Outsmarting Poachers with Smart Maps 

In the 1960's, Garamba National Park was home to over 20,000 elephants. However, by 2017, their population had declined to fewer than 2,000. Local extinction seemed inevitable until Naftali Honig, a park ranger and National Geographic Explorer, discovered a tool that finally Naftali and his colleagues a much-needed advantage over the poachers.
