His store actually pays higher than most video games store if you go back to his previous video he did offer to pay 60 % price charting value. I assume some viewers complain in the comments that he was either undercutting or buying for to much or what ever and his no longer wanted to disclose the value he paid.
@@joshnewman6667 My ebay stores do good from video games furniture art clothes dvd vhs electronics and vintage stuff people just but whatever you list its FLIPPIN CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to see the bad trades that walk in the door... I own a game store and for every great trade there are 5 terrible ones where people have trash but think they have treasure.
I sometimes go to a gamestore to move some stuff and get better stuff that would sell for me. Seeing those less good trade ins would be refreshing honestly
Those are some huge hauls Retro Rick. Some nice collections were brought in. I appreciate the footage as always. Always looking forward to the next content drop
Oh my.. What amazing collections especially the second guy. It's crazy that so much boxes were sealed and excellent condition. I'm blown away with the magazines and the Sega Saturn etc
I don't get why people sell their stuff at a game store when they could get more on eBay or the Facebook groups. I can understand getting trade credit since it's more.
Really depends on the situation. Selling things on ebay takes significantly more time. Sometimes the loss that they eat by selling it to a game store is made back by not spending all that time selling it themselves.
@Cris Yes ebay takes time and effort, but going to a game store you are gonna get 50% or so trade in value, if you go cash even less than that. So if you are willing to take the loss already makes more sense to just price chart everything, then post the lot on Facebook for like 75 percent the value or less and someone will pick it up super fast.
@@Jbones636yeah and a lot of people do, but not everyone really wants to. Some people want quick cash without work. Having 100 videogames to look up on price charting can take time, some people just don’t like the hassle. People do how they please yaknow 🤷♂️
@@Jbones636 so your thinking is someone will look at what your selling and see that it’s 75% of market value and think they could sell it off bit by bit and make some money. Seems reasonable.
You probably can't answer this and I hope it doesn't come across as rude but with a store full of stuff, I don't understand how you can afford to buy complete collections. I guess because everything you sell you make profit but I've always wondered if stores like this are loaded with debt. It kinda reminds me of taking out huge student loan debt in hopes that you can make enough money one day to pay them off. It just stresses me out seeing these clips on your channel and others because I hope you are making a healthy profit.
The price of retro gaming is becoming so ridiculous that more and more people are selling off their collections and that’s why all the retro shops have such good stock….ten years ago the same shops had nothing. Ultimately it’ll implode on itself and retro stuff will drop in price significantly.
I think all the collectibles that went to the moon after 2020 are coming to come down a lot, but I also think they are all legitimately valuable and will be collected by people long term now. If there's a major economic down turn my pokemon card collection will get (even more) epic lol.
I sold. An atari with all the paddles games, n64, dreamcast, gamecube, ps1 ps2 xbox xbox 360. Sega and gameboy color and advanced. All with 20 plus games multiple controllers every wire when my parents sold their house. At an estate sale. I sold that entire box for $250. So rick from staten island ny who bought that blue tub on morningstar road. I would like to have a word with u and believe u owe me some money. 😂 Edit: there was also an odyssey game system in there from the 70s that my bad bought. And a nintendo my dad bought for my mom when she was pregnant with me to relieve stress😂. She still says to this day it caused her more stress cuz she would always fall in the hole in mario lmao. Never would of imagined these consoles would cone back and be worth alot
This really depicts how a lot of collectors are and where the hobby is. A reseller/collector that slowly became more and more of a reseller and eventually a pure reseller. A guy that collected for some years and is just sick of it. Doesn’t find it all that interesting anymore. Needs the extra cash too.
There really isn't even that much money in reselling unless you put in the effort and no what you are doing. If you don't know how to look for good listings on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist and don't have garage sales and good thrift stores in your area you might not have much luck.
That 3:15 deep cut OC Remix Magnet Man used to be MY JAM. Editor Riff's deep cuts never cease to impress me. GGs boys!!! Fun fact -- that OC Remix is probably officially "vintage" by now also.
Now that I realize your shop is in Conway, Arkansas, I may need to make a trip back that way. I stopped in Conway on the way to Amarillo, TX. I am from Fayetteville, NC. I stopped in Conway for the night to stay and make the rest of the trip the next day and I actually loved it there. It kind of reminded me of Fayetteville. I went to a vape shop real quick and scoped a bit of the area and said I would definitely come back if I had a chance. Now I have a reason to come back and check out the store. Love the videos and all the stuff you have in stock. I'm gonna have to have a good amount of cash and pick up a few items. Keep keeping on Retro Rick.
Years ago, the local weather caster always made sure to include the temperature in Flippin, Arkansas. Always got a laugh out of me. I don't think they've done it in years but I'll never forget about it.
That Mario Party 7 gamecube bundle was the first new console I bought with my own money. Circuit City was advertising it for $99, and I decided to jump on it. I still have a love for Mario Party 7 as a result.
This brings me back, because - and you know by now but you'll feel it more over time - the first console we buy with our own money stays in our heart and mind forever. In my case it was during the summer of 1997 from my very first partial-time job (summer job during vacation, high school years); worked to buy myself the PlayStation. It's not _the_ first console I ever had (for me it was the NES, in December 1991) but the first PlayStation is the first console I bought myself. The feeling was incredible knowing I had 'earned' it myself. I don't have my original unit anymore, but I did buy a very mint condition PS1 2 years ago on eBay and it is immaculate and clean, loved it. You'll remember your GameCube experience forever, it just sticks with us.
Man I'm so passed, I had three game cubes, turbo controller, 3 other controllers all Mario games, all Zelda games, street games, ): I miss my game cube
Turbo grax 16 was only really released in major cities and in major states, but it just couldn’t couldn’t stand up to the SNES and SEGA Genesis when those went hard against each other.
I remember the Turbo Graphics 16 was out in the early days of the Sega Genesis. My friend had just got the Genesis system with Altered Beast and his lil sis got the Turbographics 16. Had a dragon game and street fighter 1. SNES came later down the line
Love all this stuff, I have a huge, huge cap between consoles. The first one I had was a NES, the last one (bought last year) was a PlayStation 5. Being a PC gamer all my life, basically. But I love all this stuff. And I get to enjoy it a lot now, given the content you provide, Rick. My thanks for that xD
When my Grandpa passed away and we had to travel down to Arkansas from Wisconsin. My Mom, Aunts, and Uncles had to go get flowers. They said they went to THE FLIPPIN FLOWER SHOP! I laughed but I didn't know it was the town.
I know there is a town called Flippin in Arkansas also other places like Gamaliel and Cave City which in my state of Kentucky we have the same town names which Flippin in my home state of Kentucky in Monroe County is a community and Gamaliel is a town also about 8 miles from Flippin and Cave City is in Barren County about 45 miles from that community.
Rick, you are awesome! I’ve been watching your RU-vid videos for a few years now! Keep up the great work man. Since you opened a store so you guys ship within the USA and do you have a website?
I wish I still had all my Nintendo Power mags. I had a subscription to the magazine from beginning of its run until it ended, but unfortunately they got thrown out, but not by me...
No chance he does that or else the comments will just devolve into how cheap he is from people who don't know how to run a business or comments telling him about how he overpaid. I like him keeping the financials out of it.
@@Collect-Retro i mean. If you don't want to hear the logic behind being a content creator, that's on you. Hes allowing the items to be the centerpiece. Not what he pays on them. Go watch Phoenix resale or any of the other 100 channels that discuss the dollars and cents if that's what you want to see.
Sometimes I go outside and will smell the exterior wall of a building. I'll sniff the building and spend about 10 minutes doing that before heading back inside.
How much cash do you give them vs ebay value? Most shops I thought were 50 - 60% since you have overhead to run a store, time to re-sell, fees if you list them online, etc.
That's about right from some of his previous videos when he said he can offer 60% market value but I assume that on suff that what sell fairly quickly not sure on filler trash though.
I'm interested to know how much u paid for each of the collections you got, as a collector it's nice to know if we're being robbed on eBay or if we're better buying off of stores like yours?
Price charting has all the prices people pay for video games it the most accurate way of findinga games value. Retro rick used it a lot so what ever a game is worth he will most likely offer 60% of it value but not too sure a filler games though I assume a lot less as it slow to move and few people want it.
