Masaru's been breaking down things he's BOUGHT instead of caught, lately I'm thinking he's taking a badly needed & well-deserved rest. And he's spending some of that well-earned cash on some very luxurious items. Good for him.

He's been saying that the late-winter weather has made the waters too choppy for free-dive, and he mentioned he's getting licensed to operate a boat as well. He's probably working on improving his fishing setup.

For packing the fish into a bag without air try putting the bag underwater with the end sticking out when you tie it. It makes getting all the air out much easier

Masaru, for thick bones/skulls (of fish, of course), try a circular oscillating saw (non-rotating). It'll be much easier and you won't make much of a mess. Not to mention, the bone fragments will be super fine, and not big like what you get if you use a regular hand saw. マサル、(もちろん魚の)厚い骨/頭蓋骨には、円形の振動のこぎり(回転しない)を試してください。 それははるかに簡単になり、混乱をあまり起こさないでしょう。 言うまでもなく、骨の破片は非常に細かく、通常の手のこぎりを使用した場合のように大きくはありません。

Watching Masaru using all that kitchen paper towel: Boy, he got M.O.N.E.Y!! Cause kitchen paper towel are a luxury item in my household and my mom will scold us if we use more than one at a time. HAHA 😂 My mom would faint if she saw how many rolls Masaru was using.

実はクエって腹よりは背中に脂が乗る魚。だから背ビレ周りが一番美味しい。 なので三枚に下ろす時にヒレを全部ハサミで切って、骨側に身を付けるように下ろすと、スゲー美味しい部位になる(多分一生使えない無駄知識)

Purple rockcod IS THE BEST species of cod I have ever eaten by far. Normal atlantic cod is nowhere near as good. Fun fact is I have never even seen a single purple rockcod sold anywhere here in canada where I live or the usa. I often wonder where all the ones commercial fishermen catches over here in canada. The only way I know of to get a hold of some here is to catch them yourself and let me tell you it's a well kept secret among fishermen here on the east coast haha.

If you don't know what Rigor Mortis is from the subtitles, it's one of the four postmortem changes that happens in a timely manner after death, it happens in humans and other animals as well, and is used to determine the time of death in forensic science, so the fish is fresh if it is still in that stage(rigor mortis usually happens a few hours after death, but the body is flacid before that)

クエは唐揚げが一番お薦めですよ。一番おいしかったです。これより少し大きいのを父が釣りあげて捌きましたが刺身、煮魚、唐揚げで食べました。人生でまだクエより美味しいお魚食べたことは無いです。
