I prefer a male singing this. Listened to all and in the end, if I have to pick one, it would be Dan Vasc. I love the rich tone of his voice.

For me - 1 Dan, 2 Patti, 3 Tarja. I know a lot of people love Tommy, and he is a good singer, but he doesn't have the richness that I love. Just my likes. Thank you for this, it was a great idea.

I’m sorry but it’s Dan. It’s always Dan. He makes the song a piece of him always . Love your reactions. Been a long time since I heard the original. I like that you do multiples. Food for thought( sound? ).

WHEW! Dude, you nearly broke me on this one. I started not to watch, but then I was intrigued. Two hours and 50 minutes of my life that I will never get back.🤣 Gary Moore definitely did it best and the Tokyo performance was the best. I had seen the official video before. (I even had to look up how he got the scars on his face.) I agree that the song needs a male voice. Then, I have a problem - I liked Dan Vasc's vocals, but I like the instruments on Tommy's. As far as the females go, it has to be Patty Gurdy! She played the hurdy gurdy! I'm also a Steven 'n' Seagulls fan, but this was not one of their best. Thank you for putting this together and your observations!

Dan #1, Gary #2 . Really preferred a male voice on this song. Dan’s voice is just so rich and he enunciates so well !

Credit to Gary for writing a song that speaks to so many people. I was lucky enough to see him perform it live and his raw passion is irreplaceable for me. It was an interesting exercise to check out the other versions. I don't care much for Nightwish and operatic warblings do nothing for me. To be honest, I'm far more interested in the guitar playing than the vocals, so that takes away my interest in most of these covers. Dan Vasc, I really don't understand the appeal. Tommy Johansson, it's pretty much a straight copy, so I don't really need to hear it.

The nice thing is that Floor realised how good it sounded with Marko and sat back more. Anette's version was not great but at least it had the Uilleann pipes.

@@joelroadie English actor and folk singer, he played a part in the TV series Sharp, starring Sean Bean, where Over the Hills and Far Away is the theme tune sung by Tams, it harkens back to the original tune from the 1600s
