Can you do a video that shows the calendar for 1 month for you to make that cash. Like how many dog boardings, how many at a time, and what you do in a day with a dog in they stay for a week? Are walks separately charged in a dog stays with you and spends the night and then you take it for a walk the next morning?

I am on rover with my brother and we have great reviews. I still have a slight learning disability and I am on disability for my arthritis but rover helped me get credit cards paid. I learned about dogs. It is a very easy job. My brother works at Amazon fresh. It was a great job that I could do from home so I was looking for a job that I could do at home and this job seem to be the best thing watching dogs was something that my brother started doing and then I said I’d like to make an account so him and I are on this account together and we have a lot of reviews, and a lot of the dogs that most of them wanna come back and the dogs don’t wanna leave because they like me. This experience has taught me things about dogs that I never knew about. I’m learning about dogs and how they are. I also watch cats on Rover too. I do have to change the price we charge for the dogs because my brother said we need to up the prices, but I was afraid to do that because somebody commented and said that another sitter had it for less than what I had it for.

I have been on rover for about a year just on the side along with my normal job and pulled in 30k this year just as a side hustle, I have never offered doggy day care but considering offering that and maybe going more full time, do you have a lot of dogs on repeat scheduling for daycare?

Maybe it’s because they board? Supposedly you make a TON more if you board because you can have multiple dogs at one time. If it’s just drop ins, like I do, I don’t see how you could reach those numbers unless people were paying you sky high rates, like $75/visit 😳

I started to raise my rates after I had about 40 reviews. I felt like that was a safe number compared to the others in my neighborhood. Make sure your landlord knows you’ll be having pets! I would recommend a house with a large yard that’s fenced! Another thing I would look out for are porches without a lot of steps. Jan and feb are the weakest months of the year for pretty much almost all businesses. People spend so much of their money and savings for the holidays a lot of them decide to tighten the belts and cut a lot of expenses all the way to near spring time. This is why first financial earnings reports for almost every publicly traded company is usually the weakest one.

Cats and dogs definitely! I wish I could do cats because with cats, I can definitely scale more in terms of being able to do other things with my time, such as more walking or do house check ins. However, you might need to also think about the possibility of not getting as many dog clients in case their cats or dogs don’t get along and owners are concerned about it. From my experience, I have only had a handful of owners with cats AND dogs, and they ask if I can take their cat as well and I always have to turn them down due to my allergies. I’m sure there are a lot of owners with cats and dogs, but I don’t see any of the cat clients due to my filters. :)

@Gigichew
@Gigichew 4 месяца назад
In the beginning we accepted most. Not because we were greedy but we didn’t know how to vet them yet. Now we’re much better at turning down yellow and red flag clients. And as for doggy proofing, we did! We blocked off areas of the garden that we wanted them to stay out and we had pens to create a safe perimeter so them can roam. We did have damage to a room with carpet. We ended up ripping out the whole entire carpet and replaced with hardwood floor

thats amazing! A great income! We upped our rate about 20% but still stayed within a healthy range of our competitors. We also advertise as full time as a husband and wife duo so we are able to physically care for more than when it was just myself doing Rover full time. Is it possible to become a dog sitter as a college student who doesn’t have a car?
@Gigichew
@Gigichew 4 месяца назад
Absolutely! you can always turn down clients based on the location if it’s not something you can commute to. But another way is for people to board with you. If you’re in a house or apartment that is off-campus and your landlord is OK with pets maybe you can take in a cat since they are a little bit more low maintenance. From my experience, college cities and towns have a lot of public transit that is convenient for a lot of students so if you’re willing to commute and can work that into your schedule, that is totally possible! It’s honestly as far as you’re willing to travel. And that’s something you and the owner can discuss prior to booking. Make sure you find out which location they are at before you book because you can go down on the algorithm and have a negative impact if you end up canceling a booking after confirming them!!!

They stopped doing PayPal transfers last November / December :( I had to download all my bank statements and add every single deposit with an excel sheet lol It was a lot of work not gonna lie and tuning and honing systems to work better. We were fortunate to live in an area that had high demand, near an airport, and we were in a house as opposed to a lot of our neighbors which were in apartments so we would attract a lot of people who wanted to drop their dogs off to us because we had other dogs to play with! If you were working 5 days a week with one income, how much do you think you could make just starting out part time and then full time? And if you needed to study while working, are most people okay with that if you’re just pet sitting and not doing the walking? If that makes sense. And do you have your own pets? Who takes care of them when you travel? I’ve heard some horror stories of people not getting paid at all for walking a dog on Wag when they completed the whole walk because of false customer complaints where the customer lied. Has that ever happened to you? I’ve also seen some articles on Wag and Rover of multiple owners’ pets going missing or actually dying on their watch. If I sign up for River as a sitter and I want to travel at some point and take a break, I don’t know who I would leave my pets with if there are literal murderers on the app not being punished and Rover and Wag had the owners just sign NDA’s and not even apologize.

Such a great question! I have 1 dog of my own. You have full control over your schedules and my best advice is to be transparent with your clients. They’ll appreciate it :) for example, if you are a student, and you only have three days out of the week to sit, you can definitely let them know, and then if you have a test that day, just tell them you need to step out. Most likely, owners are OK if you have to be out of the house for 2 to 3 hours. There are dogs on the app that have the option to say that they are OK being left for four hours alone or even eight hours alone. Some dogs are puppies and they can only be left alone for less than an hour. It’s all in their bio. I recommend not taking in those clients right now, especially if you are a student. Same for the walking just tell them you can’t walk for x day or say you can check in but only let out/ walk for 5 minutes. As for not getting paid.. I haven’t had that issue yet, so I can’t speak for that. I’m sorry.

It varied every day as dogs were coming and going since we did daycare AND boarding. But we also did dog drop ins as well. So I don’t have a number sorry! I just remember it was a very busy 3 days with lots of driving and logistics juggling 😖

so how much are u charging per day for 1 dog for dog sitting?
@Gigichew
@Gigichew 10 месяцев назад
I charge 48-95 per day. It depends if they are paying for a drop off and pick up and if the dog is a puppy or if it is a holiday rate. In my range i gave, i included the minimum price for daycare and our price if they did the round-trip drop off on a holiday :) I know it is a large range, so definitely take to advantage of holidays!

@Gigichew
@Gigichew 10 месяцев назад
Lol you’re so funny! After doing this for three Christmases now, we definitely have learned to make boundaries. For example, if it is a daycare on Christmas day, we don’t except them, but if we have overnights throughout the Christmas week, we tell them that we will be stepping out for family events, but we limit ourselves to a few hours for that activity so we can make it home in time before a doggie has their accident. 100% of the time, a lot of clients appreciate the transparency and they will let us know if that is something they are comfortable with. if not, we will decline them. The understand we have a family life too! Do whatever works for you girl! I’m so glad you understand the Christian business Woman struggles on Christmas Day! Haha

Only way this is possible is if she is drop ins for an entire large suburban neighborhood where all the occupants are gone the whole day and they all happen to want the drop ins at all different times AND they all want her and no other dog sitter or Walker. Not likely.

Hello! This is our full time job :) and we actually don’t do many drop ins. We do a lot of boarding and take advantage of holiday rates. We work 7 days a week 3 months at a time. So basically work 90 days straight and we make sure we overlap all major holidays without vacationing on those months. Hope that made sense! :)
