 wpc into 8 ohms. Although, I think I'd only run 4 channels so I should be getting extra power.
Hello sir,the video is really easy to follow but connecting the outlaw 5000 to my avr 4400 I saw how you connect the interconnect cables from svs but I’m confused about connecting the speaker cables from outlaw to avr 4400??how and which connections do you use on back and from the avr to speakers, please help me ,thanks
Fam! I was going to ask you last night to make a video adding external amp to the x4400h ! Lol. My external will be here Saturday. I have everything set up, just waiting for the amp. Wish I could post a pic on here.
Enjoying your vids. Keep them coming. Does a new speaker calibration have to be done after connecting Amp ? Does the AVR adjust because an Amp is in the equation ?
Techno Dad i have Bowers & Wilkins 683 s2 and i bought a outlaw 5000 where do i connect the speaker wire in the B & W HF or LF for better sound thanks ahead for the videos and great info.
Thanks for showing how it hooks up to the amp, but I am confused as why this is even needed. After all the surround amp already has the outputs for the speakers, so how does this help??
The Surround amp is rated at 140 wpc for two channels driven. So when you have the AVR powering 9 channels at once we are hoping to get around 50 wpc if we are lucky. Having an external amp gets rid of this issue because we know exactly how much power is output with all channels drive .
would adding a power amp take away some of the features your receiver is capable of since you're connecting your speakers to another source and not directly to the speakers? for example would AURA 3D for my denon reciever still be compatible?
techno a question have you ever tried too wire your klipsch up too the top set of post , and the bottom set too the surround ? i have heard of this being done! if they have the little plates they are separated in that way of wiring!
ok man i posted my question on another video before i saw this. As you know from us talking alot when iput together my system I also have the x4400h.. and i love it but i feel m yascend acoustic 340 se LCR should be performing way better than what i am getting. maybe its just me i dunno. but i feel like im not getting full potential from them... they are rated for 240 watts continuous and 400 peak. i also have my new surrounds coming in the next few hours and i picked up a couple ascend acoustic cbm 170 se for my surrounds..... since we last spoke i did a sub crawl and moved my hsu vtf 2 mk5 to the rear left corner of my room next to my couch. HUGE improvement there for sure.. but when it comes to my speakers they sound good but i feel im missing some clarity and punch and i have to turn my volume up on the denon pretty damn close to maxed when listening to msuic and with some films.. so im thinkin maybe they are not getting the power they need to really shine.. maybe im wrong i dunno. they are set to small and 80 hz. audyssey set my height speakers to 120 and 40. and my current temporary surrounds are set to 100. will be replacing them with the cbm 170s when i get home monday and running audyssey again with the new surrounds.. so my question is should i invest in an amp or should i just pump up the levels on all of them a bit..... am i wasting my money an an external amp to get what i think im missing and im def lookin at the outlaw.. unless there is a less expensive option i have yet to find... as always i appreciate and highly value your input above all others. must be that shirt! thanks again. looking to correct my issue asap
Hello I need your help again ,I need the trigger cable for my AVRX4400H to outlaw amp.please send me info to where I can get the same trigger cable and what the name and what website, your the best
I have an old Sony da7es that goes into protect mode. If I hook up this amplifier to the Sony will it work? I'm not in the market for another 1600 dollar receiver
I have a Yamaha Aventage 4A4. I next bought an Emotiva Bas X3 to power the front set of speakers. I also bought the Outlaw 5000x for powering the surround speakers only. I will leave the rear surrounds for the receiver. I already have the receiver, the amplifiers are still to arrive. Would that be a good set up, Techno Dad?
Hi channa nice channel as always. Im curuious about using pramp or power amp connected to a receiver, can the manual equalizer still be used when we use a power amp? Coz when we do use it i think it's connected with a preout right? To my knowledge preout cant be set to equalizer or am i wrong? Thank u and looking forward to your reply
Hi techno dad would you recommend using the outlaw 5000 to power my front speakers the klipsch rp8000 and klipsch 250c, or it will be too much power for the center speaker since it can only handle 125 watts???
I just thought I'd ask in ccase you have an idea? I've been looking for the Outlaw Model 5000 and I can't find it in Canada. Do you have any suggestion for an alternative that I can find in Canadian market. and that won't break the bank? Thanks
What's up Hugh? So, speakers, amplifiers, and speaker wire create an electrical circuit and each speaker has a level of resistance which is measured in ohms. Speakers differ in ohms due to the drivers, crossovers, and sensitivity. If an amplifier outputs 100 watts per channel into 8 ohms, that same amplifier may output 200 watts into 4 ohms. One of the things you definitely have to consider when pairing speakers and amps is if the amp is stable at 4 ohms. If it's not stable, it could start clipping. You have to watch out though, as some speakers that are 4 ohms have a lower sensitivity, which might not be a good thing. Funny, I was going to make a video about this topic, and it's painfully obvious that I need to make one. If you haven't seen my video about speaker sensitivity, check it out: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-53KBKYeJdPs.html
Been waiting for this review! I have the Outlaw 975 Pre-Pro and I'm using an old Denon receiver for the amp. $599 is a great price for an amp of this power but it has only 4 output devices per channel. So I'm curious about your testing especially as far as heat production. I doubt this amp is made by ATI like most Outlaw and Monoprice Monolith. Does it say "Made in China"? Have you looked inside? Can't wait for your full review. From the specs, this amp has few if any rivals at this price.
Hi Alex the Emotiva A-5175 would be the next closest which I have and is about $200 more expensive and seems to have more noise than the Outlaw amp too. I wish they sold Outlaw amps in New Zealand.
I have the same AVR 4400H in command.. I know this amp is "older" now, but im still considering hunting one down and seeing if it really make any improvement to my setup. I am currently running the classic Klipsch RF-7s LR and C. and my rears are Klipsch 280FA's.. Any thoughts or suggestions? is it REALLY a 60% increase or is this dude just trying to promote to make money off the sales? Its so hard to find what's genuine and what is not these days.
Debating on this amp or the emotiva a-500to run my main 5 channels on my 7.1.4 system just wondering if the outlaw to strong for my speakers I have the pioneer andrew jones speakers the towers are rated at 130 watts the center is 90 and the bookshelves are 80 what do you think is the outlaw a bit to much
Techno Dad I don’t mean to badger you but.... I searched TJ Maxx online and no bueno!!! Was that a recent?? BTW, Your Page is great. Very informative. I’m in process of going Atmos!!
Hello Techno Dad I got a Denon 4500 and was looking to add a external amp. I’m stuck on the Outlaw 5000 or Emotiva 5175 running a 5.1.4 and would like to bump it to a 7.1.4 all Klipsch. I Would just like to know which one you would choose please advise me It’ll go a long way in my decision. Thank you!!
Adding external power is always a nice thing. However, is it worth it for you personally based on your room size, existing AVR and speaker sensitivity? I think not in most cases. Had these been SVS Ultra Speakers instead of Klipsch, perhaps adding an external amp would be a necessity with that Denon where the Klipsch would be just right without the amp.
Wookie Groomer yeah Klipsch are super efficient so they don't really need an external power source but I think the just of the video was to just show people how to setup an external amp in general.
right i was listening to the fact that 599.00 was getting you 2 db more but he also stated 65% more volume 2db in my ears doesnt equate to 65% more like 5-10% and at 599.00 i can go with a more sensitive speaker and achieve the output in comparable speakers.just my opinion channa is a dj so he knows the math better than i.
Great point Wookie Groomer! I just want more power! No, j/k. I want to run a 10.1 Auro-3D setup, and the only way to do that is with an external amp. Instead of going with a single amplifier for one speaker. I figured I'd go with a 5 channel amp to better my front stage and see the "real world" results. Also, SVS is sending me another 5.1 speaker package to review.
Mrtscrp to gain 3 dB of sound, we have to double the power output. So if we have 90 dB at 10 watts, to get to 93 dB we need an additional 10 watts of power, so 20 total. So in the video we went up 2 dB so we did not double the power output, but we did go up by about 65 - 66%.
Hi techno dad! After wiring up, do we need to assign amp on the Denon receiver? How does Audyssey work when using external amp. I am getting this particular component soon, so your technical guidance is appreciated. Thanks. Btw, I am your subscriber.
It improves volume and dynamics. When you have extra headroom for large dynamic shifts in content, your AVR will struggle. When you have off-loaded the amplification to a dedicated amp, those parts of the content are stronger.
Hi Fabian! I'm actually using three channels for my front stage and one Chanel for the Auro-3D Top Layer. So right now there's one channel on the amp not being used
@@josefermalino461 you can turn it on manually its the only way unless you have trigger just press the power button or leave it always on ive left my model 5000 on for months straight at times
Hi! You would have to split the signal from subwoofer 1 to go to both subs as the VOG info comes from sub 2 output. So they will not be independent anymore.
Sorry I know it's from older video but I just watched before you buy QLED video. What is your take on 2018 QLEDS. My tcl had issue and I have warranty but they are backordered for 2 months so I upgraded to samsung Q6FN. For 1500 for 65inch. Is this a step down from tcl R6?
Shaun Davids awesome thanks. Just got it over weekend and so far the colors are so amazing and its Q6. Kinda wish I would have upgraded to Q7 heard the color gamut highest on that model.
Hi I have emotiva 7 channel amp, and onkyo prz5100 preamp and 2 front klipsch rf82's, 1 klipsch center, 1 klipsch subwoofer and 2 klipsch surround speakers. Im running a 5.1 home theater but i have 2 xtra klipsh bookshleves which i want to use but unfortunatelyall the connections at the back of my emotiva xlr inputs are all full. I biamp my 2 fronts thats why i use the extra 2 xlr inputs for that. Now at onkyo prz5100 preamp its 11.9 channel. How can i connect the xtra 2 klipsch bookshelves speakers to use for dolby atmos at onkyo. should i buy another power amp that is 2 channel? but what is there is only rca connection? how can i connect that? and how? thanks
I have done it both ways. If you want an extra boost in volume, don’t rerun Audyssey. If you do that, the other speakers might not have enough power or presence.
Hey Techno Dad I am running 5.1 with Denon 4400h and I am wondering should I run the 4 heights with Outlaw or do you recommend a different setup. Front stage SVS Ultra, SVS Prime satellite (2) rears and 4 SVS Prime elevation?
Hi Anders! The trigger is used to turn other equipment on remotely. So when I turn on the Denon, it will send a signal via the trigger out to tell whatever is connected on the other end to turn on as well. So I don't need to keep the amp on all the time or manually turn it on every time someone wants to watch TV. Most amps don't use an IR sensor with a remote control. The trigger is like a remote control to power on and power off the amp.
