A buddy of mine has an Ovation guitar that belongs to his wife that needs a neck repair. The guitar, not the wife. Since Ovations have the composite plastic back we have to figure out the best method of re-attaching wood to plastic. The factory uses a 2-part epoxy to do this. Currently at a loss on how to remove the neck to get the whole thing re-attached solidly to the body. If you've never seen the inside of one of these... you're in for a treat. Or a shock.

I refuse to work on ovations. Spares me a lot of trouble.

I just worked on one of these. Couldn't get the neck to budge at all. I ended up sawing the neck at the heel joint with a thin Fein blade and converting to bolt on.

Practice on a cheap copy first.

yep yep I try to steer clear of epoxied guitars lol I can see the neck angle is off and neck needs to be pulled back, maybe heat on the plastic under tension would do it? good luck mang!

Thanks James - Great description! I have an Ovation Custom Legend and need to replace the neck banding. Is there any seller who can supply me that you know?

This is very common if you use heavy gauge strings. Remember an Ovation is predominantly an electric guitar. if you need more noise from it, turn up the volume. This guy know very little about Ovation guitars. this is not going to work out well.
