Many may not be stupid per se, if you grow up in the bubble, you know nothing else, everything in your experience points to it being real. Not entirely their fault, in every case I have seen personally, everyone who left the bubble stayed gone, the people in the bubble, have NEVER left.
Here in India several Pastors target the poor because their beliefs can be easily manipulated and loot money. So many families don't go to hospital when they get sick believing the "miracles" of pastors and die.

The first one happened in South Africa my country , the guy who was supposedly 🙄 raised from the dead is a fake because they did a background check him and when they questioned his friends they said last night they were drinking beer with him and he told them that the is a preacher who want him to participate in a scam and he invited his friends but they denied it This made me distance my self from churches
My father is Nigerian and he is into these things like crazy, we once drove 11 hrs to baltimore to see a pastor. It was incredibly cringey, not only was he doing these type of insane 'miracles' nightly. He was also saying s some crazy bigoted stuff. These people need something to believe in and will pay an arm and a leg to do so.
"Healing" people through their TVs... no, "really"... search for it; some preacher guy claimed he could prevent people from catching illnesses/viruses through their TV..
Damn scammers... Should be in jail, not living the high life. It's not even remotely close to being a well-performed scam. It's a disgrace even for scammers.
There’s an interview with a black prosperity preacher which beats all of em where he talks about Jesus wanting him to look wealthy so he can serve him better and it’s the duty of his congregation to provide that wealth

Fun fact, in a morgue when preparing a body, some torture like contacts with spikes are placed on the eyes to prevent them from opening during a funeral. If they did this it would have been god tier acting.

it always makes me sad when i see people taking advantage of a community that trusts in and believes in them. I'm agnostic, but I know how important of a role religion is in so many people's lives, just like spirituality is in mine. Its not something that should be seen as a way to profit off of others, he doesn't even seem to know the bible "was jesus a poor man?" well according to the bible, yes, he was impoverished.
Is the holy spirit and faith not leading them away from these scam artists? I dont see the god they are worshipping and praising her stepping up to bring these evil deeds into the light. They just keep milking them for all their worth because their followers have "faith" that these men are men of god.

You're no different from a kid saying "There is a Santa Claus." Except that once a year the kid sees objectively-verifiable evidence for the existence of Santa. Yep. So, if you go by the bible, there are actually 2 parts of hell. One where the generally unrepentant and non believers go to suffer for eternity and a lake of fire where satan and his angels are consumed completely and spiritually destroyed. @@wildechap yep, said desperation. it's even worse because things are so fucked politically in most places. the govts are filled with corrupt ppl squirreling money away for themselves and their people, taking money that should be for public services and infrastructure and using it for meaningless ""Western"" architecture so they can *look* modern enough for foreign businesses to be able to pretend it's ok to do work there. so we've got govts actively taking the money for personal benefit, money that could be used to educate people, education that could help spread critical thinking and skepticism. then we've got heartless scammers who are the greediest of them all, preying on this manufactured desperation and turning it into their own wealth, further impoverishing these desperate people and using their cultural disposition to believe in the supernatural to make them even dumber and blinder. Understand that they will pay or even just use their influence to ask desperate people to pretend to be handicapped to a stadium full of believers. your damn right it does. Everyone of them argue will argue that this is a miracle from god. Jesus at work here on earth and they KNOW it is real because of their faith. The thing is they are sort of undermining religion by their actions. This is pretty much a textbook case of blasphemy. If this preacher can fool people today into thinking he can resurrect people, it raises the possibility that the same con was pulled in the bible. And inevitably once people get scammed out of their money, that's might well start to think.

It makes me so angry to see Christianity and all its attendant insanities inflicted on these people and their cultures. What a crime. And taking 10% of the income of struggling people is the most obscene of all.
The guy in the one thing had a “priapism,” or “a prolonged erection of the penis without sexual arousal.” The condition requires emergency care or the tissue in the penis can actually become permanently damaged because of the strain. I doubt that he actually had an erection for as long as he claimed and was discharged from a hospital when the condition is actually incredibly serious. I think they made up an entire fake story around the idea. Then again… isn’t that how most religious institutions make their money?
