The video, shared by CPIM leader Md. Salim on X, shows Islam, a reportedly known Trinamool Congress supporter, presiding over a kangaroo court to punish the duo for an alleged extramarital affair. Locals report that Islam frequently organizes such extrajudicial courts, resolving disputes with physical punishments and fines. The BJP and CPIM have condemned the ruling TMC, accusing it of fostering an environment that allows such vigilante actions. BJP leader Shehzad and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary have publicly denounced the attacks, emphasizing that violence against women is unacceptable.
