It truly irritates my soul how much oxtails cost these days when I was teased mercilessly as a child for eating them because and I quote they were "poor people food".
I'm by no means a cook just an old truck driver that loves oxtails and since momma ain't here to feed me...well , at what point did you add the bell peppers and other stuff Thank you in advance
@@lawyahxyahsu5629 hey, I added them in when the gravy and liquids went in. You could also wait until 1 hr before the roast is done, it's really up to you.
Haven't had oxtail in a very long time however I like to cook mine on top of the stove for me it' takes less time and I get more a more tender texture oxtails are very easy to over cook and I cook with stainless steel pots only simply because they cook even at a shorter period of time and I usually have my oxtails with some fried cabbage and rice
My Dad who's gone now used to make ox tails for me. I'm going to try this. I've never made them. He'd do his on the top of the stove and make a gravey. So tender!!
They turned out okay not as tender as they should have been I was shocked that the smallest ones were still attached tightly to the bone I was sure they would disintegrate due to the cooking time
This the way I cook my oxtails always sear them first and baby in that oven with my garlic bell peppers and onions and I also use Lipton onion soup in the pack.. Cream of mushroom.. Collard greens and candy yams with some jasmine rose.. Corn bread let’s eat
I tried your oxtail recipe and oh my goodness, they were the best I’ve ever had. My daughter tasted them and went crazy. She asked me if she went to the store and bought some to please cook them for her! Delicious!!
There are no ox in this country. These are cow tails. look it up. The companies use the term ox tails to make you think you are getting something special' If they use cow tails (which is what they are) some people would not buy them.
@@indianapolislibramom8383 I can show now, I would have to show you while AM cooking it, miss you do not bake oxtail to begin with. It's not the looks of it either, it's the taste of it. My beloved ♥️ AM definitely going to show you, how it's done..
Back then Ox tail was cheap. And delicious. I loved it as a soup. You fried it a little bit in oil then add water, cut potatoes in 1/2, cut circle carrots, corn in a cob, cabbage, green beans, celery, onion, green squash, cilantro, add some rice and salt. Boil it for an hour or so. Now the Ox tail is expensive.... you have to have money. Now it's a luxurious piece of meat. Right next to steak.
I cook mines the same way my mom taught me when i was about 20 years young. Serve over rice steamed cabbage yams and corn muffins... and sweet tea of course....
Thank you for these video...My mom and grandma have passed but these recipes reminds me of their cooking...I will be making oxtails this weekend...and thanks to your wife I will also be making some chicken and egg noodles
This is an old southern dish. My mom used to make oxtail in the oven as well and it's very good. Thank you for bringing this back. With some Hop n John's. Oh man!!!
Doing mine today... had them and wanted to do them in the oven trying to cut all that excess fat( u know oxtails). Found this video this morning thank God I had everything he called for. Not a stranger n the kitchen, but looking forward to the end result. Might be adding to my repertoire!!!
I live north of Seattle. I treated myself to an oxtail for my birthday in April. It was $35!!! For ONE tail! Be thankful your prices are more realistic.
This is my 3rd time cooking this dish and it is so good. My husband went on and on and on how good it taste. It loves the gravy. Thank you so much for the recipe
Great recipe, thank you very much, that look spot on, i think the only thing I would have different, is i would have used some of that broth to deglazed the cast iron pan to incorporate all the goodies left from the oxtails when you brown them. But thank you again for this wonderful recipe.
Wow, this looks absolutely amazing 😍. I'm 41 yrs old and a seasoned cook might I add but have never ever prepared ox tails. This recipe has given me the confidence to get started. Thank you so much my brother!!
Wow thst really looks delicious 😋 definitely going to make it,I love the fact that the ingredients are easy to get, and you share a wonderful dish, thank you for sharing 😊
I just tried your recipe and it was good! I followed this recipe, added potatoes, carrots, and butter beans, and put it in the crock pot and let it slow cook for about 6 hours.
For those of you who have Never cooked Oxtails, you can cook them on top of the stove. Season them with your favorite seasoning, cook until tender i would say 3 hrs and enjoy. Don't forget the onions and bell peppers. Also, my favorite way, Crock pot....you can NOT go wrong.
BOY YOU COOKED THEM OXTAILS. THE PROCEDURE YOU USE ON THEM. THAT'S THE WAY I COOK MY ROAST. I NEVER THOUGHT TO COOK THEM THIS WAY. I ALWAYS WOULD BOIL AND BAKE THEM OUT. I LOVE THIS RECIPE. YOU JUST GAVE ME ONE OF MY ENTRÉES FOR THANKSGIVING. 😁 BRO THANK YOU MAN FOR SHARING THE LOVE. I DID SUSRCIBED AND SHARED. BLESS YOU MY BROTHER. 🙏
Just cooked oxtails for the first time and used your instructions verbatim; with the exception I added better than bouillon to the gravy mixture and red and green bell peppers was my only deviation; and it came out so so good. It became an instant family favorite. Happy thanksgiving Brah!
Bravo to you, my brother! Certainly I have got to try making this recipe. Thank you for your time, knowledge, and the effort that you took in sharing this recipe.
I tried this recipe Oxtails/gravy! The gravity was so flavorful and smooth and the meat was Tender and I didn't have to add any Salt! Perfect! My go for cooking Oxtails ❤ Ive told a few people about this way better
So good! Can't wait to try recipe. I like adding the cream of mushroom and the beef broth along with the gravy mix. Then to put them in oven is excellent idea. I always put mine on top of stove
Great Job!!! that is my type of cooking right there. I'm going to have to make this. I'm hungry already just from watching this video, and thanks for putting this video out there.
I made this with short ribs and they were amazing. Thanks for the recipe. I added bell peppers and a can of golden mushrooms with the cream of mushrooms.
I made these oxtails yesterday for Sunday dinner and they was delicious! I followed your recipe to the Tee, The oxtails and gravy had a great taste. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe.
Hey brother, I’m trying your recipe with a couple of tweaks. I oven roasted a bulb of garlic because I couldn’t find cream of mushroom soup with roasted garlic. I also added 3/4 green pepper. It’s in the oven now and has the house smelling fantastic! Thanks for sharing this simple method with us. I’ve subscribed.
Thank you for sharing! My Sunday dinner came out great. 😊 I only had 1 gravy pack and cream on chicken. It still came out delicious. I didn’t want to go to the store 😅. Today’s menu is oxtail, rice, green beans, cornbread from scratch and sugar cookies from scratch.
I’ve never had oxtail but been curious to try it but some recipes are just a little too complicated for me but I love this! Looks bomb and definitely can’t wait to try making it
Wow absolutely amazing those oxtails look delicious and heads up on the gravy I have never been able to make gravy from scratch but I know how now thanks for the tip
I am not a fan of oxtails, but I cook them for other people. This is by far the simplest recipe I’ve ever seen! Simple ingredients and all from start to finish! Thank you so much for sharing. I will definitely use this easy recipe from now on.
I do my oxtail stew in my oven sometimes. On the stove I have to keep watching it adding liquid. I also add a can of butter beans to mine. If I have enough liquid, I make little dumplings. Delish.
That looks so darn good, now I have to go out and find some to buy. Which are probably doubled the price by now. But it's all good bc your presentation made them look just that delish👍😋💖
yeah you right!!! Never cooked oxtails but want to for hubby, this looks so delicious,. I'm going to cook them. Love the way you took your time with these and in 3 hours -- bam! thanks for sharing.
Love your recipe. Always made homemade gravy from pan drippings when I brown them and from pan juices but I like your soup and beef broth additions. Next dish on my after church menu! Yum-o!!
This sounds so good I wish very much I could have some I am in coler nursing home so you can expect how the food is but God is still on the throne I know I will get some and good oxtail have a blessed day I and you are already blessed we’re still alive praise his name 💕👋

Man that looked awesome. I'm heading to the store to pick up the oxtail and beef broth. I already have the Mccormick brown gravy and mushroom soup. What I loved is, you use Badia spices which is what I use. Your presentation was awesome. I hit the subscribed button so I don't miss any of your recipes.
I use vinegar instead of bottled lemon juice with its artificial flavorings. I love me some oxtails with onions, two to three garlic cloves, and potatoes and carrots and red wine. I make my own gravy from scratch. It doesn’t take any longer to make gravy from scratch that to open up store bought gravy packets. I do use beef broth.
You can also soak them in a little warm water salted water and let them soak for about 15 or 20 minutes and then wash them off real good I don't want to add the taste of lemon juice just in case I don't rinse them off good
Can’t wait to make this!!!! All I can say is “God Bless you Man!!” Looks like what my Mom used to make. She’s no longer on earth, so I can’t ask her, so thank you very much 😊
