I think there is a new direction metal vocals will go in very soon. And you're both touching on it already. Vulnerability. We already know how to sound like demons. Now I wanna hear the demons cry. 🤣 For real, there seems to be this weird unintentional divide between emotional vocals and monster/demon vocals. Metalcore vs deathcore, fry vs false cord. Its all unnecessary. I want more metalcore kids throwing in some deathcore vox at key moments, and more deathcore kids using emotional tonality to get across the idea of personal pain. This didn't used to be uncommon at all, but now it's like we've split the scene in half. There used to be TONS of bands that were both metalcore and deathcore. We need to bring the scene back to equilibrium. 💜

It’s not the cleans. The lyrics make no sense at all.

Please do your research. There’s 0 evidence saying this can be done healthy in a sustainable manner. On the other hand there’s 100’s of studies showing how this kind of vocalization can cause nodules and is destructive. I wish we all could sing like this in our 60’s. This is how to literally end up hurting yourself and potentially permanently damaging the only instrument you can’t replace. Even Maynard James Keenan from tool said in a recent interview that he can’t even sing his harsh vocals anymore. going as far as to say it’s like he’s picking at a scab, hurting himself. He goes on to say that it’s basically impossible to sing that stuff at his age and having done it for years. I could go down the list to how many singers I’ve seen must change the way they sing or the key they sing in because of how unsustainable this kind of vocalization is over the years. Quit giving people the impression that they are the exception to the rule and that they can be the next Ronnie James Dio. don’t let this guy sell you on the idea that this method and style of vocalizing is sustainable over decades of time IT CANT. You must protect this one instrument that you can’t replace.
