The Timmy in me really hopes this set allows mono green to be a thing again.

Juzam had the benefit of being black, and I it was always a good feeling to turn 1 Juzam off a dark ritual draw with any of the efficient mana rocks. They were selling for more than the moxes when I sold my high end stuff in the late 90s. I ran 4x Juzam 4x Erhnam in my type 1 land destruction deck.

That new Kambal looks sweet for the 99 Aristrocrat EDH deck :P

Harvester of Misery goes into squirming emergence. You can get a 5 drop out on turn 3 easy in that deck, plus it discards itself.

Bristlebud Farmer is outclassed by the Rattlewurm that is in the same set....

Jitte on a double-striker🤤

We really didn't need a new Jitte. This thing is still going to be a problem despite being "powered down", especially because there's just enough proliferation around to be a factor. That untap ability is way more powerful than people think.

Tarnation Vista is an auto include for Shrine decks. 5 color deck, all mono colored cards. Chicken was like, "Holy moly!"

I'm gonna put Bristlebud Farmer and Harvester of Misery in my Meren Commander rebuild, if they're not too expensive. The new Jitte is something Balan wants. The Cornucopia might be useful for a build of Willowdusk that is looking to ramp into some 5+drops before resolving Willowdusk. Or to play a 2-drop alongside Willowdusk on turn four? Being able to always provide the one extra mana to activate the commander's ability and reliably contribute +1 to the result seems alright for the developing stage, and isn't nothing after a board-wipe takes out your life manipulation creatures.

There's going to be a hilariously menacing rakdos hand dump [Case of the Crimson Pulse]+[Gamble of Greed] deck mark my words

Jitte + double strike = double charge counters? Idk if there's any 1 mana double strikers in the format but untapping two lands on turn 3 seems pretty good. Interesting card either way.

If you blink gamble of greed with guardian of Ghirapur, the second trigger won’t happen because it’ll come back at the beginning of end step. So that’s something I guess.

I like that they made massacre worm 2 cards in alachemy between that crocodile that just makes stab wounds and the double blood artist guy... only problem is they both cost 6 so its mad hard 😂

the once per turn claws pushes some of these cards out of the general commander play and focus more on standard, and I think that's a good thing.

Harvester is no Massacre Wurm. One-sided sweeper vs general sweeper is a huuuuge gulf, and the death trigger is way bigger than the over-priced disfigure option.

Sandstorm scrapper and ojoer would be interesting goblins or demons.

Bristlebud is a plant so he gets the buff from insidious roots and triggers it with the mill of it's a creature right

Gamble of Greed makes me wish we had way more "make a deal with the devil" type effects in the wild west set

Notably hostile investigator doesn't care who's discarding cards which makes it a lot more versatile than it might look at first glance. Plays well with blood tokens and such.

The Vista does get better if you can drop off color tokens like the mercenaries in nonred decks... don't know if that is enough to make it good, but playable maybe

With you on the Jitte. Sure it's weak compared to the OG but the OG was broken so, yeah, of course it's weak in comparison. It's still a damn good card.

Lost Jitte with prowess in burnd decks untaping that land or making that creature bigger. might be really good

I can’t believe people are against hostile investigator. It also enables crime and is a detective if that matters to anyone. It does so much for 4 mana.

Gamble of Greed seems horrible? That end step trigger is devastating.

Jitte was best with first strikers. New Jitte seems the same in this regard. Can't think of any first strikers seeing much play right now but maybe I'm wrong.

Could you use Tishana's Tidebinder to negate the trigger?

Gamble of greed forces you to do the second paragraph EVERY one of your end steps though…. Not convinced it’s good.

I don't understand Wizards' design decisions with this set. It seems, again with this set, like they're just not considering Standard in their designs just at all. Cornucopia is worse than the Celestus, same with the black 4-drop and Sheoldred, and that dumb gamble card is just terrible in every format. Why aren't they even trying to push Sheoldred away from prominence? Why just keep printing *Mythics* that are just not going to see play while Sheoldred exists? And Shelly both is only rare, and isn't even going to rotate. Even the green guy, who looks sweet, like you said probably won't even see play. That means Wizards didn't design it to be powerful enough. Even the land looks way too bad to be playable. Not even domain will want it. If you're playing 3 or more colors, you'd much rather have triomes. Mana in Standard, and probably Commander even, is way too good for this card. I don't understand. That said, Harvester looks sweet for Roots decks, and meh otherwise. This one might see some play, but also seems like an exception as opposed to the norm. Wizards' design just makes me sad lately. This "there have to be terrible cards to make the chase cards look better" mindset is why Sheoldred is $50+ in paper. If there were more viable options to replace her, she wouldn't be so expensive. But they won't do that, and I just don't know why.
