Live OV7670 now runs on WAVGAT MCUs. Frame rate is twice as fast since it runs at 32Mhz (Atmel based Arduinos run at 16Mhz).

could you use STM32F103C instead ?! it's 4.5 times faster than nano.

Hey! I got it working with it but I wasn't able to get it to sync up as perfectly as with an Arduino. The maximum framerate I got was 15fps. github.com/indrekluuk/LiveOV7670_stm32-arduino With Arduino, I was able to ignore pixel clock and could just blindly read pixel data in sequence. With STM32F103C I had to check pixel clock for every pixel read and that wastes time compared to Arduino. I read somewhere that actually, it should be possible to do the pixel read in hardware level with the STM32 controller. That should speed it up considerably, but I haven't had time to experiment with it.

You gotta try it with esp32 and pull it up to 25-30fps.

I designed them myself in KiCAD and ordered form oshpark.com (you could also use any of the Chinese manufacturers as well). If you download the LiveOV7670 project then in the "LiveOV7670/pcb/kaamera_ja_ekraan/" folder are this board files. If you zip the "gerber" folder in "LiveOV7670/pcb/kaamera_ja_ekraan/" then you can upload it to oshpark.com and get it manufactured.

Timing is really important for the camera interface and I have to do it in C/C++.

In the future I will try to make it with the ESP8266 wifi module. But since data will be transferred over UART it will be much slower. Similar frame rate as in my previous "image over USB to PC" video.
